Alec Baldwin has finally been charged in the shooting death of Halyna Hutchins with Involuntary Manslaughter. We shall see if they actually follow through...

Lightweight FFP Mil scope that tracks reliably

I am looking for a lightweight scope preferably under 20 ounces that is FFP, Mil, tracks well, and has a graduated reticle. Power is not super critical but ideally would like at least 15x on the upper end. This is going on a long range hunting rifle. I love my ATACRs but I don’t want to pack around a 30 ounce scope. Any recommendations? No particular budget in mind but I am looking for something high quality that I can count on.

Poor little ole Hunter Biden

Can someone explain to me how this fucker needs a sugar brother to help support him with all his dealings with the Ukraine gas company and China I know hookers and blow can be expensive, but damn!

“When I first met Hunter, he was emerging from the lowest point in his life," Morris said. "At this time, he had no income and his wife Melissa was five months pregnant. Although he was being harrassed by paparazzi, as well as people coming onto his property and threatening him, he had no security protection."

"I was concerned that Hunter did not have the level of support he needed," he continued. "I stepped in and have done so ever since. I have worked hard to create a life that has allowed me to help my family and friends when they have needed it, and I did so with Hunter."

Best round that is cost effective to reload

Probably been discussed a million times but I suck using the search feature. Looking to buy a rifle but not sure what round to get into. Wanting to be able to reach out to 1000 reliably and accurately while staying affordable. I have been reloading for a while and plan to for this. My first thought was going to 6.5 creedmoor but from what I am seeing, h4350 is about the only option, and the lowest I’ve seen it is $53/pound. Seems pretty steep to me.

Question about buy/sell and what is normal

I have been a member for a while and have bought numerous things from the buy/sell forum. I just recently signed up as a supporter to be able to sell things.

Whenever I have bought something I have sent payment to the seller within minutes.

How long is reasonable to wait for someone to make payment? I get people are busy, might be at work and can’t log in, whatever but if someone posts on your thread “I’ll take it” what is a reasonable timeframe for them to make payment arrangements?

I am not making a complaint about a specific instance but just in general if someone posts “I’ll take it“ and then they don’t contact you or reply to a PM how long should you wait on them? If nothing is heard in 24 hours would it be unreasonable to write them off and post the item is still available? More time, less time? What I am wondering is what is the proper protocol for this.

New Labradar LX

While it looks nice, how it works is another story and if you ask me, they missed the boat by years. Too little too late. We shall see.....

Garmin vs. Labradar, what do you think is better for (ME).

Read a few other posts and what a mess. This is all I want to know.

If you don't want to read all the dribble below.

Airguns, centerfire rifle, black powder large bore rifle, what works best, and by works gives me numbers on the screen. Easy setup, I don't mind a tablet or laptop coming along, but would rather not, record to a SD card or internal would be just fine, that can be downloaded later.

What works better?

Thats it,.....all I want. One one works the best.

Currently I own a "old style" Caldwell chrono, shoot between the hoops kind of thing. I have had to add extra LED lights to the thing as the ones it was built with are not good enough to work well on even a halfway cloudy day. That means an extra battery I need to haul around, along with a tripod for the thing. So I have a big box with the chrono, another big box with the tripod on top of all the other crap I have to take.

It is a big enough pain in the ass I just don't take it anymore. Just let where the holes go in the paper be my guide. Thing is I want that extra data. I shoot LOTS of things that are well over 100 years old, and I don't like to push them that hard. Getting FPS numbers is, at least I see it as where the rubber meets the road. The book might put you in the ballpark, but those numbers out of your rifle over a minimum of 5 rounds tells you the real deal.

What is more easy to setup, more easy to get good results, and not ERR-10 out of. Fuck I hate that Bang 985, Bang 992, Bang 843, Bang error.....ahhhh fuck you machine, I am going to aim lower and blow a 11mm hole right down the middle of you.

