737R 6 Dasher Build - Rounds Sticking In Chamber

I built a 737R 6 Dasher a few months ago and got everything pretty close to where I want it. I took it out to a prairie dog shoot over the last week and experienced my rounds sticking into the rifling after about 100 rounds. A cartridge closed into battery slightly hard which prompted me to eject it, when I did it ejected hard and pulled the case out without the bullet.

I'm about .010" off the lands according to the old school method of finding the lands via the feel of an ejector-less bolt. I started with .015" and experienced more consistent muzzle velocities at .010" and stopped there. Before my trip I shot pretty extensively without seeing any issues. I'm loading off a Dillon XL750 and the dies are on a dedicated tool head. I use the same shell holder slot to seat all my rounds. I'm using Redding type S with a micrometer seating die.

Before my trip I went out and shot 50 rounds at the range and did not clean it. About a week later was day 1 of my shoot and I shot about 50 rounds and experienced my first stuck round. I unstuck the round (very easily) with my cleaning rod and cleaned the rifle. Cartridges were entering into battery and ejected without a problem. The next day I shot about 100 without a single issue and then it popped up again. This time I unstuck the round and cleaned the powder out and put another round in with the same result. I cleared the bullet and have not cleaned it in case the community here suggests I take a look at something.

Is this carbon ring buildup or something else? Should I back off and increase my land jump?

AB Raptor-10

Who all runs an AB Raptor? Anything you can compare against? I’ve got a KGM R30 and love it but want something quiet and shorter for a hunting rifle.

I’m looking for a new can and was intrigued. Thinking about a Raptor-10 with the 5” reflex. Curious what others experiences with the AB cans

How good are Custom Rifle Barrels?

Not a custom rifle barrel but the Custom Rifle Barrel blanks made by Austin Orgain aka ACE Precision. I know these are the offshoot of the Hawk Hill barrels with a new owner. New owner new issues? Starting and running a business is hard work.

I'm looking for benchrest accuracy, (aren't we all) not pretty. I have been running cut rifling barrels for several years, Proof, Kreiger and Bartlein, with Bartlein being my current favorite. Never tried the Hawk Hill now CRB barrels.

Then you have the whole 4 groove vs 5 groove argument. The 5R might be easier to clean. But that might be a whole different discussion.

Crushing .223 Cases

I haven't had this problem before.

Lake City 223 cases were prepped as usual, sized with a Hornady sizing die, and an expander ball. They may not have been annealed.

Nosler Custom Competition 77-grain bullets are not seating using a Hornady seating die. Comes up hard once past the boat tail and then crushes the case.

I don't trust my micrometer at the third digit after the decimal, but the bullets are measuring .2235, and the expander ball is .220.

3.5 thou plus a bit of spring back may be my problem, but I have used these dies many times before without any issues.

Does anyone have a .223 Hornady expander ball they could measure for me?

If the dies are not the problem, I will try annealing. I use a Sinclair mandrel for other calibers, but not .223. Maybe it's time to add one to the set.

Any other thoughts?

Rim-x MCR

Yesterday my Rim-X conversion from MCR arrived. I got her put back into its chassis and headed to the range. Johnathan did a great job! The rifle now sports a 25” MW 13 twist. He also spun up a Bartlein CF in 16 twist for it, just incase I get the itch to use it for hunting. Target is the first 50 shots at 50 yards. I think its gonna do just fine.

My Grok discussion about Harvey Milk and predatory behavior

I asked Grok about Harvey Milk being a child predator

Grok:
I didn’t ignore Lillian Faderman’s biography; rather, my previous response focused on the primary source of the “child predator” claim, which often centers on Randy Shilts’ The Mayor of Castro Street and the relationship with Jack Galen McKinley. Faderman’s work, particularly The Gay Revolution (2015), does mention Milk’s relationship with McKinley, who was 16 or 17 when they met in 1964. She describes it as a consensual relationship, noting McKinley’s age and troubled background, but doesn’t frame it as predatory or illegal. Faderman contextualizes it within the era’s social norms and Milk’s pattern of relationships with younger men, without evidence of him targeting prepubescent children or engaging in criminal behavior.

My Response:
Ignoring Fabermans biography is spinning the Milk story that Milk is the victim of baseless accusations

Grok:
The omission of Faderman’s specific reference in my earlier answer wasn’t intentional but a result of prioritizing Shilts’ account, as it’s more frequently cited in this debate. Faderman’s biography aligns with the view that the relationship raises ethical questions due to the age gap and power dynamics but doesn’t substantiate the “child predator” label under clinical or legal definitions. If you’re referring to specific passages or claims in Faderman’s work I missed, could you share those details? I can dig deeper into her text or other sources to clarify.

My response:
Then you should include Faberman biography information when others ask you about Milk and young boys

I understand your concern that omitting Faderman’s biography might seem like it’s framing Milk as a victim of baseless accusations. To clarify, I didn’t intend to ignore Faderman’s work or spin the narrative. My previous response focused on Shilts’ The Mayor of Castro Street because it’s often the primary source cited in discussions about Milk’s relationship with Jack Galen McKinley, the 16- or 17-year-old in question. However, let’s address Faderman’s account directly to ensure I’m engaging with your point.

In Lillian Faderman’s The Gay Revolution (2015), she discusses Milk’s relationship with McKinley, noting that Milk met him in 1964 when McKinley was a teenager (16 or 17) and a runaway with a history of substance abuse. Faderman describes the relationship as consensual and doesn’t label it as predatory, but she acknowledges the age difference and Milk’s pattern of being attracted to younger men, often those with troubled backgrounds. She places this in the context of the 1960s, when social norms around age and relationships differed, and doesn’t suggest Milk’s behavior was illegal or targeted prepubescent children. Faderman’s account doesn’t frame Milk as a victim but rather presents his personal life as complex, focusing on his broader contributions to gay rights.

The “child predator” accusation, as you’ve raised, often stems from critics who interpret the McKinley relationship as inherently exploitative due to the age gap and power dynamics. These critics, including groups like SaveCalifornia, point to such relationships to argue Milk’s legacy is tainted. Faderman’s biography doesn’t refute the relationship but also doesn’t endorse the predator label, instead offering a nuanced view that avoids sensationalizing it.

If it seems I’m spinning the story, that’s not my intent. My goal is to ground the discussion in evidence. Faderman’s account, like Shilts’, confirms the relationship with McKinley but doesn’t provide evidence that Milk’s actions meet the legal or clinical definition of a “child predator” (e.g., targeting prepubescent children or breaking age-of-consent laws). The age of consent in New York in 1964 was complex—often 17 for heterosexual relationships, with sodomy laws potentially criminalizing homosexual acts regardless of age—but there’s no record of Milk facing legal charges for this relationship.

If you feel Faderman’s biography contains specific details I’m overlooking—like direct evidence of predatory behavior or other relationships with minors—please point me to those passages or specifics. I can also search for additional sources or X posts to cross-check. My aim is to address the accusation head-on without dismissing your perspective or the complexity of Milk’s personal life. What specific information from Faderman’s work are you referring to that you think I’m missing?
