Agreed. I’ve owned all 3. When the Ares came out, it was great, but Athlon had just joined the scene and was making waves and the Vortex PSTII was the closest thing at the time. There are things I liked better about the Ares at the time.

The Ares is ok for the money, but I do not think it is worth the extra money either. I do think the Midas Tac 6-24 is very good for the money and know people that use them in comps… no illum as stated. I have used the Helos BTR as well, and it was nice for the money as well. The Midas Tac is what I usually recommend down near that price range.

Only life, but I lack the constitution for suicide and I have commitments that I must fulfill that take priority over my preferences.

Regarding all the requirements of living in society that you mentioned, I don’t assign emotional value to them as the ramifications of breaking the rules are greater than the temporary satisfaction of defiance.

Titanium sleeve barrels

Another day, another gimmick.
Tensioned/sleeved barrels have been around forever (Straightjacket, and whatever the fuck they were called before that...)

Not anything like CF wrap.
It's a sleeve, titanium in this case (Straightjacket uses aluminum) and the void between the sleeve and the barrel core is filled with some sort of proprietary epoxy compound. Thermal conductivity is gonna depend on the compound filling the void and not the titanium sleeve.

Civilians could come and go to use the post office and a lot of women hung out at the small club they had. We called them buffarillas. Most were looking for husbands

you are pissing me off-because i can not say you are wrong about any in your above 2 posts. your conflating the ROL with fear of losing control should be etched in stone. ashamed i didn't think of it. i know the ROL is a control item. but i didn't see their obsession with maintaining it as manifesting fear and the knowledge that if an anticipated end stage event happens the "right" would lose any acceptance of it. i have always known that the ROL is a distraction item and an excuse to do nothing effective. just didn't add fear to the reasons they push it.

PRS Talk PRS Match participation taking a hit in 2025?

I’m not a prs member and I don’t travel over 2 hours but for me on the matches close by I wasn’t going to pay 350 for the same thing again.
I did shoot the grave stone but that’s just because it was my first time going and someone was driving me, I won’t be paying 350 for it again.

Now that there are a couple club matches within two hours I may never shoot a two day again. Sure as hell won’t at over 300.

I know people have to make a living, but I don’t need to subsidize someone’s 80k dollar truck.

So maybe that’s small matches cannibalizing the larger… but from my perspective it’s the larger matches pushing me out and smaller matches stepping up and filling in the void.
