FUBAR times 6!

Good grief. What a shit show. That shop should be named to warn others about the sub standard work. How the hell did the one rifle shoot great? Was that one looked over at all?
The other one is shooting great from what I was told.

Each one we work on I give them an update as to what we all found and or fixed. Their Captain is also asking for the information.

I won’t name the shop as this wasn’t the point of the thread also if there is anything to happen for any money to be paid back etc… it’s between the two parties and not us.

We maintain another Sheriff’s Dept rifles and have for probably a good 10 years. Anytime they have questions or need help they stop in. What’s also nice about this other dept. is that 2 out of the 4 guys on the teams… also shoot PRS matches. So way more up to speed on cleaning, loading ammo etc… but dept guns and ammo have to be box ammo. No handloads for the dept. guns.

Buying a plane after retirement

Ive never flown a 152 under max gross... me and my instructor + full fuel(the fuel gauge in a 152 is a suggestion, only way to know if you have gas is top it off) we were ALWAYS overweight... never killed ourselves... We did weight and balance once, looked at each other, and promptly burned the worksheet...

But the wing on a Mooney is not nearly as forgiving as a high wing cessna wing.
You’d be appalled at the shit we used to in the bush. I started in the last days of the old school bush ops, I’m convinced those old timers were batshit crazy, but they taught me a bunch of stuff and how to stay alive. One of which, “Airplanes fly really well over weight. They don’t fly well without fuel.”

I used an 044 professionally as a much younger man and was always pleased with the performance. Left that career long ago. Just bought a MS400CM for farm work and rolled my eyes at computer this and magnesium that. Gotta say, that saw has more power with half the weight as my old trusted companion.
I think thyre not as tough as they were but they have the performance tweaked.

6.5 PRC Pressure signs

Hi,
I’m new to reloading for rifle calibers. I’m using White River Large Rifle Magnum primers, virgin Norma brass, 56 grains of N560, and 147 gr ELD-M bullets. The bolt lift feels heavier than with factory loads. The rifle has about 100 rounds through it. Are the extractor marks on the cases a cause for concern? Average velocity is 2901 fps.

Rifle:
Howa 24"
Long action
Suppressed
You're charge weight of 56 grs of N560 fills Norma cases just fine and normally shouldn't produce a pressure issue, though that charge is just a bit on the warm side. But those ejector marks are a sure sign of over pressure that needs to be addressed. I think you have a combination of things, the main one being the use of magnum primers. With this size of cartridge, there's really no issue where you've need to use magnum primers with a powder that as fast burning as N560. . . unless you're shooting in very very cold conditions that might effect ignition. I've never used magnum primers in my 6.5 PRC and great performance out of standard LRP's.

If these were shot in pretty warm/hot summer temperatures, it would contribute some to increasing pressure since your load is a somewhat warm charge to start with. Then being suppressed can add to that too.

Nice saw. My all time favorite was the 038 Farm Boss. They gave them to the limbers but I bought one for myself, plenty for home use, tough as nails. Small enough to be easy on you but powerful enough to cut a good sized tree.

The toughest I ever ran was a couple old Homelights. That was back when Homelite and McCulloch were the only options, Stihl was just getting known and Husky hadnt come over yet. This redneck kid was cutting a 3' Red Oak with a big old Homelite and when it fell it twisted and caught the bar, jerked the saw out of his hands, and butt stomped the saw hard. Bent the bar and the handle badly. He went to the truck, got a crow bar, straightened the handle, put a new bar on it, pulled the cord once and she cranked right up. A Stihl or Husky would have gone to the dump.
Ah! The good old Homeheavies! I can still feel phantom vibrations in my hands along with the carpal tunnel from cutting miles of fire-line with one.

I still have my Sthil O44 and it runs strong. It Defenitely out performs my dad’s little homeowner grade saw.

As a point of order….

I had a MS241C with a decompression valve 😘

What's the best weed killer?

Seriously, you need an excavator or bobcat to rip the entire root ball out. There is a plastic barrier that landscapers sell specifically for bamboo that you bury that goes down 3 feet or so and sticks about 4 inches above the ground. The root rhizome can't get past that.

You need to get a mini x and dig out ALL the roots, then trench along the property line and put the barrier in. No amount of weed killer will fix your problem otherwise.
Well at least I do own a mini x. This infestation is in deep forest and jungle. This will probably take the rest of my life, I'm going on 65 now...
