Pistol Reloading Issue I cant figure out

So I had a bunch of 9mm loaded not too long ago. Just range ammo using some 115gr XTP that I got free from Hornaday on their free bullet promo.
Loaded up a bunch and never did anything any different than I ever have.
Had bought a new carry gun in 9mm so wanted to get to the range and shoot it.
Get there and the first mag I made about 7 rounds and the gun locks up, and I mean locks up solid.
Finally got it free and notice the round in the chamber the bullet had pushed back in the case...Kind of weird, never had it happen before.
So loaded up and shot again. Made it about 5 or so rounds and it did the same thing.
Got my other 9mm out and it happened again.
So stopped shooting and went home.
Got to looking and there were a bunch of rounds in the 100 count box that would just push back in the case.
So checked all I had done and out of about 500 rounds, about half would push back.
So checked my dies and reset them and loaded a few dummy rounds and did a push test and again the bullet would push back into the case.
Had the taper set just like the instructions said. Nothing worked right.
Probably reset the dies 5-6 different times, took them apart and cleaned them. Nothing worked.
I cant figure it out at all. I don't know if its a die issue or what.
I had some loaded from a few years ago still that were done with a RCBS die and they are all fine.

The only difference in the two is the ones I had issues with were the Hornady bullet and loaded with Hornady dies. And the others were just round nose bullets loaded with RCBS dies.

Contacted Hornady and they said I could send the dies, bullets, brass in and they would check them. But I don't understand what might be the issue.

Not new to reloading pistols as I load for 45acp, 40S&W and 357 also and have zero problems with them.

Anyone by chance have any ideas?

Lee Precision Dies for large-cartridge rifles

Lee Precision Dies for large-cartridge rifles

For those looking for dies for large-cartridge rifles, at very affordable prices, consider Lee Precision. [Their dies are made inhouse, in the US (WI).]

.338 LM (7/8-14 thread) - https://leeprecision.com/search?q=.338+lapua+dies - $47 (actually $46.98) for a SET (sizer, seater, and shell holder)

.416 Barrett (1 ¼-14 thread) - https://leeprecision.com/search?q=416+barrett and .50 BMG (1 ¼-14 thread) - https://leeprecision.com/50-bmg-dies - $140 for a SETs (sizer and seater w/o shell holder - the shell holder is $20, https://leeprecision.com/50-bmg-shell-holder)

While they do not offer dies for .375 CT or .408 CT, they do offer custom dies…which could be to CT specs – see further down. [Note that there is a requirement that they have a shell holder – in the CT case, that’s their #17 for the .505 Gibbs (“parent” of the CT).]

They also offer a 1 ½-12 to 1 ¼-14 adapter bushing for use with a press that has a 1 ½-12 top thread (Lee’s large cartridge dies are 1 ¼-14) https://leeprecision.com/1-1-2-12-to-1-1-4-12-die-adapter-bushing - $12.

And, for those that want micrometer-adjustable bullet seating, they now offer a “micrometer adjuster screw” for $20 – yes, twenty USD! Versions for all their dies, same price.

They also offer custom dies at the SAME prices as their non-custom dies – https://leeprecision.com/custom-services-custom-rifle-and-handgun-reloading-die-sets ...BUT there is a set-up fee of $250-$350 and lead time of 12-16 weeks (https://leeprecision.com/search?q=custom+die+set-up+fee). You provide a few dimensions, 5 fired casing, and 3 desired bullets. Chicken or the egg for CT, and for XC? No. Peterson has the “base” (un-fire-formed) brass. Seating a bullet w/o a seater die would seem to be the issue…so you don’t seat a BULLET. You use a wad-of-tissue-paper plug, enough powder to get the case properly formed, and a Cream-o-Wheat filler between the powder and the tight-fitting plug (tap down the CoW until its up in the neck before adding the wad – needs to be compressed). It works well. I’ve done it to save the cost of expensive large caliber bullets. Do it 3x for each case to guarantee exact fit to YOUR chamber. [Envision a range day with primed brass, a de-priming rod, small hammer, a hand priming tool, primers (for the 2nd and 3rd round of forming), a funnel, a quantity of tissue paper, individual pre-weighted bags of powder, individual “pre-weighted” bags of CoW, and a quantity of extra CoW for just in case. CAUTION – make sure the plug is in really well. Last thing you want to do is dump a load of powder and CoW into your action. Consider elevating your rifle as you load and fire rounds – one after another, single-shot style, NO mag feed. AND be very careful where the muzzle is pointed – what comes out the muzzle will still be seriously dangerous.

Lastly, they also have a very reasonably priced single-station press - https://leeprecision.com/classic-cast for $260 – or, that press, their .50 BMG die set, ++ for $425… if you are doing .50 BMG (their only with-dies option).

NOTE: Going forward, they recommend that you use their sizing lube, $6/tube. Worth it.

NO, I’m not a Lee shill. Just thinking that some would-be large-cartridge reloaders would find that Lee has viable solutions for intro-to reloading thru long-term reloading.

05012025 - For whatever reason, the Lee site no longer hosts the 2025 version of their catalog for online viewing. Use this link instead https://www.henrykrank.com/media/pdfs/Leepdfs/cata/Lee-Reloading-Catalogue-2025.pdf

Adam Schiff Pays Homage to Dianne Feinstein, Introduces ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban of 2025

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) paid homage to the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and introduced “the ‘assault weapons’ ban of 2025” Wednesday morning.

In an X post, Schiff explained that his legislation would “ban the sale, manufacture, import, and transfer of military-style ‘assault weapons.'”

He claimed there have been “486 mass shootings involving ‘assault weapons'” since 2006, but did not provide any sources to substantiate the figures. He did reference Feinstein’s introduction of the first “assault weapons” ban over three decades ago, then claimed her ban “had a dramatic impact on mass shootings” during the ten years in which it was in place.

SOLD Sold

Impact 737 prefit in 6 Creedmoor spun up by area 419, 7.5 twist, 5/8-24 threaded, Bartlein blank, heavy Palma per previous owner, cerakoted, original owner had it cut to 16”. Per previous owner 125 rounds on it. He was able to get to 3500 fps with lighter projectiles. I never shot it so I don’t know any data on it. There are light surface marks on the cerakote all over, worst is pictured but its super light surface and not deep into metal.

Would make an awesome shorty setup or truck gun for coyotes.

Gunsmithing 223 Ojive Seating Dent

Im having an issue while seating 223 for my PRS gun. Im using redding competition seating die. I originally had the standard seating stem and it was making a big ojive dent. Then tried the VLD long stem and it's still giving a dent but not as bad. It's still avaliable big enough dent to change flight. I don't think redding makes a longer stem for this issue and there's no contact number to call. Any solutions?

Rearden muzzle brake, cerakoted black by LRI
