Thou shall not take the king's fish(bluefin)

Wait a second, how the Fuck does NOAA have authority here? "The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has shut down bluefin tuna fishing at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, North Carolina."

Can they really create and enforce law?

I actually don't know their authority, but from what little knowledge of them I have I didn't think they were law enforcement and they aren't elected legislators.

It sounds like somebody needs to sue the SHIT out of them and fight this so the Supreme Court can tell them that they aren't a fucking law making or enforcing entity and they can pound sand with this shit.

And I don't give a shit about Tuna fishing, I just don't understand how NOAA roles in and plays GOD here, but maybe they do have legal authority...? I don't ocean fish

New CHAD clone from Preece.

It allows you to create unique features on individual section that are impossible to do from a solid block of material. There are two ways to achieve this either machine and weld or do additive manufacturing (3D print).
Makes sense. I imagine then that the future of brakes is in additive manufacturing, like with cans. Pretty cool stuff.

2A ALERT for COLORADO: CO AWB at Gov's desk. THIRTEEN new antigun bills to be watched. Update on post 106 pg 3..

"Hunters with access to private land in elk country use a quota system instead of drawn permits. Any resident may purchase a Private Lake Elk Permit (labeled PLE in the AGFC licensing system) for $5 in addition to a valid resident Sportsman Hunting License.. Nonresidents must purchase a Nonresident Elk Permit (NRE) for $300 in addition to a valid Nonresident Annual Hunting License."

What I was thinking of doing is measuring up from the block deck today, to a taught fishing line pulled across the engine compartment. Then start adding spec measurements for the manifold and carb off their websites to get close, but that would only get me close...not 1/4" close though.
Your trick with the foil is probably the way to go once the engine is in.
I think most hoods have more convex shape than we realize.
Every time I think a straight edge across the fenders will get me in the ballpark I'm dead wrong.

Buffer trouble.

Excellent point. Re: the 223 barrel I told OP upstream to just call the barrel manufacturer and ask them what buffer weight/spring they recommend for his particular barrel based on all their testing, gas port size, dwell time, etc..

If they dont have an answer bc they didn’t do any testing that’s probably a bad sign.
I think you'd be surprised how many barrel manufacturers just follow the known guidelines and don't really know how to optimize this stuff.

Buffer trouble.

First of all, if your lgs suggested a heavier buffer to fix a short stroking issue, I'd stop asking them for advise.
Haven't read the whole thread, but that stuck out pretty quick.
As long as we're talking about bad advice pet peeves, when someone is having undergassed problems and the peanut gallery collectively suggests an AGB, that winds me up pretty good. AGB's don't add gas beyond the maximum you're already getting with a standard GB. Come on people, use your brains.
And maybe the nuances of subsonic gun tuning are beyond me, but for supersonic stuff, if your gun isn't running at all, a small change in buffer weight won't fix it. And if it does suddenly work, it's gonna be super borderline. But the go-to gunshop counter advice is always to go from an H2 to an H3 or whatever.
Alright, I'm done ranting.

Ammunition recommendations for 300 Win Mag

I've been out of the long range game for a good while, my current rifle is a 458 lott, so, opposite, short-range stopper.

But places like Copper Creek Ammo have heavy for caliber ammo, I don't know their reputation anymore but when I ordered from them about 10 or so years ago, everything was great.

I use ammo companies like them these days because I shoot a 500 S&W and I don't reload, so I use custom ammo makers to get more of what I want in a round. Haven't had any issues though the current companies I use won't help you as they don't load for long range rifle.

So you may look at Copper Creek and even check and see if there are others similar to them, perhaps you'll get some more recommendations here.
