Reduced Recoil?

I wad wondering if anyone had any luck with reduced recoil loads in 300 PRC. I have noticed that since my shoulder surgery the full power loads are starting to cause a flinch response. My 308 and my 30-06 even with the hottest loads does not seem to bother me but the PRC really seems to irritate it. Which sucks since I just got my new Origin build from PVA.

Overcooked Brass (Annealing question)

Can someone who knows more about annealing than me give me some guidance?

I've watched a Eric Cortina's video with his benchsource annealer and he like to see a slight glow in the brass to let him know its properly annealed. I can get the brass to glow with my flame annnealer but I feel like it was in the flame too long. I backed it off a couple seconds and landed here. Did I over cook my brass?

Rifle Scopes Top tier scope recommendation

So I currently run an element theos, and it’s great! But I’ve been going back and forth on a zco or kahles. I’m thinking either the 527 or 540i. What are opinions on reticle thickness? I tried a vortex razor 3, but it was too thin for my eyes. The theos reticle (thickness/presence) is what I’d like to have if possible. Seems maybe zco does this a bit better? Any help would be great as the guys I shoot with don’t run either scope. Primarily razor gen 3’s or atacr on the more premium side.

California Magazine Ban Update

A while back California banned standard capacity magazines with no grandfather clause. California gun owners fought back and are now on our second trip to the Supreme Court to find out whether it is constitutional to ban magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. The Supreme Court chickened out on the Snopes case a few months ago on "assault weapons" in Maryland and we are about to see if the court is also comfortable with magazine bans and confiscations.

SOLD Vudoo V22 360 22LR Barreled Action For Sale. **SPF**

Vudoo V22 360 22LR RH V3 Barreled Action, 20” Kukri, 20MOA, w/ 1 Vudoo plastic 10 rnd mag, w/ 1 Vudoo bolt assembly/disassembly tool, w/ 1 Vudoo bore guide…$1950 shipped, not including the pictured trigger. The barrel was custom selected and slugged for accuracy (as per the receipt).

The gun is in excellent condition with about 2500 rounds fired. I am the original buyer, and everything was puchased directly from Vudoo. I bought this gun in 2021 with the intent of starting NRL22, but I ended up having two back surgeries shortly afterwards. I’m having another surgery shortly and decided to sell the rifle.

The Triggertech Diamond II-Stage in the photo is available for an extra $250. Also, the rifle just came back from “Lapua Ammo-Camp”, so the buyer has the option to acquire the full, unopened case of ammo that tested the best…Midas+ Lot M11. The case of Midas+ is $2350 shipped lower 48’s, to your FFL.

The gun shoots far better than I can. I included the Lapua test-target and a couple of my better 50-yd targets. Local pickup (NH) is welcome if you want to save the shipping (shipping sucks!), and/or test fire the rifle in person.

If you’re not in the NH area, I’d be happy to have a dealer of your choice examine the firearm on your behalf before the purchase. The barreled action as above, is $1950 shipped, my FFL to your FFL, lower 48’s, insurance is extra. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Springfield Kuna problems

Well guys, after the announcement of the Kuna, I got pretty excited at the price point. Picked one up, love the gun, it shoots amazing until...
Stove piping, then stove pipe again. I look down and a spring is sitting there with the brass case. The ejector is completely missing.

I call Springfield, they were nice. Obviously, sent in the bolt and 3 weeks later its back with a new ejector. Mind you it has maybe 45 rounds through it total.

Take it out yesterday, 14 rounds in, ejector is sitting on the ground in pieces... now it has a broken ejector again. WTF! I'm pissed and let SA know that. Off to SA goes the bolt again, I told them I want a new bolt and not just an ejector assembly. What a disappointment

EPA rolling back regs?

It looks like the EPA has ended its stupid regs requiring diesel exhaust fluid. If you are not familiar with this in a nutshell you had to put a fluid in your "exhaust" to make it cleaner. Looks like this is being reversed and the software to hobble the engine can now be charged to allow full power if no exhaust fluid is present.

Hopefully CAFE will be removed and we can get back to smaller trucks and cars that get better fuel mileage. My 1990 F150 was parked next to a Ford Maverick. The modern small truck is larger than my old full sized

Shoot kid in the back of head -pay $4.9 million settlement and all is good !

Way back in 2017 , before “all the good ones” left or were forced out .

