Same. I've shot a lot of groups where 3-4 of them look great and the 1-2 outliers make me think it's a trash group. Then I'm pleasantly surprised when it's still a .8" group.

I think 7 twist originally caught on because "mil-spec bro!" and then hung around because the general consensus is that faster twist is needed for heavier bullets and heavier bullets tend to be match bullets that are more accurate. So people took that to mean faster twist=better accuracy.
Obviously it's not quite that simple, but given how retarded most people on arfcom or reddit are it's no wonder that this stuff is so prevalent.

Not saying 7 twist is bad, but given the bullet weights you can fit in an AR mag in 223/5.56 I find 7 twist to have no advantages and potential for some disadvantages.

Then you don't need a 700. I have 5 m70/spr rifles and never had the itch for a 700. I think the spr is a much superior rifle. I'll buy it off you if you don't want it lol.

Why do you think that Microsoft needs you to DL/ install/ enable Copilot and agree to the EULA to harvest your data?

You already said that you're using their operating system- Windows.

Copilot grabs what info you give it- whether that means prompting it directly in chat or setting up an agent to go out and do other stuff with the data that you provide it.

Mike uses factory receivers because he trusts them and knows how to make them Great. He totally overhauls them. Money is not a factor in his decision.

Do you really need a standard 700 in your arsenal if you already have other basic bolt guns that do the same thing? Especially since it sounds like you don't even know what specific role it is meant to fill..

You want a 700 action, but are going to limit yourself to just one barrel at a time that needs gunsmith fitting?

Not a problem. But... by the time you work a factory 700 into something that feels good and is worth the investment of a good, aftermarket barrel - you will be out as much as a lot of the 700 clone actions cost, and without as many features.

If you just want a factory 700 rifle, then just get one. Usually with bedding and a trigger upgrade they'll shoot pretty decently. However, a pinnacle of modern factory firearms it is not.

Yeah I would not be impressed with what you described. But I have never seen a temp sticker on a barrel! Pretty sure I would not bother, kind of like using a pop up temp thingy on a turkey, not accurate and general waste of time.

I’m in NY on the CT border, so sheepdog is my usual range for matches along with granby in MA but there new laws have made it a little sketchy since they are so ambiguous. I’m willing to travel if I could get some people local to me that are willing to drive to matches that are with in 8 or so hours of driving. I think war is right around 3 hours from me, so that might become a new spot for matches since it’s only a hour longer drive that sheepdog or granby.

I RO’d the first showdown match and it was experience see how everything was getting done but that was the first two day match there, so I chalked up some stuff to growing pains. The VPRC match definitely looks like a good time and I believe a few guys from my region went down, so maybe I’ll talk to them and see if I can tag along next go.

I was both those locations only went out to 6-750 but both push out to 1000 and I haven’t found any local outlaw matches so I’m stuck paying $60ish per match

You think it’s twice the price until you take that $450 factory 700 and send it to a smith to have it trued, recoil lug pinned, bolt handle done and scope base holes trued and opened and then you are another $400 into the turd to make it $850 when you could have bought a custom for $900. Your money but buying a 700 now and putting any money into it is a big mistake IMHO.

If you don’t have a need to change barrels or bolt faces then you must not shoot a lot as if you do you will want to and it will save you money down the road. It will also save you money if you wanted to try a new caliber you just need to change the barrel and maybe a bolt face and not get a new scope and rifle. It’s more of a long term way to look at it.

Yeah I know but they sell a ton of them. But cool, Origen action and check out Bugholes, TS Custom, PVA or one of the fine supporters here, pick your barrel and get what you want fairly quick.

The recoil lug is fine and all you need is the washers or you could just shorten the screws with a grinder but it takes some work. There should be no slop. I have a couple Vudoos in MPA Matrix Pros and both with 1.2” barrels. No issues.

I really don’t want a proof. Too many my proof won’t shoot threads. Circa 2016-2020.
