7.62 Mk316-ish hand load expectations

A buddy and I have been tinkering around with some reloading recently and after a sort of expensive learning curve, we ended up finding the Mk316 Mod 0 recipe which worked perfect since we had a solid line of (relatively) cheap 175gr SMKs and IMR 4064. I was able to aquire some LC machine gun brass through a local shop that is all the same lot and then we've tried both CCI #34 and some Winchester military primers. The load has worked very well for us, landing about .75 MOA out of an LMT MWS and closer to .6 out of my custom R700. Honestly I'm almost comfortable using every component I have with this recipe, but the only thing holding me back from doing it is the fact that once in about every 10 or so rounds, I'll get a flier in a random direction that puts it at about a minute or sometimes a little worse. We're pretty exacting with our loading for our standards and what were expecting, cases all trimmed to within ±.002 case length, powder charge to the tenth of a grain, COAL measured on each round to be within a thousands or so. What would yalls best guess be for that error? Obviously there shooter, but between the two of us and 3 rifles, we can call our shots to be a solid string and still both end up with about that 1/10 figure. Maybe the brass has some inconsistency and we just discard that piece of brass for the next round of loading? I haven't been able to do more loading after firing it from our rifles, so maybe results will differ with a 3rd run. We're very much amateurs so any advice or ideas is appreciated.

Reloading Equipment Super Trickler Gen2

For sale. I bought this about 6 months ago. Super Trickler Gen 2 Software version 3.0.6. Bought from Super Trickler directly, not second hand. I’ve loaded probably 1500-2000 rounds on it paired to my A&D fx120i. It works great. No problems. Nothing broken. I just wanted to see what it was all about. Comes with everything that it should. I don’t have the original packaging anymore. 500$ PP plus however you want it shipped conus. Or face to face if you’re in the manatee county FL area. Cross posted.

10/22 action rocking in Magpul stock

Hey guys,
I recently removed my action from the stock to add some QD sling mounts. When I replaced it I noticed the action rocks forward and backward in the stock now. I’m not sure if it did or did not before. But I notice it now. Has anyone else had this problem and how did they fix it? Also is there any negative to using the wide bull barrel forend with a regular barrel? Thanks.

3 way trimmers.........

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Henderson only issue for me is I'm not always doing large batches of brass. The most I do at one time is 200 to 225. I'm usually doing 20 to 50 usually. I use an older Lyman brass trimmer then use a drill to chamfer and deburr. My hands suck so the Henderson is the best one I found. I would use it everytime to slightly trim chamfer and deburr. I figure way more consistent but the batches I do I figured I would ask if there is anything else out there cheaper before I drop $1000.

Main caliber is 300 norma improved 35
30 nosler

To cut or not to cut...new Tikka T3X Lite

Hi all,

It's been a minute since I've been on this site and after years of the tactical game, I've started down the rabbit hole of scout rifles and "general purpose" rifles. My scout game is covered with both a Steyr Scout and a Ruger GSR and I recently purchased a Tikka T3x Arctic which is a lovely beast. However, I found myself with a left over West German Schmidt & Bender fixed 4x scope that is amazingly bright and sharp and thus the hunt began for a host rifle for this scope.

Last week I picked up a .308 Tikka T3x Lite. 22.4" Stainless, 1:11 twist, synthetic stock, etc. My initial thought is to have it cut back to either 18.5" or 20". I envision this rifle to be a handy "ranch" rifle so to speak. I plan to drop it into a used CTR stock I just bought off eBay so that I have 10 rd. mag compatibility with my Arctic. With a fixed 4x I don't imagine shots over 300-400m. I found a reputable gunsmith in the area who will cut my barrel back, thread and even mount his proprietary muzzle brake (Scott @ Live Oak Accuracy outside of Dallas). However, because the barrel diameter being pretty thin to begin with, he'd have to thread to 1/2x28 instead of the more common 5/8x24 for .308.

So now I'm waffling on which direction to go. Should I simply have it cut? If so...to what length? I'm leaning towards 20" to keep it the same as the Arctic, but 18.5" is kind of the old school "carbine" length.

Do I have it threaded...and then have to live with a very specific muzzle brake (albeit a very effective and well made one)? If this option, I'm thinking 18.5" which would put the finished length at 19.75" or thereabouts. Scott did offer to make a thread adaptor which would allow me to use other muzzle devices, but I'm hesitant to use a can with a thread adaptor. But it does provide options for other muzzle devices, flash hiders, etc.

Then there's the piece about gambling with accuracy. The Tikka is guaranteed MOA...do I risk negatively impacting accuracy by cutting? I have faith in Scott's work and reputation but I tend to follow the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach to life.

So, I'm torn...which direction would you go if faced with this dilemma?

Bergara B14 HMR or something else?

I am debating a Bergara B14 HMR in 6.5CM for longer range target work and shooting feral hogs out to ~200 yards. Is there a better rifle for similar money? What sort of accuracy am I looking at for farther shots at 400 yards or more? Regarding the feral hogs, I get good results with a 16" AR-15 in 6.8SPC so, I'm expecting with more velocity and better bullets, the 6.5CM from a ~22" barrel will do a good number on a big sow or boar out to 200 yards. Thoughts on the caliber and rifle?

TIA,
Sid
