We elect a party, not a person. The party nominates a leader. Even if we don't like the leader, the whole "vote blue no matter who" mantra.
Except the election which just happened. The liberal party was led by peter dutton, an ex-cop, and thr party suffered their worst loss in YEARS, to the point that they had formed a "coalition" with another party, the nationals, to retain balance of power.
Well the nationals have broken away and liberals are dead in the water. I think next election the nationals will be bigger than the liberal party.
The county didn't vote for who they wanted, they voted to stop dutton. Quite a few independents got in also.
