Short 308win barrel twist rate for subs/why no fast twist 308 barrels?

Which twist for short barrel 308 running subs and supers (basically like a 300blk)

Been looking at getting a short 308 barrel for a little while with the hopes of running subsonics for plinking/fun/limited hunting, but still shoot supers.
Looking at posts on here and playing with the Berger stability calculator, it seems like a standard 1:10/11/12 twist barrel are capable of handling subsonics, the 1:10 being the best candidate but all able to do it if you choose the right projectile.

However, I can't help but wonder why 1:8 twist barrels for 308win aren't a thing, especially shorter barrels.
1:8 is more or less than standard twist of 300 Norma, so there is obviously no risk in a short barrel 308 over spinning bullets.
Running the numbers on a 110gr bullets @ 3000fps in a 1:8, the RPMs are 270,000 which is getting up there but still comfortably under the 300k magic number.

If I'm going to get a 16-1" barrel spun up and want the most versatile twist possible, what should I go for? Stick with a more standard 1:10, or go faster to a 8 or 9 twist?
I'm dream (probably a pipe dream) would be able to comfortably run subsonics, 125gr TMKs and 168-175gr SMK/TMKs.

What about FN .264 LICC?

Don't know how I missed this at SHOT Show 2023, but somebody posted about FN's new .264 LICC and after looking into it, it seems pretty cool.

The .264 LICC (Lightweight Intermediate Caliber Cartridge) is based on the .264 USA, which is a 6.5x48 cartridge developed by the AMU (Army Marksmanship Unit) with a case head of .441, like the 6.5 Grendel; it’s basically a stretched Grendel. A head diameter of .441, like the 6.5 Grendel, 6mmARC, and .264 USA, is the largest that can reliably double-stack within the dimensions of the AR15 magazine well. If you move up to .473 you can’t double-stack in the AR15; you need a redesigned magazine (especially if using polymer mags) and mag well.

FN's .264 LICC (6.5x43 with a 2.5” COAL) has a case head of .473, like the .308 Winchester family of cartridges, as well as the newer 6mm GT. The 6mm GT has a case length of 44mm (1.73"), and a 24" bbl velocity of 3075 fps with a 110gr bullet at 62,100 psi pressure, according to Hodgdon’s reloading data.

FN has not released specs on the .264 LICC, but a 6.5x43 with a 110gr in a 24" bbl should get 3100 fps (add 25 fps for the increased surface area “piston effect”), and a more optimum weighted 115gr should get 3050 fps. Pressures should be around 62k psi, much better than the 80k psi of the dead-end 6.8 NGSW.

Note: 62k psi is still gonna kick too much for the average troop, so a recoil-reducing mechanism like “constant recoil” is a must.

A 6.5mm 115gr hybrd OTM using existing Berger ogives can have a G1 BC of .610. Using the 25 fps per barrel inch rule of thumb starting with a 24” bbl at 3050 fps, a 20” bbl would get 2950, a 16” gets 2850, and a 12” gets 2750.

Ballistics could be pretty good in a compact package no bigger than an AR15, which the Ruger SFAR has proven possible. Cases are two-part and made of stainless steel and are 20% lighter than comparable brass. More compact cartridges like this help maximize the soldier’s basic load over the 6.8 NGSW. Gets 25 rounds in the same length as a 5.56 30-round mag.

YouTube video HERE.

Is FN on to something, or not?

Rifle Scopes NX8 4-32X50 vs LRP S3 4-25X50.

Looking for a compact option for my Sig Cross STX (6.5 Creed) . Its a pack gun (gunslinger 2) . Only looking at the XT-MIL and the ZF-MRi versions of these:

LRP S3 4-24X50.
NX8 4-32X50 F1

Are there any standout reasons to not get one over the other ?

( Looking at the newest NX8 version out there to avoid the early reported eyebox issues.)

For hunting ( coyote and white tail ) and occasional steel out to 1k max.

Thanks for any reply.

The 7mm-300WSM Improved utilizes a 45° shoulder based off the 300WSM and 270WSM, which is shorter than the standard 7WSM. The benefits are a longer neck to support the longer heavier bullets and availability of good quality Norma and ADG brass, which the plain 7WSM does not have.
I make my cases out of 270WSM Norma. It doesn't get any easier, simply take the 270WSM case and run it through a 7mm expander mandrel (included). Then prime the case and fill it with the preferred powder for the bullet weight (N560 for the 175 grain Berger, H1000 for the 180)

SOLD SAC/Surgeon Built Armalite .260 rem CAG Trials Rifle

Up for sale is a small piece of history, In the early 2010's, CAG wanted .260 rifles to match their surgeon CSR's, SAC & Armalite came up with this rifle. This is a truly hand built, custom, semi-automatic rifle. For the ultimate in precision, performance, and exclusivity, the Armalite CAG Trials Rifle, a rare collaboration between SAC (Specialized Armaments Corporation) and Armalite, chambered in .260 Remington. This rifle was meticulously crafted for the demanding selection process of CAG, and to my knowledge, only four rifles were ever produced. If you're a serious collector, operator, or enthusiast, this is an opportunity to own a piece of military history. The rifle looks to be only test fired, there are a few small knicks and marks from being stored in a safe. The only other one on the market that I have seen, is currently for sale for $25k.

SOLD Shipped. Comes as pictured with a KAC 10rd mag.
Venmo F&F or bank wire only.

7.62 Mk316-ish hand load expectations

A buddy and I have been tinkering around with some reloading recently and after a sort of expensive learning curve, we ended up finding the Mk316 Mod 0 recipe which worked perfect since we had a solid line of (relatively) cheap 175gr SMKs and IMR 4064. I was able to aquire some LC machine gun brass through a local shop that is all the same lot and then we've tried both CCI #34 and some Winchester military primers. The load has worked very well for us, landing about .75 MOA out of an LMT MWS and closer to .6 out of my custom R700. Honestly I'm almost comfortable using every component I have with this recipe, but the only thing holding me back from doing it is the fact that once in about every 10 or so rounds, I'll get a flier in a random direction that puts it at about a minute or sometimes a little worse. We're pretty exacting with our loading for our standards and what were expecting, cases all trimmed to within ±.002 case length, powder charge to the tenth of a grain, COAL measured on each round to be within a thousands or so. What would yalls best guess be for that error? Obviously there shooter, but between the two of us and 3 rifles, we can call our shots to be a solid string and still both end up with about that 1/10 figure. Maybe the brass has some inconsistency and we just discard that piece of brass for the next round of loading? I haven't been able to do more loading after firing it from our rifles, so maybe results will differ with a 3rd run. We're very much amateurs so any advice or ideas is appreciated.

10/22 action rocking in Magpul stock

Hey guys,
I recently removed my action from the stock to add some QD sling mounts. When I replaced it I noticed the action rocks forward and backward in the stock now. I’m not sure if it did or did not before. But I notice it now. Has anyone else had this problem and how did they fix it? Also is there any negative to using the wide bull barrel forend with a regular barrel? Thanks.
