25cm or 6cm

Splitting hairs I have both. I’m on my 4th 25 creed barrel mostly 134 Eldms and 135 ‘s. My 6 is all 109 bergers. The 6 creedmoor seems a bit more forgiving to reload and definitely less recoil. My 25’s get a bit better barrel life. The 25 is going to get more popular now that it’s Sami and factory loads become available, more brass choices etc. if it was just deer and I didn’t shoot a bunch I would probably go with the 6 but it’s seriously so close it doesn’t matter. 6mm stuff does seem easier to come by than the 25, I’m talking barrels and bullets.

Check out this piece of shit

While he is a massive piece of dogshit....he does have a 1st Amendment right to be a massive piece of dogshit. Still needs his ass whipped

Technically, the First Amendment protects you from the government bringing you to justice for speech. Doesn't protect you from civilians bringing you to justice for speech. 😏

Good shoot, but who was the fucking idiot who kept walking into the line of fire? Spouse of the hostage maybe?

Regardless, good shoot but there’s a lot of things to take away from that re: how fucking stupid the average citizen is when it comes to firearms safety, or even basic cause and effect (AKA Common Sense).

Seeking Low Back Pressure .30cal Can (so many choices)

36ti's first impressions:

I once shot a half dozen rounds from a buddy’s bolt gun with a popular can from 10 years ago. I think it was a Gen1 RPR. I was blown away with the amount of suppression and have been pining for one ever since. Beyond that I have zero experience firing suppressed. A few months ago, I put out this inquiry for suggestions, and thank you for the responses.

As mentioned I went with the new HUXWRX 36ti in the hopes of getting it my on the 8mm M76 (found a guy that does a custom hub to FH adapter) and M49, optimistic that the newer flow-through design would behave well on them as well as other semi milsurps. This was an interesting experience. I had three hosts to revolve through a few weeks ago. I shot five round groups before and after install and observed peculiar (to me), inconsistent results between rifles:

RPR in .308
  • This is a sub MOA gun when I do my part with the ammo it likes (so far best is 168gr FGM)
  • When suppressed it’s PoI shifted 3.5” down x 1.5” left and group sixe unchanged.
  • Report was a fairly sharp, loud snap but does not ring the ears
RAR in 7.62x39
  • This is a 1.25” gun with best performing ammo, so far, being 1970s Rommy surplus :-/
  • PoI shift was 2.5” straight up with no drift in windage with no change in group size.
  • Report was a pleasant but sharp snap
LAR8 Elite Operator (basically Rock River’s AR10 pattern from 10+ years ago)
  • I fired a string with it’s Vortex flash hider and got about 2+” group using XM80 Lake City, 150gr “ball”
  • I then fired a string, bare-muzzle (w/o the Smith Ent, “Vortex”that came with it and I got about 1.5” group (THAT was a surprise)
  • Next, I fired five rounds with the 36ti and got the same 1.5” group with literally NO PoI shift (huh?)
  • Report was quite a loud crack+POW that would almost ring my ear.
  • Perhaps not hearing damaging loud for a few rounds BUT not nearly the amount of suppression as the .308 or x39 bolt guns. Is this to be expected? Yes I know to wear "ears" but wanted to "hear" the difference.
All in all, I was pleased with the performance on the two bolt guns. From what I’ve read I believe a traditional baffled can would be even quieter on bolt guns. Yes? Suggestions for after we can buy them less encumbered (fingers crossed)?

Takeaway/questions:
  • Is it typical for such a PoI shift with vs. w/o the can.
    • Strange that the .308 RPR would shift down and to the left whereas the x39 RAR would shift straight up. Harmonics of the RR .308's bull barrel seemed to conveniently result in no shift(?)
  • While I need to do further testing it’s also interesting/revealing that after all these years the Vortex flash hider unbeknownst to me, may have been hindering accuracy on the LAR8
    • Why no PoI shift on the AR10 ?
  • AND why I this semi-auto vs. the bolt guns so much louder. Typical? I assume moving parts and places for gasses/sound to escape?
Thank you for taking to time to review this and offer any contributive insights.

talk me outta a MOA scope….😳

I am not a Ford V Chevy guy, and I get a kick out of the MOA/MIL debate.

I think in inches/MOA and since I'm almost 50 and don't shoot PRS or something that is forcing me to get to maximum efficiency, I'm not switching.

Works out for me that the market prefers Mil scopes, I'll take the deals on the MOAs.

With apps like applied ballistics, I don't see that it matters much regardless. I might have a very different opinion if I was competing, but I tend to use scopes with enough reticle that I'm not adjusting knobs and know my drops out to the ranges I'll actually shoot.

And, I still applaud USO for offering IPHY because not kidding that my FDN17 is indeed in plain old inches. I've managed to shoot out to 1000 with it on an 18" 308 nonetheless.

Sub MIL for sewer rat.
