Conditions that can change component consistency

Is there any storage, environmental, or similar conditions you guys have observed or tested and discovered that can cause a change in reloading components or accelerate/decelerate a change?

Just wondering about things like storing primers in sealed bags with oxygen absorbers versus just in their factory boxes, powder being left in a hopper (does it matter if your reloading room is dark?), component age (some people say they use the same jug of powder for years), humidity in reloading room, or cold/warm cycles in storage.

Sometimes I will get a velocity change with the same components and I can not identify the cause. I actually had some ammo chrono faster on a cold day and it made me think my chrono was off.

Interested in thoughts, opinions, personal or professional tests.

Extraordinarily rare GL/SSC clone build is finally complete!

I just acquired the final piece for my GL/SSC build, an actual Colt M203 40mm grenade launcher! This is a factory original Colt M203 40mm, not a converted 37mm. The Daniel Defense GL/SSC handguard is also original, it's not a cut down M4A1 rail. There's a ridiculous number of rare parts being used on this build, such as the Eotech GL40 sight, unique tanodized KAC BUIS set, and the engraved patent pending PRI Gasbuster charging handle. I love this build and I'm happy to have finally finished it, for now. In the future I might add a transferable lower, but for now this is the configuration that it's staying in. It's a heavy rifle, but it's worth it to have something different than every other clone out there:

M203 and lower receiver markings, the lower was made by Intl.Mil.Co. before they got the cease and desist for using the H&R rollmark:

Original Daniel Defense GL/SSC handguard with a NavSea marked rotational WMX200 and LA5:
Here's the rifle without the M203:

Right now I have a CAG used Vortex scope mounted in a Geissele 2099 aluminum/lithium scope mount, but I'm thinking about switching over to the Eotech/Wilcox set that you can see in the photo below. Should I keep the LPVO or switch over to the red dot for this GL/SSC build?

Does anyone else here have a GL/SSC clone build? If so, please post it here in this GL/SSC thread!

Here's the parts list for my GL/SSC rifle. If you guys know your parts very well, you'll know how ridiculously rare some of these parts actually are:

● Colt BCG
● PRI Gasbuster machine engraved patent pending charging handle
● Intl.Mil.Co factory SBR H&R marked lower receiver

After getting tired of setting my bipod down to shoot a stage and then trying to remember where the heck I left it, I finally designed a simple yet effective way to stow your bipod, rail mounted bag or anything with a Arca mount directly to your tripod. 3D printed right here in the USA and ready to ship out for $20.00 each to your door, including the velcro strap. Please send a PM if you would like to purchase and try not to post in this thread.

Frankford Arsenal F1

I havent seen much on these presses. The idea looks nice and it looks pretty beefy. I am in the market for a new single stage press but am concerned about sizing on it. Pretty much all of the video reviews seem to only decap on it and are either neck sizing or not showing FL sizing.
I tend to be pretty relaxed with reloading; I am sizing and decapping together looking for practical accuracy; generally not super anal about loading as some are.

Otherwise I was looking at a Lyman turret or a redding big boss; the FA is obviously about 100$ cheaper which would be nice but I dont want to have it 6mo and then have to service it.

Anyone have any input other that the fact that its Chinese made? I have a lot of other FA equipment and its generally all fine

Been here many times before gather dope to improve my shooting and decided to take the plunge and join the community. I have lived in Austin Texas and Alberta Canada for a couple decades. I now reside full-time in Alberta, close to the mountains, my true passion as a lone wolf. It has been a real shift from the gun freedom of Texas to the Canadian gun environment.

That said I love shooting pretty much anything that fires a projectile. As a lover of long distance shooting I will be focusing on PRS, Rimfire Comps and range shooting. Currently building a MPA Comp rifle with Insite Arms out of Lloydminster. Great guys and they have been very helpful so far. Looking to cross paths with others in the southern Alberta area and will be shooting at the Rocky Rod Range in Rocky Mountain House. Will be shooting in the PRS foothills regionals in Regina and Medicine Hat to start with.

Exactly how important is case trimming?

Got a rifle shooting in the ones now and as I get further into the round count of the brass I start to wonder when it's going to be trim time.
It's a 6.5 creed in Alpha brass that's not pushed hard. SAAMI chamber. I flame anneal every couple of firings.
Question: Will never trimming begin to affect my groups in the future? Anyone here that shoots small groups not trimming?

ARIZONA TERRITORY, 1867

Following the brutal murder of their father, a hardworking prospector, by hired thugs from a vicious land baron seeking to reclaim the old man's estate so a proper industrial scale gold operation could be built, brothers Jesse and Jake Struthers set out to get revenge. The land that was being seized was located on Lipan Apache territory, who were friendly to the Anglo and Texan settlers who had relocated there after the Civil War, so the brothers along with a ragtag posse of hard riding and hard fighting roughnecks appealed to the tribe for their alliance in the coming fight. Jesse Struthers was a rugged outdoorsman, forged in pines, desert, and prairie since boyhood and who could outmatch even the toughest desperados with gun, knife, or axe. Unbeknownst to him however, the company thugs realized that Jesse had a weakness that they could exploit: his beloved Lipan Apache fiancee Ila, someone who he would readily sacrifice his own life for unconditionally. If they could capture her, they would have a sack of bargaining chips that might finally break the young hardhead's will of steel. For Jesse Struthers, the fight had become more than just a bitter land dispute...

6 GT Load Suggestions & Suppressor Pressure Signs!?

Looking for some advice/thoughts on this load. Broke in a new barrel this weekend. Groups were great, SD not so much. Most of the details below. I included photos of the composite group and the 8 shot group. Not sure what happened with the literal flier, might have been me, might not have.

I'm not sure if I should just chalk this up to barrel break/cold weather or not. Not going to lie, I was expecting a lower SD with how well it was grouping. The 5x5 groups were the 32nd to 56th shots through the new bore. I shot another 17 shots of a different load after the 5x5 group, then the 8 shot group, so shots 74-81.

Oh, and btw, I was getting pressure signs with the suppressor (OCL Polonium); heavy bolt lift and some ejector swipe. Here is the break-down of the suppressor groups. From my limited research, I guess this is a thing where some suppressors will cause pressure signs with an otherwise normal load. I have a Silencerco Omega to try out next time.

Shot a 5 shot group (great group - 0.3 MOA no pressure signs)
Shot a 5 shot group and had pressure signs, group was terrible, worst of the day
Cleaned chamber/barrel
Shot 5 shot group pressure sings went away, good group 0.5 MOA
Shot 2 more, pressure came back, sadly took the suppressor off and put it away
Shot 8 more shots no pressure signs with brake

Right now, I'm leaning to loading another 50 of the exact same load and retesting (with brake and Omega suppressor). I don't live close to the range and with the family I don't get many days at the range, so I try to bring a lot of ammo for thorough testing/practice, even if it means using more components than I need to.

.300 win mag 26" barrel hornady 208g

was talking to another reloader and he mentioned that some people add a few grains of fast powder at the bottom of their load to help ignition. It got me thinking about putting some fast powder at the top of the load to give the bullet some extra kick as it is traveling down the barrel. I have a 26" barrel so seems like a good idea, and if it does not blow up the gun on the first shot Ill let yall know next week. any experience out there with this idea? I cant be the first, any proportion advice? my test loads have 60g Imr 4895 and 12g of 3031 on top. (full case). if I still have fingers on monday I plan to use 4350 and 3031 unfortunately I do not have a chronometer yet,
any useful advice is welcome,
