The U.S. says the five men were U.S. Army Special Operations aviation soldiers conducting a routine refueling flight at the time of the crash. The Pentagon identified the deceased as the following:

  • Chief Warrant Officer 3 Stephen R. Dwyer, 38, of Clarksville, Tennessee
  • Chief Warrant Officer 2 Shane M. Barnes, 34, of Sacramento, California
  • Staff Sgt. Tanner W. Grone, 26, of Gorham, New Hampshire
  • Sgt. Andrew P. Southard, 27, of Apache Junction, Arizona
  • Sgt. Cade M. Wolfe, 24, of Mankato, Minnesota

Can a pulled barrel be put back on?

Friend is selling an older 700. Has a 243 sporter barrel on it. He changed it to a remage and shot it a few times.

He's planning to sell the receiver and wants me to put the factory barrel back on (I bought the shit for remages). Would it just thread/torgue back? Or would it need to have the chamber recut? We're using the orginal recoil lug and plan to use gauges, but wsnted an answer before tearing it apart again.

308 Help

One of the great things about this forum is that a lot of times, the members have already figured out the answer to a question so I am hoping that is the case here. I have a small ranch outside of Houston. It is only 200 acres but the farmer/rancher that leases land from us estimates that he suffered $20 to $25k damage from feral pigs tearing up crops, pasture, damaging fences and other equipment. We even have two cases of livestock being injured.

What I have done about it is get some cattle dogs (1/2 Anatolian/GPD) and they do a good job keeping things away from the livestock. I have hired a trapping company that has been active but they have not done much to actually mitigate property damage. I keep an AR with me in the truck and if I see them I will shoot one or two which leads to my observations and questions. The 16" AR has about a 60% kill ratio with solid hits. It is amazing to me how some of the pigs will shrug off a 77 grain 5.56.

After speaking with some of the other land owners in the area, they recommend that I step up to 308. I would like to get a semi-auto because we have seen groups of pigs as large as fifty strong. The other thing they recommend is baiting fields and shooting them at night. I do not have NODS but the guys I have spoken with typically use a dedicated thermal scope or an optic with an inline thermal that clips on the rail in front of the primary optic.

I have an unused Sandman S as a can so it will be suppressed. I do not care if I have to go through a Form 1 procedure with the ATF. I am not looking to shoot at pigs a 1/4 mile away. This is going to be carried in the truck and grabbed quickly to take random shots or I am going to use it at night to kill as many pigs as I can on a baited trap.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Stolen! Very Special Handgun!

I would like to ask everyone to keep an eye out for a very special one of a kind handgun! It was stolen last week from a storage facility in Colorado and was a gift from me to my son Daylon when he graduated from boot camp. As you can see in the pics below it is very unique and means a great deal to him. Thanks!

JFK Someone's finally coming forward with the truth.

The attending physicians are saying there was an entrance wound in the front of his neck...and concluding there must have been more than one shooter. No shit, that one was from the grassy knowl. The one that made his heat go UP AND BACK came from a storm sewer below and in front. Why arent they talking about that one?

shipping insurance and PayPal

I wanted to start a conversation on buying and selling on this forum when it comes to shipping, shipping insurance and the courier used and PayPal. At what point does the responsibility of the seller end and the responsibility for the buyer begin? I think this is a fairly straightforward answer.

First my stance on the issue. I do not believe the seller is responsible for the package from beginning to end. Obviously if you as the seller package the items like crap and things are damaged, or if you sell a product broken and don't disclose that, you are fully responsible and you're a dirtbag thief. What I am talking about is if the seller follows the deal outlined in the add fully, is prompt and sends the package the way parties agreed, such as USPS priority mail, Fedex, UPS - insured or not insured, then once it is shipped, then the courier has the box and the responsibility to get that box to the buyer is with courier, not the seller. If the package is lost in transit that's the couriers fault not the seller, but is the seller obligated to refund money? EVEN if the package was fully or partially insured, still the responsibility is on the courier and the buyer to recover the insured value with the amount of insurance they purchased, if it was offered and purchased the original deal. Sure maybe the seller needs to file some claim paperwork for the buyer to get his/her money but that I am sure isn't an issues for most.

If a seller does not offer insurance as part of the deal and you do not prompt the seller to add insurance then I believe that is on the buyer. Why would you assume your item is insured if it is not clearly stated in the add? If unsure, then ask! You agreed to a deal, that deal did not include extras you did not pay for or asked for. Most of us are not a business where we have product laying around we can just resend, or charge back to the manufacture.

Now the sticky issue with PayPal. Paying with goods and services vs paying friends and family. So apparently the process for making a claim on PayPay does not differentiate between these two. As soon as a complaint is made, your account is deducted money, without investigation, without due process with either option. PayPal holds the money till the "investigation" is complete (up to 30 days). You go through a long process of providing "evidence" and have to wait for their decision. In the meantime, you are sent an email saying your account will be reviewed because you sold goods and services without paying the fee and your account status will be reviewed. Meaning, one will probably lose PayPal access. So FF is always good to save a little money with a buddy, but you could lose your privilege of use if you do FF with a stranger, even if the buyer chose to pay you FF, chose not to add insurance or more insurance, but then files a claim.

This is a place for fellowship, making friends and support a community of like minded people, no one wants to hurt anyone or make enemies? When a package is lost, it hurts us all and the classified section. My advice, always insure for at least your cost, if you don't it's your risk. So what is your option on this guys?

How bad did I F*** up?

I will start with I am not a hunter but love to shoot. My family has some property that my brother hunts every year. My wife and I decided we wanted to shoot our pistols today (opening day weekend for rifle hunting deer). We went about 3:30 pm shooting in a valley where we has year round tragets and he was hunting 3 ridges over, about .5 miles as the crow flies.

Just how inconsiderate was this from a hunters perspective?

You could hear others out shooting all around so it wasn't like we were the only ones making noise. I figured if anything our shots would scare any deer towards my brother. I think the worst part is he and I discussed me target shooting this weekend on Thursday and how it could piss some people off. I even said I try not to shoot at the property during deer season just to be respectful but I figured the day was almost over (gets dark around 5 this time of year), we weren't near him, and we weren't shooting big rifles, just 9mm and .40

Kool Aid Pop Quiz

Was out at the range today with @TheGerman (Yes he is still alive, and everything you have heard is true) and ran into someone who either drank all of the kool aid, or got personal lessons from @clcustom1911 .

We did a quick zero check on our MK12's when someone pulled up asking if we were shooting at 100 yards towards True North. We think he was trying to impress us with his "knowledge" towards a certain concept. He then asked how we shot off the deck comfortably, asked if we had shooting mats, and if we wanted him to setup his spotter to watch our target. We both had to hold in laughter as we went up to our FFP and shot for the rest of the afternoon, watching this guy shoot toward True North at 100 yards.

I am curious if this "discovery" was his ah-ha moment at home when he found a new scapegoat to blame his poor performance on instead of the usual suspects. He can now tell all his friends that this is the only reason why he has "bad days" at the range. Remember his rifle is a tack driver, all he has to do is his job behind the rifle.

So the pop quiz question, why was he so worried about True North? Wrong answers only.