I want it to work well on everything from air guns to .30 centerfire to large black powder rifles.....and don't get me started on smoke and this stupid chronograph.....at least I think it is the smoke.

So what is better, I don't want an "old school" chrono where the bullet is measured between two "posts", I don't want anything strapped to the underside of the rifle, as I see that as flat fucking stupid. It is a me thing, don't bother trying to change my mind on it, if that is all you have to offer, thanks but no thanks. I will not buy it.

In my world both these devices are not cheap, so what will work with my stated needs, I will buy one when the snow melts.

Thanks.

Hey @Green Hood, please kindly explain why your join date is back in December 2020, and you were silent for 3+ years?

Why is it that starting yesterday, you began posting heavily in the Bear Pit primarily, and in some welcome threads and technical threads, which appeared you just piggy backed off of some existing posts, making it look like you know what you’re talking about?

Those pictures you posted in the food thread… Google images?

Sincerely,

Bolt gun velocities vs gas gun velocities?

New to ARs here. Acquired a Seekins SP10 in 6.5 CM. If the Hornady 140 ELDM box states 2710 fps in a 24” barrel, I assume that’s a bolt action. In a gas gun, what would that velocity be? I’m shooting a 22” barrel and reading I might expect a 40-50 fps drop due to 2” shorter barrel. I don’t have a chronograph but shoot 100-200 yd groups and infer initial velocity from that drop. I realize a 100-300 yd drop would yield a more accurate inference but don’t have easy access to 300 yds. So I’m wondering how fast these 140 ELDMs are leaving my barrel? So is it expected to lose velocity for 2 different reasons: gas vs bolt and shorter barrel? If anyone has chronographed their 6.5 CM Seekins SP10 without suppressor shooting 140 ELDMs, I would be very much interested in their results. Thank you.

LR 308 ugly bitch whore Frankengun

So the very franken lr308 that brought me to this place has entered the final phase of tinkering g and load development.
Adjustable gas block- heavy spring and buffer . Nice trigger , epsilon muzzle break .
Function in now 100%
Accuracy load development is coming along .
168 match monsters over 43 grains Varget .

after much reading here about shooting large frame gasser and trial and error . I’ve figured out how this pig likes to be driven .
The three shots on the right of above target is from bipod and rear bag- three into right at 1inch .

The three shots touching circled in blue on the right just under .5 inch were fired with bipod loaded with forward pressure- firm grip on handguard rifle pulled firmly back into shoulder and close attention paid to follow through- wait for recoil impulse to cease, allow trigger forward to reset .

Both groups fired with exactly the same ammo same magazine- shot one after the other at 100 yards with a gusting 12-16 mph westerly wind(blowing left to right )- . Driving a gasser is different than a bolt as we all know - now that I’ve got it running and think I’m done tinkering with it with the exception of playing with seating depth a little more learning how to drive a particular rifle especially this ugly bitch makes the difference between a MOA rifle and half MOA rifle

Suppressors Rooftop Defense: non-autistic suppressor reviews (no dB)

So I happened upon Rooftop Defense, the name of which I assume is a play on “rooftop Korean” as the fellow looks Asian.

He is doing suppressor evaluations that do not include any dB numbers (thank the gods). And he doesn’t talk too much and appears not high on pre-workout, unlike a certain Pew guy.

He f/a fires 100 rounds through them, shoots different ammo, shoots in the dark and shoots right at the camera for a section about flash suppression, etc. Uses a M249 to test back pressure. Ingenious. I like it.

He looks at the KAC and RC3 etc in other vids. He states he uses only brand new cans.

I noticed in his 3D printed can reviews that there is some sparks and flame at the end of the 100rd burst. I assume that’s because 3D cans have bits of metal in them left over from production, and that’s what is catching on fire (not the can itself). I assume NBD.

Anyway, I finally found a channel that reviews cans in some sort of non-autistic way (lol) AND the tests seem well done/meaningful.
