Rimx with ModX conversion likes Vudoo mags better than RimX Mags

Well now I'm curious: do all RimX guns work with Vudoo mags, or just the ModX conversion ones?
It appears to be with just the ModX conversion.

I'm doing a study that involves the major players for AICS style Rimfire Magazines, DBMs, Chassis Systems, Mag Releases, Catch Block Locations, Constraints, etc., to properly chart failure modes based on what has been shared about what has troubled many.

I purposely didn't start the RimX mag study until after I designed the feed stack in the new V-Series mags and I've noted quite a number of similarities between the RimX and my legacy Nylon magazine (the V-Series is depicted in the overlay below), although at first glance, they appear very different. So, it's not difficult to make the legacy Nylon mag work in a RimX, but it's pretty obvious why the RimX won't work in a V-22 without major changes to many V-22 components.

I'm pretty happy with what I'm seeing.

Covid Vax BS

Here's an odd little food for thought. I am somewhat limited in my knowledge of vaccines, so please take this with a grain of salt...

Currently (and always) there are/were zero FDA or USDA approved mRNA vaccines for use in cattle or feeder animals. I think there is only one RNA approved for swine flu in pigs. I'd have to research this more before stating with 100% confidence, but let's say that I'm 99% right now... I mean I buy this stuff constantly for local producers.

^ That little factoid was one of my reasons for avoiding the jab. That and my studying on the length of development and efficacy of influenza vaccines... not to mention that you're trying to hit a moving target.

New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me

I was lucky enough to be sent to Police Sniper School. There was two parts, basic and advanced.

The pictures below were from a challenge for about $300 in swag and gift cards. 1 inch circle on the card at 100 yards, cold bore. We had 20 seconds to go from standing behind our rifles to drop, load and fire.

The first picture (Ace pointed down) was from the basic. I did not win.

i improved (slightly) in the advanced course, but still did not win. But I did win a different challenge later which is the third picture.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Home Defense Suggestions

Different weapons and ammunition choices for different situations. Your circumstances aren't mine and vice versa.

I've often said that an LEO response is at LEAST 40 minutes away for me. Therefore, I traded the ease of some weapon systems for the lethality of a 5.56 rifle. I consider that my primary, but I have a pistol in my nightstand to get me to the rifle... which is only a few more steps away.

I also have reinforced strike plates in all my exterior doors that are screwed into triple studs. Then all of my exterior windows have 3M film on them. Neither will prevent a break in... but you aren't breaching my exterior in under 20 seconds, even with tools. That's more than adequate time for me to come to my senses and prepare a response. I also have a large dog that challenges all strangers.

The liklihood of one lone crackhead trying to force his way into my house at night out here - is much lower than the possibility of 3-4 dudes trying to enter to take everything from me. So I determined what I need to TRY to respond to 3-4 armed dudes, and set up accordingly. I'm already handicapped by numbers, no point in handicapping myself in equipment too.

If I lived by myself in an apartment complex, my setup would be much different.

YMMV.

So I'm seeing more and more short 308s in my neck of the woods seems odd

Smallify the case some, use a long bullet with good sectional density. 16" 223s, 6 arc, and 6.5 grendel aren't to bad on the ears with a suppressor. O don't think anyway. I shoot lo g barreled bolt actions with suppressors with ear plugs too. I was suprised at the bark and blast of my 18" 308, way more than my 21" 6 creed and 21" 280. Both of which are far and away superior in the wind.

What a good gunsmith

I have a mtu contour 6.5mm bartlein blank i just need to send it in somewhere. I didn't know that Impact and lone peak barrels are interchangeable. Very good to know.
Their prints are different but they are common enough where the critical dimensions are the same. I cut both the same. They are interchangeable until they are engraved. The markings will not line up moving between an Impact and Fuzion.

Send the barrel to a smith and have them make a prefit for you. Contrary to what some think a smith does make a prefit. lol Find a good smith that will spin you up a prefit and send him the barrel and put it on when it gets done. Simple. No need to ship the action out and add more cost and hassle to the mix.

Glock with a rmr on the slide and a low lumen light so you don’t blind yourself.

In the theoretical situation that the guy is at your feet etc..you don’t want a thumb safety or grip safety getting in the way.

You’ll be groggy, half blind from being startled, not have your glasses on etc, and in a low light situation.

You want to, grab, point in the general direction, and pull until the target is down then reassess.

Simplicity is your friend

If this is the “defending your home” like a crew of guys are breaking in, then you grab your AR with a 30 round mag

If you think you going to stop a “hit” squad by yourself..you’re already dead. Say you’ll blow them because if several guys came to kill you for a reason it’s over. Lots of bad guys dies in the desert thinking they can stop a determined forced every

Bartlein vs PVA Osprey

I have an Osprey 308 that shoots pretty dang good…but I didn’t know they’ll make prefits from other blanks 🧐
We cut customer supplied barrels if you have something you want to use specifically. The availability of product drives the industry, if you have something in hand that you want cut it's not a problem.

We have a long standing service with Evolved Ballistics to custom cut Proof blanks if someone wants a barrel they don't stock/make as a prefit.

It's not a problem for us if you have a loyalty to a blank maker. This business started that way, we just can't maintain our customer base's expectations waiting for 14 months on blanks from some of the big names and we have the capability to make excellent barrels here.

Yup Josh said it above in his post. Send them whatever blank you like to use and they can spin it up. Also I believe they still keep the measurements of your action, if it’s not a set prefit action, so you don’t have to send it in again. He did it for my Surgeon action so I didn’t have to send it in to get a barrel done for it. @bohem you still doing that?

ADG Brass Not Growing After multiple firings, would you still bump the shoulder?

Not apples to apples, but my 223AI has never needed the shoulders bumped as they never grew and always drop right in after a little love on the base. Good thing for me as the Redding Comp bushing die won't go any further down in my Co-Ax.

If your cases chamber easily after running through your FL die, whether bumping the shoulder or not, what more do you need? If you are as anal as I, you can go to the trouble of pulling your firing pin and extractor and check if the bolt drops on a sized case with no or very very little effort. If this happens and no effort is needed, you should be golden.

The above paragraph is how I set up many of my FL dies. I'm older and lazier now and just bump .002" on boltguns. If factory ammo is available, I do my break in with it. I have found Lapua Brass usually needs a couple firings to get fireformed and the ADG brass maybe as hard.

.50 BMG B.S.

My Dad was a machine gunner in the S. Pacific WWII. He would never talk about it except for some funny anecdotes.(bouncing bullets off crocks with a tommy-gun or running out of the crapper to dive in a hole during incoming mortar fire) Finally, I pried a few gory details out of him. Damn…….Still he never ever talked about the folks he’d killed. Not one word.

I still can’t believe this kind, generous, strong man that I knew as my father, saw and did those things. I can’t believe he just wasn’t damaged goods after that.

He had two families, 12 kids, lived to 94, died peacefully in his bed.

I miss you every day Dad.

^ A true hero.

The story very much reminds me of my grandfather who served on a destroyer escort in the pacific (Fletcher class). Was in basically every naval battle during the entire island hopping campaign. The only time he ever opened up was when I was visiting before going to recruit training for the Marines. Told me a few stories, and I got to look through his photo album.

He always went to bed after 3-4 strong drinks on the rocks. Never did he lose his temper or show signs of aggression to his family. It was only after my career did I recognize his signs of PTSD.

Came home after the war and raised a family, while being a college professor.

He was only about 5'4", but he was a mountain of a man.
