I’m looking for a bolt rifle that I intend to shoot 1,000-1,500yds with. Just recreationally shooting, not PRS competitions. I don’t need ultra-light, but I also don’t want a boat anchor.

I currently have .308 and 6.5creedmoor that handle my 1000yds and in needs, but am wanting to get into the ~1500yd+ range.

I’ve been eyeing the new tikka t3 game/target models in 7mm prc. The ~$2,000 price range is about right, and I like that it’s a factory gun rather than me piecing something together without the proper knowledge.

The 7mm PRC seems like a decent cartridge to stay supersonic to the ranges I need, carry some energy if I ever wanted to hunt with it, but also not beat me up like a magnum cartridge would.

Am I on the right track, or what other options for rifle/caliber should I be considering in this price range for my purposes?

Guys I thought it was a joke at first. After reading the comments I have determined that they have the iq of a potato. They believe the Ranger is too dangerous and leads to fatalities that could have been prevented if you were in a smaller car.

I found a Anschutz 1710 at a DFW (Allen,Tx) vendor. I'll attach photos. Please tell me what I am looking at inside the action. The salesperson said this was from inserting a chamber flag. I told him that's ridiculous he expected me to believe that. I told him that, then he replied he would send it to be re-barreled. I came back to check if it was sent and it was still there, exact same condition! Not even an attempt to clean it up!

The chamber inlet bottom it appears to be very rough, perhaps cracked?

Also what throws me is the 22.75 inch barrel. It's that a normal size? It was NOT threaded.

Found a local with a Nightforce ATACR 5-25X56 MOAR Reticle C445. Guy wants $1600 for it. I've never looked at one of these, any issues to be aware of? Was thinking about putting it on a new Vudoo for NRL/PRS.

I've been making a couple revisions to my SPR and SPRecce, one of which is keeping some dope on the inside of the ocular covers again as a fall back option. In the past, I'd use some masking tape but this time I thought I'd make something "fancy". I know there are commercial options available but I didn't really like them so I took a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B to make something tailored to the two guns. Plus side is it also didn't cost me any money. I "laminated" them with clear packing tape and trimmed the tape so that it would catch on the inside of the cap to stay put. It's a bit janky but it works. I attached the template sheet in case anyone wants to use them, the larger one is 1.75" in diameter and the smaller one is 1.50" in diameter.

i talked to seekins this week and unfortunately it looks like the sp10 builder kits are being permanently discontinued as far as they can see. So if you see anyone selling one and it's real, snatch it up.

Looking at building my first long action cartridge for ELR specifically, and have it pretty much narrowed down to 300 WSM and 300 Norma.

I'm leaning toward the WSM based on the facts that:

• There's Lapua Brass for $1 cheaper than Norma
• 65 gr of powder vs Norma's 80ish
• Abundance of excellent load data from the BR crowd, along with a lot of records having been set at 1k with them
• I can load lighter 200s with my current stock of h4350 if I want
• I can be a hipster and do something less mainstream, I guess?
• I can shoot 220 Hybrids with the same BC as a 230 Hybrid, or if I want more BC, I can step down to the 2800 FPS node, and shoot a 230 A-Tip

As far as I can tell the biggest arguments against the WSM is that it's not any good as a short action calibur, and isn't using the potential of the long action if you go that way, but... Does it actually lose anything to a 300 WM or PRC shooting 230s?



I understand that you can push a 245 hybrid from a PRC and Win Mag, but at that point, why bother with either when you can do it more comfortably from a 300 Norma?

Is anyone on snipershide shooting a WSM? By the looks of it, it's the red headed step child of the ELR possible cartridges.
