The best money spent will be in your boots, socks and sleeping bags...if your feet get cold and wet, you are fucked...be able to dress in layers is huge advantage.
Good glass saves you miles of walking, being able to identify a good animal saves you for walking miles and miles. I use 10x40 Swarovski binos. Not too heavy, I use a bino harness, keep a elk diaphragm in there to stop a elk to look at helps, also store cough drops too, trust me, you'll need them coming from that low of elevation... I always carry hard candy for people too, keeps the throat from getting that dry cough...
I guided for alot of years here in NM. I live at 6500, and hunt avg elevation of 8500. Reach out to a outfitters close to the area and ask them for gear recommendations also.
My sleeping bag is good to -20, don't skimp cash on cheap gear.
Jetboil is an awesome piece of gear too, have a way to make fire, gotta stay warm, and mother nature in WY is a fickle bitch...it starts snowing early and often...Im up here in WY as I type this visiting family.
