In my experience, the 75 and 80 ELD-M want to be close to the lands.
The only complaint that I have heard with N540 is that is burns hotter and can erode a barrel quicker. In a 223, I don't see that being an issue, and have had good succes with it.
Berger is always a more consistent choice over Hornady.
