About 1970 my parents bought brand new Sears Kenmore washer and dryer set. Use to be an appliance repairman man in our town, try finding one of those today. Anyway, the dryer made it over 30 years. The washer over 35 years, cause of death ? The tub rusted out. My mom bitched and whined about having to replace them. I asked her if she remembers when exactly she bought them. She knew. I laughed and told her things don't ;ask forever and that her and dad got their money's worth out of those 2 appliances. Their Kenmore refrigerator? Over 25 years..
Appliances made/built back then were simple and didn't have lots of unnecessary electronics on them that would go bad.
