Maggie’s The Welding and Metalworking Thread

I'm in Nogal, just outside Ruidoso.
Familiar with the area and used to hunt on the Pfingsten ranch years ago. Live in Anthony and have a place in the Upper Canyon which unfortunately was extensively damaged in the floods this year. Hobby shop and fabricate sliders for 4Runners for friends and others who see mine and want a pair. Really nice work in your post.

Maggie’s Credentialed but Illiterate

Did you mean: how to lead a literate population

AI Overview

Leading a literate and critically-thinking populace requires a transparent, collaborative, and evidence-based approach to governance and communication. Unlike a population that can be managed through simple, top-down directives, a literate citizenry demands reasoned arguments, is skeptical of easy answers, and expects to be an active participant in decision-making.

Funny, the AI gets it.

Firearms LVAW MCX Canebrake

This add reeks.

- New user with zero feedback ("KAC123"? How creative..)
- Atrocious literacy
- The firearm is clearly pictured/represented as an SBR without mention of it in the ad
- User is (allegedly) a Florida man....need I say more?

Potential buyers - do your due diligence. This has red flags all over.
Go look me up on tacswap my guy bam762 my reviews speak for they self I can also FaceTime anyone to show them I have the gun in my possession with a timestamp also gun is not registered as a SBR just have it like that to show was included in

A "Publi walk" now?

Some days you just want to show your support for the second amendment, I open carry those days.

Some days it's just a FU liberals day, I open carry then.

Some places you go to look at you funny if not open carrying, like you were a libtard from the big city or some kind of deviant, criminal maybe.

The welcoming feeling when you walk into a small town cafe and a batch of the adults are armed openly and half the rest are concealed let's me know I am exactly where I belong.

God Bless the USA

A "Publi walk" now?

Open carry is legal here in NC. However, we also have a dumbass statute known as Going Armed to the Terror of the People. And with all the foreigners that have moved in here, open carry is essentially useless these days for that reason. About the only time I'll open carry is when in the woods. Everywhere else, it's concealed.

Gas Gun Break In

That's what happened to my first one, a burr that was just being pushed down the barrel and wouldn't go away. Even with some JB bore paste and quite a bit of rounds. The second was a litle burr and eventually wore down but the erosion didn't seem to subside. This new barrel is much less expensive and looks terrible on a borescope, but shoots really good. My Krieger with 6k rounds on it shows hardly any erosion and shoots great.

Vudoo bolt disassembly videos gone

I very seldom disassemble my gen-1 V22 bolt for cleaning - over the years, my experience has been that it's just not necessary.

But that doesn't mean it never gets cleaned, and it's time to do so. And it's been so long that I want a refresher on disassembly steps.

So... guess what? The new and o-so-trustworthy "Vudoo" has marked its videos private. What a bunch of absolute dickwads. I haven't found any other videos or descriptive posts.

Perhaps @RAVAGE88 or @David Lott could create a quick video at their convenience (and yes, I know the different generations come apart differently)?

If anyone else has a link to the disassembly steps, it would be appreciated. I don't have a bolt disassembly tool; previously I have just clamped the cocking piece in a bench vice, pulled on the bolt handle, and inserted a wire to hold everything in place as needed. Not ideal I know, but it worked... and I can muddle through again. But maybe other original-Vudoo folks could use a refresher course.

Thanks all.
I can do that later this afternoon

A "Publi walk" now?

Two different things. "Constitutional Carry" (actually "Permitess Carry" in FL) only allows one to carry without the need for a License/Permit, as long as you are, otherwise, eligible to carry per State Law. One needs only a valid DL or state ID. But that has nothing to do with OC (how one carries) and FL law still made that illegal.

Now, apparently, some courts have struck down FL's law banning OC. We'll see how long that holds before being challenged again. And, Publix is responding to the strikedown. We'll see how it goes, but I think I'll stay "concealed" and maintain my CWFL. It does things for me that Permitless carry can't. 1) Reciprocity in other states; 2) Immediate FFL delivery instead of waiting 3 days; 3) Carry within 1000 ft. of a School Zone.

Well, I have no qualms admitting at a gun forum that I am pretty anti-OC. Not from a legal sense because I don't believe in any form of gun control or bannings. I just feel if you OC, you're putting yourself and the others around you in immediate danger if an attack is gonna happen. It's pretty much a sign above you that reads "kill me first" to a mass shooter. CC is the way to go because you have the element of surprise on your side.

22 creedmoor

Looking for some load development advice from some of the more experienced 22CM loaders.

I've got a new 22CM getting spun up by my gunsmith.
- 20" 1-7 HCA Carbon Barrel
- Defiance Classic action
- Bix n' Andy TacSport

I was hoping to shoot something heavier either 80s, 85.5s or 90s. Not looking for screaming fast loads, just accuracy. Planning on running Alpha SRP brass with CCI 450s.

What powders and charges would ya'll recommend starting out with?

Many thanks!
There is tons of data available. You've gotta pick a bullet before you can choose a starting load.
There's a fairly wide range of powders that will work well so personally I'd use something you already have

Is Russia done pretending?

as i said in the last deleted thread on this topic, putin will continue unless the "cost" of continuing is untenable.
he is committed to "liberating" the remaining portions of the mostly russian speaking regions that wanted autonomy from ukraine.
i see no indication that zelensky is willing to concede any territory, so i don't see peace on the horizon.
unfortunately, zelensky doesn't seem to have to worry about the "cost", since somebody else is footing the bill.

/and i still think it is the natural resources that they are really fighting over.

The one "cost" that Zelensky has to worry about is manpower, as he is quickly running out of that resource and no other country is currently willing to fill that gap (and rightfully so).

I don't see how this war is sustainable. Ukraine can't win a war of attrition against Russia. Further involvement by the west has the ultimate consequence of a potential world war breaking out.

What I do fear is that the leaders of Ukraine, understanding the situation they are in, will do something to deliberately spark a hot war between NATO and Russia. An unpopular fact amongst the Ukraine-stans is that the ultra-nationalists hold a lot of power in Ukraine, and make up at least 10% of the current AFU. This group has been threatening Zelensky with death for years over any talks of peace with Russia.

The West doesn't want peace, and they will creep right up to the edge of Russia's "red lines" to keep this proxy war going. Zelensky and those around him don't want peace, as that stops the gravy train, their power, and ultimately potentially their own lives. Russia wants an end to NATO expansionism on their borders, and will be unwilling to give back any occupied territory to Ukraine.

I think the only way this ends is with the US pushing for concessions to be made with Russia to end this war, but the longer this goes on the less likely that scenario seems to be.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Colt cobra

I’m thinking of getting a revolver for my wife’s concealed carry. Not much of a wheel gun man myself, what do you all think of the colt cobra? Looking for something smaller and light that won’t beat the shit out of her as she will definitely train and put plenty of rounds down range before I allow her to carry it. DA/SA is probably best for her. Open to other suggestions
