Problem with one of my gun safes.

One of my gun safes is a little Sentry 16 gun with a dial combination. A while back I went to open it, dialed in the combo, and cranked the latch a partial turn when everything seized up. The latch lever won't open or close. The combo dial won't turn in either direction. There's a lot of guns inside I can't get to.

I know I could solve this issue with an angle grinder and a prybar, but I would rather not do that.

I've tried, very gently, using a rubber mallet around the door to jar whatever's jammed into letting loose. This didn't help.

I've watched various UTube videos, and from those I get the sense that gravity plays a role in how the combination/tumbler mechanism works. This makes me wonder if inverting the safe (Again, very gently. There one hell of a lot of investments inside.) might let me get things freed up.

Obviously, once I get it open all guns are getting removed until after I've had a Locksmith make sure the lock mechanisms properly fixed. Failing that, I'll get a new safe.

Has anyone else had this sort of thing happen? If so, how did you resolve it.
Thanks

.45 Raptor - Looking For Load Info

Hi guys and gals,

Over the next month I will be putting together my .45 Raptor bolt action hunting rifle. I have some reloading supplies on hand and some on the way presently. I am looking for any tips, recommendations, and cool load info that anyone might be willing to share.

Let's see those recipes!!

I very much appreciate any help that is given.

Anyone here reload for 45 Raptor?

Im splitting case heads and im about at my end as I cannot figure out why.
  • Headspace is set correctly with PTG go/no-go guages - im very confident this is not the issue
  • Measurements taken .5000" above rim
    • Sized brass: .4715"
    • Fired case: .4815"
    • PTG Gauge is .4760"
  • Variety of bullets: hornady 250gr FTX, Parker 275gr Black Max, 250gr CEB Maximus all jumped .007-.025" (ie. not jammed causing a pressure spike)
  • Powders used: Lil Gun, H110, VV N110
    • Only tested near the min charges (Min varies by book, but figure about 41gr of h110 for a 265gr bullet, 32gr of VV110)
  • Dies: Hornady 460 S&W
  • minimal taper crimp - just enough to remove the bell (Case mouth diameter = .4760 post crimp)
  • Primer: Fed 215M
  • Platform: Bolt gun
I spoke with several different gunsmiths, and the consensus was the chamber was oversized based on the cases not growing in length and the amount the diameter grew, so I sent the barrel back to the MFG and they said its within their spec. So Starline offered to take a look at the brass and they said brass was good, but it may be getting oversized and thought maybe trying a 45 Colt sizer would be better. Since its all sized and splitting with even a minimum charge, I cant really test that right now (not to mention H110 is and VV110 is still out).

Does anyone load for this cartridge and offer any advice?

Hornady / Stoney Point Seating Depth Tool

I am going to ask a question which I presume is probably impossible to answer online but heck here it goes anyway.

How did you become adept at using the Hornady / Stoney Point seating depth tool? I have been told by a few folks it's a matter of developing a feel for it - ok fair enough I accept that but how did you go about doing that?

I periodically break out the tool and try to figure out where the lands are in a barrel and if I do it 5 times I get 5 different measurements, if I do it 10 I get 10, 20 I get 20 so on and so on. At some point I stop due to frustration and irritation, and I go back to just loading book length or mag length until time passes and I think well I should try to do this again and see what the results are if I change the seating depth.

TIA

SOLD Carbon Fiber 260 Rem Barrel TL3 Big Horn

24 Inch Carbon Fiber (looks like a proof blank but I can not say for sure) Cut for Zermatt Big Horn TL3 chambered in 260 Remington... 1 in 8 Twist ......I bought online and wanted the action so I don't know a lot about this tube other than the action it was on looked virtually new with few to maybe no rounds fired. It is of coarse not a prefit from proof but I have no idea who did the work. I have shot this barrel about 50-60 rounds and it has performed great shooting 130 ELDM (under moa easily) and 105 Sierra Blitz Kings (Under Half MOA at 3050fps) I have Fired this barrel from a TL3 as well as a Origin with the Hunts lug and all is good to go on the Chamber and headspace Looks to be Sendero Contour and weighs 2lb 13oz .........I really dont need the barrel as I have a 260AI barrel for hunting so offering this up as a pretty good deal for a great shooting carbon barrel....sold

AXSR 300PRC Magazines

Hello All,

I'm getting ready to pick up an ASXR next week, and I've seen reports of the 300 Win Mag magazines not feeding well. I talked to the fine folks at MH, and they said they could adjust the mags if they didn't feed. Is there a high-quality and reliable alternative to AI mags? I need to pick up a couple, and I'd rather buy something that works without having to mail it back to be fixed.

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Night Vision Pulsar Trail Issue

I have a Pulsar Trail XQ50 that I currently use as my primary scope. I am the second owner and it is out of warranty. It has some striations or vertical lines that show in the scope and don’t go away until I nuc it. The scope is still usable, holds zero and can provide a nice picture. Though the lines can be annoying. They are easily fixed, but come back after a few minutes. I called pulsar about sending it in to possibly fix, but won’t know price or if it’s even fixable until they get the device in hand.

Should I send it in? I’m worried since the trail is no longer produced, that I am SOL. I’d hate to ship it to them on my dime, just for them to say it’s not fixable.

New from san antonio

Been lurking on the forum for many years, just never made any posts. So figured I'd go ahead and start!

Been shooting a my entire adult life (military) and have competed with pistol and carbine. I'm looking to give PRS a try, so I built a semi custom rifle based off a tikka t3x.
