More specifically, "Esso" (Standard Oil of NJ) had the "tiger" as their spokesperson (i.e. Put a "Tiger in your tank."). Hence the tails attached to the gas cap. They even brought the tiger back from retirement when Esso changed its name to "Exxon."

Trivia Quiz: Who knows all the division of "Standard Oil" and what they became after the anti-trust break up?

1) Std. Oil of NJ (became "Esso" after acquiring Humble Oil and Refining Co in Humble Texas) but also had "Enco" in portions of the South and "EnJay" in other portions of the Midwest (Detroit). in 1973 the whole thing became "Exxon." Esso also owned some of the satellite companies before they split off (Ohio Oil Co. --> Marathon, Continental Oil Co --> CONOCO, Atlantic Oil Co --> Atlantic, then Atlantic RIchfield, then ARCO).

2) Std. Oil of NY (became "Mobil" ) and, of course, merged with Exxon later on to become "Exxon/Mobil."

3) Std. Oil of Ohio (became SOHIO in Ohio but had a sister division "BORON" in PA).

4) Std. Oil of Indiana (beccame the "American Oil Company" or AMOCO).

5) Std. Oil of California (Became Chevron). But did business as "Standard Oil" for a while in the South and west.

There were other satellite companies etc. but these were the ones that had "Standard Oil of..." in the title.
Thank you Cliff Clavin;)

So, I have noticed that us "conservatives" are now doing exactly what the libtards do.

Life is so good for us, we now search for stuff to get our panties twisted and bunched.

For some reason, we now have ourselves convinced that traumatized humans will react and do as we "conservatives" do.

I don't suppose any of us conservatives have ever seen a strange reaction from a person. I have seen people laugh when they are under extreme stress and fear. It's part of their fight or flight system they were born with.

I have watched a young man shoot 5 times at a deer, with a rifle, and never fired a round. The young man was so excited that he aimed at the deer, cycled the bolt without dropping the hammer, didn't see the animal react to the shot and convinced himself he missed. We had to physically show him the unfired "06 rounds laying in the mud.

I have killed an elk at 17yds with a 300WM and my 180gr Nosler Partition didn't exit the chest cavity. At 17yds, the impact flipped the elk over onto it's back where it was stone cold dead.

I learned years and years ago to let someone be who they are, don't project yourself on to others.

Let people be who they are, you won't change them. All you will gain by trying to fix them is your own stress and unhappiness.

Maggie’s THE "NOM NOM NOM" THREAD

It’s salsa Saturday….
Had about 6# of Roma tomatoes left after the garden was cleaned out. Wanted to try this commercial mix.

All that’s needed is the mix, 6# of peeled, cored tomatoes and a half cup of white vinegar.

It’ll give a yield of about 12 half pints.

That’s it, other than grinding some dried peppers I’m done with canning or garden work. Time to start thinking about chasing deer.
