Any reason you never see builds on Winchester Actions?

Fuck it, let’s start it up again

I've got a couple builds on the FN SPR action. I think that counts.

Sorry for the lack of decent photos, all the good ones are on my old phone.

6.5x47L. 26" Bartlein, McM A5, LRP S3. It does more than pretty good..

Maggie’s Best Guitar Solo

Because it's music/art, and everyone's taste is a little different, I do think you can split this into several different categories.
There is a difference between being able to play incredibly technically and fast, injecting massive amounts of soul, the best song writers, the most unique, different, and innovative techniques, etc., etc.

Frank Zappa said that Steve Vai was the best guitarist he's ever heard. How they met was that Vai took one of Zappa's wild, free wheeling jams, wrote it all down note-for-note in musical notation, and mailed it to him. Before he had heard a single riff from Vai's guitar he knew that this was an incredibly gifted person, and when he asked him to come play with him he said he was as blown away as he had hoped when he saw his own jam in musical notation that he could have never transcribed.

Powder IN-STOCK thread

Got my American "Similar to H4895 today".... its definitely not identical to H4895, so I assume it "burns like" H4895.. we will see when I get a chance to test it...

Here a picture i just took to compare them.. actual H4895 on the left, MP455 (Similar to H4895) on right.

They are completely different colors.. H4895 is a light tan....MP455 is a dark graphite grey..

H4895 has very consistent kernel shape and size... MP455 has inconsistent kernel shape and size...

We will see how it shoots and compares.

I have a hard time believing AR would mix powders. There are recent posts where new and old lots of Varget look different.

It could also be something like RG4895. I had quite a bit of that back when Wideners would sell 8 pounders for $109. It shot really well.

@westhewelder you got a problem.

Ah yes, I present to you the overweight, pale neck beard "welder" . Hes one of those faggots that reports comments he doesn't like on instagram while searching for the latest "drip" camo and "kit". GTFO and go back to Reddit, BTW the vitamin D you require is not in Tyrones pants. Get some sunlight for fucks sake. BurtG is our precious member and this slander will not do anything but get you berated like the cum stain you are. Good morning all

Any reason you never see builds on Winchester Actions?

you have a m54 action, about the same as m70 but with a shitty trigger that you can replace with a m70 trigger

It's always nice to see a guy who averages less than five posts per year - dig up something from 10.5 years ago like an angry girlfriend, and try to assert themselves on one of the more respected custom rifle builders in the industry.

Specific question on 1 piece scope mount location

I understand you want a scope mounted on the upper receiver only unless the upper receiver is monolithic. That makes perfect sense with scope rings. To get the top rail from the upper receiver and rail to line up perfectly I typically mount a 1 piece scope mount like the ADM and then tighten everything down. However.. if one were using an overbuilt Vltor MUR upper and a Geissele MK4 rail with anti rotation tabs AND an ADM Delta mount.. which will be used with a LPVO… would that be acceptable? I’m struggling to find a reason why it would lead to irregularities. And it sure would be nice to save $300 and use a mount I have.
I actually have a number of rifles that violate the protocol of not crossing the upper/ hand guard line. They all do well, so far. I have used Spuhr and now ZCO one piece mounts. These are not high volume per trip rifles but they get used frequently. To date I have not seen an issue. Is this evidence, no, am I temping fate, most likely.

tacom structured barrel

The basis is the harmonics and a few small other things. It is well known that a straight barrel tend to whip less. What they have done to what in reality is a straight profile barrel is to block the path of the barrel’s harmonics. They flute and drill based on computer simulations of the barrel’s harmonics. They are also changing the cooling thermodynamics reaction of the barrel. As I have said a few times I understand the Engineering of the idea. What I am unconvinced about ( due to the incomplete test protocols) is to what extent they are actually making meaningful change.
If is interesting that the new Noveske DDF series of barrels is claiming the same benefits. They have used a different easier path , no holes but deep rounded flutes, to gain the same results. This in principle should gain some of the desired outcomes with the ability to built at rate.
I am still interested, not enough to buy one, but interested nonetheless. I am waiting for more concrete studies and victory plaque evidence. But as always I love true innovation.

What upper receivers are you guys using to get a good thermal fit?

What brand is your lapping tool ?
I memory serves me... the Brownell's lapping tool fit my BCM uppers.... The PTG's would not fit the BCM's

That said... All my SOLGW stripped uppers are thermal fit... however they are all a few years old production.
The SOLGW uppers all have a snugger fit on ( between the upper and lower ) on various brand lowers.

From very snug on a BCM lower, ( have to slap it apart ) to much better on a PSA lower.
