Rifle Scopes Burris XTR 3 Vs Athlon Cronus

I don’t have a Cronus and it’s been a long time since I’ve used one and don’t believe it was the current generation.

I do have an XTR3 3.3-18i here (had 4 of them not that long ago) and an Athlon Helos 4-20 which is a much lower end model than the Cronus and that Helos is better is just about every way than the XTR3. I’d say the turrets and reticle design are about equal with the Helos being a little easier to pick up on the low end but everything else goes to the Helos. The magnification, illumination, and parallax controls are smoother and less stiff, the illumination control isn’t like a circular saw blade, the image and glass quality is better, and the image quality doesn’t suffer on the higher magnification like the Burris does.

I couldn’t tell you if the FOV is larger on one or the other though. People like to tout that as an advantage on the Burris but if it is larger it’s not enough to make a noticeable difference in actual use and it certainly doesn’t make up for all of its other shortcomings.

I’d buy the Cronus over the Burris all day if those are the two options. Or a Helos and a case or two of ammo. Or a MK4HD, Bushnell Elite or any one of a number of other optics over an XTR3.

You should try that new Ares BTR G3 2.5-15x50 because it's such a killer scope for the price. Compared to the HG2 4-20 it's more refined in just about every way, almost daylight bright illume, and it has better IQ. Also the turrets are even nicer than the ETR's are and maybe better than the CG2 in that they are lower profile and wider.

AR suppressor problem

Just a suggestion as it is viable solution although costly. At least now it’s also not a year turnaround. I got one approved a month ago in 2 days on trust. For some it’s not necessarily a money issue. They just want their shit to work. I run a Flow 762 on a 11.5” sig 7.62x39 and it suppresses better than expected. YMMV. Having a flow through can for anything semi auto is gonna be advantageous.
Or, you can chase the problem with adjustable gas blocks, buffer weights, etc. still costs money and time. Time is money.

Interestingly, though, the actual law states 25 miles.

One of the things that most people don’t understand is that if you are a US citizen coming back into the country, they can search everything on you, including your phone.

The primary reason that I do not take a phone with me when I travel overseas is that even though I’m not a scumbag criminal, both the equivalent of the border patrol services in the foreign nation can generally do whatever they want and, our own border patrol can search your electronic devices when you return without a warrant.

Which is a really good reason to take a burner phone with you and leave your primary phone locked up in the safe powered off at home.

I don’t know about you guys, but I got all sorts of crap on my phone. None of it a problem but also none of it that anybody needs to see, play with, or decide to make something of it even though there’s nothing to be made of it, etc.
Unless you are suspected of something... or coming back from a weekend banging little kids in Thailand or Bogata... noone is going to bother your stuff. Most airports now are self-scanning. You have to set off the alarms to get flagged. And to get your phone searched... you are going to have to have a pretty poor set of answers to questions like 'What where you doing in Bankok for 5 days?' "I was there on a business trip with IBM at the facility on Banga banga street straightening out a software problem..." Is a good answer. "I was there on vacation and didn't really have an itinerary or any plans... will probably get you asked more questions."

The odds of getting searched are in direct proprtion to your sketchy behavior and ability to answer straightforward questions!