They wanted to question Isaiah about his brothers whereabouts and possible connection to a shooting , Isiah ran away- and Sacramento PD officer Villicruz shot the unarmed teen in the back of the head.

They marveled at the “good shot “ and waited serval minutes to call for medical attention, and even handcuffed him while his brain was on the ground - in case an unarmed kid was still dangerous.

Instead of treating it like a murder - almost 8 years of legal wrangling resulted in a near $5 million dollar settlement to the family. But deemed the shooting justified I guess they were afraid of a young kid they wanted to question about someone else .

Why are AR15s so difficult to shoot for the average shooter?

Ok, I recognize that the answer is better fundamentals, full stop.

But this is what I see.

Go to any range, see a bunch of AR15s on the line, and for most of the shooters it is all they can do to put their rounds inside a 12" diameter target center at 100 yards. It doesn't seem to matter whether they are shooting scoped rifles, red dots, iron sights.

So, better fundamentals and move on to the next thread on the Hide.

But the same range will have a bunch of bolt rifle shooters and most of them are inside a 5" diameter target center. Many of these guys are shooting light rigs for hunting, using heavier calibers, and still manage to shoot inside 5". And many of them will put maybe 50 rounds down range all year, 45 rounds in practice and 5 to take down whatever they have a tag for.

Is the AR problem light weight? Wouldn't seem obvious given lighter recoil and many have muzzle brakes.
Heavy trigger? A 3 lb trigger isn't exactly heavy lifting but hand position and trigger pull weight might make a difference.
Hand position and style of grip? Again influencing trigger pull.
AR being fussy about the ammunition it likes to shoot?
Benches at most ranges put the shooter in an incorrect position with respect to recoil?

Am I just going to the one range where everyone is terrible at executing a proper shot?

There are millions of AR15s in the US, but not millions of good shooters of AR15s.

It doesn't make sense to me. Curious whether anyone has thoughts to suggest about this.

Otherwise insignificant things that makes your day.

Carrying on with my previous "having a great day" thread... I give you the thread of otherwise insignificant things that just make your day... Doesn't even need to make sense to anyone else... just some ridiculous thing that makes you happy. This will all but certainly piss all the/my haters off too... which brings me to my #1 actually (of course I'll start this off).

1. Living my "best life" and knowing it aggravates others for no reason other than my mood is not being dictated by what they want. Truth be told "best life" is a ridiculous phrase (at least in my opinion) that's a "hashtag" now. All I'm saying is haters are going to hate but they'll never hate harder than they will when they realize you just frankly don't care what they think. Something magical about feeling good & knowing that it's pissing the haters off even more am I right?

2. Moving back to more mundane things- for the life of me one of my most absolute favorite things is going to bed when the sheets have been freshly washed. I've struggled with sleep issues for many years but that first night in clean sheets... I can't explain it but it just hits harder than any Ambien I've taken.

3. That "new gun day" feeling. Not sure how others operate but for me I've always been one to analyze the crap out of various models to pick the one specific configuration I want & then to chase it with trying to find a good deal. If you're anything like me, you have a list of guns you want & a price tag you've mentally allocated to spend and it's awesome when the stars line up and you got that new chunk of steel in your collection.

4. This might be oddly specific to me but I've shared here my exploration in automatic watches over the past year. I've been evaluating a half dozen or so lately and I've gotten great satisfaction out of wearing 'em & learning their accuracy. I thought I was having an issue with a Seiko diver I recently purchased and was concerned that I somehow screwed up the date/day mechanism because it's apparently a "thing" to set it during a certain window of time (which I didn't) but I spent the past week not being able to sync the current time with the day & date. Whelp- the past two days (I'm not even sure what I did 'right') my one diver is now running accurate (+8-10 seconds a day) but more importantly the day of the week and the actual date are now synchronized and that has me much happier than it rightfully should.

5. On the way to work yesterday there was a trivia question on the radio on what hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia was and I knew (not guessed) but actually knew it was the fear of long words. The look my wife gave me when I said that was priceless and made me feel... well young again, almost like when we first started dating and everything was new & you were impressive in what you knew & could do.

6. Wrapping up for at least the first post- but as an example of thins that don't cost a thing- when your spouse gives you that look of surprise (I almost think it gets better the older you get because you see it less & less) but "that" look of when you both surprise & impress them... damn if that doesn't make my day.
