7 saum

So at a dilemma, bought some H1000 and Ramshot Grand to try in my long throated 7 SAUM with 180gr ELDM. Going to be loading them at ~3.100" in a Tikka w/ LA bolt stop. Can't find any reloading data on the Grand so I contacted Hodgdon and they informed me that it hasn't been tested yet and didn't have a date for when they would get around to it.

So without wanting to wait I'm was planning on extrapolating load data for other loads and start low and watch for pressure. My question is has anyone tried Grand yet? I included a text document with load data from other powders for direct comparison.

While I applaud the piston and have absolutely no experience with it, my experience with vudoo mag failure has neen the rear mag tab hooking into the mag release acts as a pivot point allowing the mag front side to dip down when the rifle is jammed into a bag or barrier prop.

This was partially fixed by the industry offering longer “ file to fit” mag releases that get the mag up closer to the action with less pivoting. The real problem is the mags are physically smaller than the m5 pattern magwell, allowing enough room to pivot. That is why people stick velcro or something else the the mag to take up this wiggle room and keep the mag vertical.

I have tried installing set screws with rounded bottoms in both the front and the rear of the m5 magwell to eliminate this slop. The problem with getting a perfect rock free fit then induced a non drop- free situation where the mag would hang up without physically grabbing it out. I prefer the mag to drop free by itself , so I currently am just using longer mag releases in my vudoos for competition.

These pics are a good 5-6 years old, but are still relevant

Short Barrel Ranch Rifle Cartridge Choice

Agreed. Pretty much any sensible bullet can take deer size game and down. I just like the 308 for the times when I know I will be losing brass, like when shooting from my tree stand. I don’t have any cheap brass for my x47 or 22 GT unfortunately, and I hate combing through leaves to find Lapua and Alpha OCD 😝

Sturm Ruger has bought Anderson Manufacturing

They're a good machine shop with bad firearms standards. Ruger got a new machine shop, that's it. Really nothing to see here other than Ruger keeping up on production more effectively.

Adios to the worst AR manufacturer there was.
This is absolutely correct. They made AR stuff for some top manufacturers before they did their own. They were told to make there guns higher quality and price accordingly. Instead they held bad tolerance and did huge volume. I quit using their stuff years ago
