Question for the accurized AR-15 crowd...

I have a Falkor Caitlyn that I won at an SHC event many years ago. Some of you here have probably shot this exact rifle.

To mix things up from bolt guns, I decided to make this rifle an "SPR". Today at the range I shot some IMI Razorcore 77 and Blackhills 75 match HP ammo. I shot a lot more IMI than the Blackhills, but both ammo produced groups in the 1.25-1.50 MOA range. One group with the IMI was just barely sub 1 MOA. This rifle has a carbon fiber Proof 16" barrel for those curious.

While I understand these are not bad groups for an AR-15, I was hoping for it to be closer to 0.75-1 MOA. This seems to be wishful thinking at this point. However the barrel is likely way over due for a cleaning, so this may be a factor as well.

But while at the range, I ejected a few rounds that were chambered but unfired, and noticed some pretty deep gouges on the ogive of the bullets. My understanding is that this is caused by the feed lips in the barrel extension. I emailed Falkor, they didn't seem too concerned with it. I know that this is a somewhat normal thing with AR-15's, however I can't help but think that these gouges wouldn't have a fairly dramatic effect on precision. Maybe not as much at 100 yards, but I'm sure further out it would produce pretty noticeable results.

What does the accurized ar-15 crowd do to avoid this issue? Or is this just the reality with AR-15's that we have to live with? @MSTN

Short 308 Diminishing returns

Hey guys, first post and not a very technical question.

I'm a brush hunter and am wanting to setup a light and handy .308 with a 16" barrel for my can. I'll run a lightweight 2-7. This would be 300y max but more like inside 100 realistically.

Major players l've found so far are Tikka t3x, Howa 1500 super lite short, and Ruger American Gen 2. Or starting a build with the Howa barrelled action.

Nice guns are always nicer of course, but would you guys spend more than 600 for a Gen 2 Ruger American?

Why the Little Things Matter

I've spent the better part of six months gathering data and putting together a video about why the small things matter. It included two small things I do in my reloading process that have tangible results, and also included data on the nearly 200 rounds worth of testing I did to support. However, it was way too freaking long, so I split it in two. I just published the first part of the video, and augmented it with some additional content. Sorry, the two small things will have to wait for the second "half" to get edited and augmented :)

Viper barrel vise for scope mounting?

So I'm trying to come up with a solution for a gun vise for mounting scopes.

I've looked at the usual, but then thought hey, I have a Viper barrel vise, why not use that?

Would there be anything inherently wrong with using the barrel of the rifle to support the gun while mounting the scope?

I dont have a work bench (working on that) so I was looking at either the all in one typw table top vise, or some that i could simply clamp to the table with c clamps.

SOLD JAE-700 G2 Shortbus Cerakote

Well I ended up picking up another Gen4 right after grabbing this one so I’m going to let it go. The reason being is the gen4 magazine collet is able to accept a bag stop that I already had and matches my main comp gun so it’s just nice to have it identical.
Other than that it’s has the exact same features, actually more features than the gen 4 and is just as nice.

Inlet was opened up for a trigger hanger as seen in pictures.

Shortbus did an awesome job on this and also comes with extended ARCA rail and 4 external weights

Asking $1300 shipped & insured

I’d entertain a few trades +/- cash

Zeus quick change in PRS

About the pull the trigger on a Zeus build and someone mentioned the quick change isn’t a great option in PRS because you could bump the barrel and lose your zero vs an impact, lone peak, etc.

Is this true? I really wanted to be able to change from 6 dasher to 6cm for practice and cheap factory ammo.

I’m a casual shooter, once a month local matches.

Torn between this and an impact. I’m considering the impact action due to less bolt lift and from research it appears to feed better with AW mags.

Teacher & Dem Co Chair Arrested For Masturbating in Front of His Students

Hands on instruction, I guess.

A 14-year-old girl who witnessed the incident told law enforcement Bowers “would not get out of his seat and didn’t tell us to do anything.”

“There was white stuff on his pants and he would not get up for anything. He had his hand down there and was sweating but it was cold in his room,” she explained.

How did it go for you - barreled actions in your new chassis

You recently DIY'd your barreled action in a new chassis. How did it go? Did you run into any problems? Smooth? Did you bed the action? What did you learn? Regrets?

I have a barreled ARC CDG (LA 700) and a MPA matrix Pro II chassis inbound. Should I DIY the installation? I am a (very?) competent armorer and craftsman/mechanic in other areas, but draw the line at anything that requires precision milling.
