H4831 vs H4831SC "Carolina Load" 6.5CM

Hi all -
I was following a recipe for something called a "Carolina Load" for my 6.5CM, except I wanted to use H4831 instead of the H4831SC that was suggested. This is my first time reloading anything, and I don't yet know a lot about various different powders (except from a chart of fast vs. slow burners), but this particular recipe called for 44.3gr of the H4831SC.
I also realized that I bought the wrong bullet for the recipe, but I figured the overall fitment between the two might be minimal, so I proceeded (I have a Hornady 140 gr ELD Match, instead of the suggested 140 gr SST).
Long story short...I cannot fit 44.3 gr of powder in the case, and still install the bullet to COL of 2.800". It's such a compressed load that the bullet cannot be seated that deep and the bullet is mildly damaged when I attempt to seat it at that COL.
Is the physical shape of the power's granule quite different between these two powders? Is the Short Cut powder much smaller in size? I can't find a lot of information about the powder differences.
Thanks!

Primer blowout

I just got a 6 dasher that I put together. Zermatt origin with proof pre fit 26" barrel. Brand new alpha brass srp. At 31.7 with varget I got a blown primer didn't come out but it had carbon ring around it and a hole. I started with shooters world precision and had it do the same thing at 31.5 with heavy bolt lift so I stopped cause I was just looking for pressure with the powder and just switched to varget. I did 5 rounds at 31.7 and didn't have a problem with the other 4 rounds but the 1 round had the problem. Shot 5 at 32.2 and they didn't have any problem or heavy bolt lift. I'm using winchester #41 cause it's what I have and I didn't think it would be a problem but is that the problem? Do I need to switch primers i do have some cci450. I also noticed my bolt now has 2 little dimples on the face is it trashed now to?

Questions for prone shooting

Few questions on shooting in the prone position. Shooting an ar platform and just going through repetitions for groups but need some advice.
1. To load or not to load the bipod. Should bipod be at the muzzle or half way. I personally feel better not loading.
2. Rear bag should it be tucked firm under my arm and armpit. I squeeze with my left hand for reticle adjustment.
3. Can there be to much pressure from my cheek to stock while shooting.

I am working on not grabing and adding any other tension while firing. These are just a few things that came to my mind. I am also realizing i may have to bring my scope back some to my natural resting spot and not force my eye forward. Thanks again for the advice and knowledge.

Starting The Suppressor Journey ( Need Advice)

First off, if this is somehow in the wrong place, my apologies. Mods, please move elsewhere if appropriate. Thanks.

Beginning to study suppressors for my Tikka Super Varmint in 6.5 Creedmoor. Range gun. Is there such a thing as a suppressor, I suppose .30 cal, in a $ range of 500 to 700 or so that someone could recommend? I’m a real neophyte at this and it seems really complicated. Thanks in advance for any help.

Trump, The Second George Washington

  • Actor and filmmaker Sylvester Stallone introduced President-elect Donald Trump at the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) Gala on Thursday with a short and sweet speech in which he called Trump the "second George Washington."

The "Rocky" actor was the final speaker of the night – only talking for about two minutes – before the president-elect took the stage at Mar-a-Lago.

When starting off his speech, Stallone began speaking about his "Rocky" character and how he was "going to go through a metamorphosis and change lives, just like President Trump."

"We are in the presence of a really mythical character. Nobody in the world could have pulled off what he pulled off, so I'm in awe," he said.

Wanted to share my experience with Glock Customer Service/Warranty

Howdy Hide,

Figured this is the best forum to post this in. First things first- I'm a big fan of Glocks and own a bunch of 'em and bought a new one as recently as last week. Just to illustrate that point, below is a picture that I've shared here of my collection of Glocks chambered in 45...

Hopefully that serves to illustrate that I'm a fan of their product and not bashing them. That said, I did have to use their customer service/warranty recently and just wanted to share my experience with the Hide and hope that it may be of some help to others down the line if they too find themselves going down a similar path and find this thread through a search. Bottom line up front, I'm neither miffed nor impressed with how things worked out, but rather somewhere in the underwhelmed/indifferent mindset after bringing this effort to a conclusion as of today.

To start with- I should begin where all good stories begin, at the beginning and what started this exchange. I have a G19.3 purchased NIB in 2009 and the pistol has been an absolute rockstar ever since I owned it. I don't mean to overestimate the round count but after 15 years, I'd say that it likely is in the ballpark of 10K rounds. All factory ammunition using brands such as S&B, WWB, UMC, Blazer, Magtech, etc. There was about 1-2K rounds of NATO spec ammo and maybe 500 rounds of +P. I know that I've replaced the recoil spring at least twice (so minimum of 3 OEM recoil springs since owning it NIB).

So with that said- I'm a bit on the neurotic side when it comes to cleaning my firearms, doesn't matter if I put 50 or 500 rounds through it, it just bothers me to go to bed with a 'dirty' pistol. Well about 2-3 years or so ago, I was cleaning the pistol and noticed that there was a chip on the outside of the barrel with what appeared to be a hairline fracture that went from the chip all the way to the 12 o'clock position of the barrel. Truth be told, I already had a backup G19 so I took the Gen 3 out of rotation figuring I'd bring it to a GSSF match and have an armorer look at it for free but between COVID, work, and life, what was supposed to be a pause intended to only be a couple of months turned into years and this year I finally had the craps of having a pistol on the sideline for so long and decided to reach out to Glock's customer service.

Before I get too far, I know the pictures aren't of the greatest quality but I'll throw the pictures of the issue I'm describing here below-

1731647867859.png

1731647998074.png

Since I know it's not the best quality, I'll also throw in a crudely edited picture of the area in question...

1731648054469.jpeg

1731648900462.png

Not sure if it'll come through but as members here are well aware, this is the part of the firearm subjected to tens of thousands of PSI each and every time a round is fired during normal operation so naturally I was concerned about metallurgical issues at this point which is what caused me to seek Glock's opinion on the matter.

Alrighty, this post is getting long so I'll end it hear and pick it up in a subsequent post.
