Tony Ben and his work on my M1A...

I feel like good work and good gunsmithing doesn't get enough attention... its a bit of a read....

Bottom line up front, get a hold of https://tonybenm14.com/ if you need work on your M1A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to give a shout out to Tony Ben... Not only for his You tube channel but also his shop he just opened.
Years ago I started watching his channel. Part by part I ordered everything for a M1A. Started with a LRB M21 receiver. Lothar Walther barrel (Krieger was out of stock)... War Fighter gas system. NM trigger... etc.... I wanted the m21 stock from Springfield, but they were discontinued before I could order one. Then I wanted a J Allen.... no where to be found. I settled on a archangel stock.. put it in the mill, opened it up to fit the rear lug of the LRB arms.. Bedded it with devcon.... and it just wouldn't shoot accurately (3-4 inch groups no matter what I fed it).
I end up getting frustrated and let it sit a round for about a month and then I saw he opened up his shop. I called and picked his brain... I decided to order a McMillan and when it came in I would send it to him... A deployment later and the stock is at the house, I box it up and send it to him.
I asked him to bed the rifle and look it over to make sure I didn't mess anything up. After all this was the first chamber I have ever cut with a pul through. Sometime later he gets to it, step by step he's telling me what he finds, gets the bedding done. Test fires it and it shot well under 1 Inch at 100 yards .... He boxed it up and sent it home to me.
Yesterday I took it to the range to do load development on it... Everything was under 1 inch at 100 yards. The best group with 175 grain SMK was just over 0.6 inches at 100...
I cannot give enough compliments to him. A true professional and craftsman. I know I can be a bit particular, and some times tough to deal with. I am extremely inquisitive. He was beyond patient and professional.
10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting bolt gun accuracy out of a M1A.
(And yes I know I can go one step lower on rings, they are on the way)

Firearms SOLD PENDING FUNDS - Custom Remington 673 Long Range Black Powder Rifle .45 Caliber - $325

You said black powder in your listing, but one of the pictures shows some smokeless powder. Is it set up for smokeless?

Does this use Large Rifle Primer modules like Hankins or Arrow?
For some reason, I never saw the replies to this post. It's smokeless, but I've never owned either besides this one. I traded for this and never got around to even shooting it once.

Are the FN SPR enthusiasts extinct?

Well, if I was in your shoes, I would certainly not modify it, if it’s not what you desire now? I would sell it…. (I think you would find it will bring really good money being original, except for the paint,), and then build a rifle to meet your current desires (there are FN SPR actions out there for sale), you’d be money ahead, just one perspective, respectfully…..
