I'm not exactly sure.

Wife and kiddo handle the paint stuff as I am routinely reminded that I have no style or taste.

That's the way it is in my house with decorating. Okay, so maybe I kinda, sorta, hung a euro mount of one of last year's bucks over a family photo... but I thought it was still cool.

Nice work Sir!

Screaming Deals on Armalite Barrels

Faxon dont know how to finish the barrels before they coat them. They are all thrown in a bin, dinged, dented, rough machining, razor edges, .... This Armalite is light years better than a Faxon. I got 2 of these Armalites, Faxon had sent me 3 different barrels and they were all junk and sent back... never again dealing with that place.
I've never seen a coated Faxon barrel, all of mine were nitrided, but they all looked pretty good. Shot terrible, but looked good..

First time home in 7 months. Project Asshole Douchebag (PAD) is gonna be fun.

2001 Suburban 4x4 with 6" Racecar Dynamics (RCD) Lift. 160k miles on it $1900.

Off to the transmission shop because it's missing a couple gears 🤣🤣🤣 4L60e gonna do 4L60 things. I was gonna have them rebuild it to higher specs anyway to handle future engine mods. LM7 is easy to make go more horsepower-er.
Dude you got that kick ass OEM cassette player in that thing?😀

Just bustin your balls - my PAD has an 8 track and no electronics. Pure joy to work on.

New CHAD clone from Preece.

Try this. People in the community have long memories. You, being a prime example.

The launch of the Chad was a blunder, that really turned a lot of people off. Yes, BJ had a lot going on with injuries and getting moved out of the country, etc. but it doesn't change the fact that a lot of guys didn't get what they paid a lot of money for for a long time.

The Morgun King Edition brake was also a mess, and there are a number of guys who were friends with Morgun who felt like BJ just dragged his name through the mud, and it really pissed some people off.

Further, BJ's social accounts are kind of cringey, and it turns some people off

Baffle strikes. I know three guys who've had them. "Strike Every Baffle Without Warning".

A lot of people like Garrett. A lot of people don't like BJ. Go figure.

BJ has operated forever with weird payments. In 2022 when asking about a TMB, the payment was super vague, and seriously - who's operating a business with payments via Zelle? Just get stripe and a US bank account and pay taxes maybe? Garrett's always been a lot easier to buy from. Yes, BJ finally got a site up and a payment gateway but man, it felt shady for a long time.

What's more is that this isn't even the same design. It's just welded ports together. The Baffle stack is completely different. Comparing it to buying a fake Louis Vuitton bag? More like choosing to buy a Coach bag because screw having a bag covered in "LV", and you like the design of something else.

To top it off, Garrett actually manufactures his own stuff. BJ has other machine shops make his stuff in the USA and then charges his own profits on top of it. His TMB costs to manufacture were upwards of $200, and he was always having issues finding machine shops to do it, so his production has been unstable at best. Garrett does the stuff in house, on his own equipment. Sheesh, BJ could have bought a CNC machine and run a business on it, but resorted to having other people do the work and charging a fortune, even for the TMB.

Maybe be a little less confused at other people making their own decisions for themselves based on what they want, who they want to support, and what kind of money they're willing to spend.
Yes we have long memories and Garrett will never see a dollar from me. And yeah offering a poor version of a quality (now) product and basically stealing lessons learned. And they are doing a half assed job of copying and selling it at the nearly the price of the quality item.

New CHAD clone from Preece.

Clearly Preece needs to show us on the doll where the Australian touched him. It's obviously an attack on BJ and his company, especially considering the relationship and history. You can tell from the baffle geometry is not an exact rip off and most likely is not as effective as the Chad. But the construction is designed to mimic it at a cheaper price point. There is nothing else on the market that looked like the Chad.

If it was anyone else it probably wouldn't be as big of a deal. I think anyone buying the preece brake is a moron personally. You can get the real thing for like 90 bucks more. If price is an issue then there are half a dozen high performing brakes under $200. It's like buying a fake Louis Vuitton bag for $1800. For $2400 you can have the real thing. Retarded.

AB Quantum Major Update 3.3 + Calypso AB Mini

I asked Vectronix and was told the support of ABQ is coming in Q3.
My assumption is that once Vector X supports ABQ, I don’t need to pair it with Calypso. Both devices will feed data to ABQ and ABQ will be the solver.
You will need to pick one or the other. If you pair the Calypso to the Vector X it will not feed wind to ABQ through the Vectors.

Do I need match ammo at 100 yards? Or is it a waste of money?

Bulk 55/62gr ammo is in no way "precision." You can develop precision technique about as well by dry firing as shooting 193/262 rounds.

In my 16" Barnes Precision AR, 69 grain SMKs loaded to ~2650fps group to about an inch at 100 while 55gr FMJBT - factory and handload - do well to stay within two inches at 100 and are often closer to three.

In any of my centerfire bolt rifles, a one-inch group at 100 is an indicator of "this ain't right."

I don't load 69/77gr SMKs for the bolt guns anymore, preferring higher-BC bullets - but the SMKs easily stayed at or under 1/2" at 100 when I was just getting started. Bulk ammo sprayed 2-4" patterns out of the same rifles.

For me personally, the AR platform is at best too fussy for precision... no matter how much effort and $$ one puts into a perfect match of barrel, bolt, BCG, buffer, etc., the trigger still has a dog-slow lock time compared to bolt guns no matter who makes it. Yes, the platform can be coaxed into decent accuracy and that can be fun... but...

... consistent accuracy ain't gonna happen with 55/62gr bulk ammo. Period.

Screaming Deals on Armalite Barrels

I agreed and its not just reddit, they are not viewed with a high regard here either. I've been saying this close for two plus decades now. Armalites marketing sucks and sucks huge, it's almost like nonexistent . You put that with the new owners way of doing things and I'd be highly surprised if they are still around in 10 years.

It's a shame because they make a really solid product.
A good social media campaign could turn it around but it would cost them.

I have an A and a B series gun and have never had an issue with either.

Precision Rifle Gear New Athlon Rangecraft Chronograph-Garmin Xero Killer?

But not everyone is as rich as you and able to pay $1000 for some "made by the USA company" RDS that uses 10 year old technology.
You confuse new gimmicks with better and more useful.

That's OK.

1000 bucks for an American-made RDS, you say? Hard to take you seriously when you don't even know what these things actually cost.

And GBPSE.
