Christmas gift discussion thread

As you guys have seen, I posted a Christmas gift thread, but there is no discussion allowed in the thread (the entire point is to assign a post number with a member that participates, nothing more). So, this will be the discussion for anything related to that Christmas gift thread! Post all you want over here, ask me questions about the gifts, etc.

My question to you guys - do you like the gifts in the Christmas gift thread? I hope it's stuff that guys here would be interested in, but it is stuff that's more tailored to the members who hangout in the Vintage Section.

Here's a link to the Christmas gift thread:

Trijicon Credo 1-10

Noticed this listing for a new 1-10 trijicon LPVO browsing Optics Planet. Searched around and saw the same on Kenzie optics, but no details elsewhere.

Looks like a few changes from the 1-8 credo. Windage is now capped instead of locking/exposed like the elevation, and the reticle is now the same as what's in the VCOG SCO (not enough wind holds imo). Not sure the specs on optics planet are accurate since it keeps going back and forth between 30mm and 34mm tube.

Personally I'm interested. Not holding out hope for better brightness, but the 1-8 credo is my second favorite LPVO, right after the ATACR.

Is body armor necessary for a civilian?

Look, I know that body armor is very useful. As a civilian that has absolutely no intention of getting in a shoot out. It seems to have no purpose for me. However my close friend keeps insisting that I get LVL4 ceramic plates and a carrier. Should I buy them or is this just hype? If "Stuff" hits the fan, I'm not going to make myself look like a target.
Am I wrong? Am I missing something?

Optics ISO Broken Optics

My bro-in-law is in grad school researching and working with optics and lasers.

Anyone have any decommissioned or broken optics lying around that you’d be willing to donate? He plans to cut them open in the lab as part of his research.

I’ve already hooked him up with a couple cheap hunting scopes, primarily looking for other varieties of mid-grade optics. Don’t need ZCO quality, but something of decent build quality would be helpful.

I’ll cover shipping.

Thanks for your consideration!

Short Barrel 300 PRC

Hi all,

I am building a new 300 PRC, will primarily run it with a suppressor for hunting so I am planning on having.a short barrel spun up. Thinking 20 or 21 inches.

I currently have a 22" 300 PRC Seekins Havak Element that I am selling to build a custom gun (stupid, but I need to scratch the itch) and I am perfectly fine with the performance of that gun on game.

Question is, anyone have experience going shorter? 20, 21"? 20" would be phenomenal for me but not sure what people are pushing pills at with that barrel length. I do reload now, so factory loads are not something that will hold me back. Primarily will be loading the 190 grain LRX.

If anyone runs a 300 PRC at 20, 21 inches, would you mind sharing your bullet weights and velocity? Thank you in advance!

Edit: curious about twist as well in the shorter barrels, I am planning 1-9 which I think should cover me from the longer mono's up to the 225's.

Firearms LMT MARS H, KAC, Criterion

I have a LMT MARS-HS LE contract lower with a hyperfire single stage, green sprinco, b5 precision stock.

Upper is a Centurion Mk11 with an 18" Criterion M118LR barrel, I've got 460 rounds of 118LR on it. Has the 15" URX4 and the D Wilson Arca rails. Knights Armament BCG and your choice of a Knights Armament or a Raptor charging handle. Currently has a HUX suppressor mount on it.
I shot 10 0.75 MOA groups +/- 0.2 MOA in a row with Lake City LL18LR. The rifle is very accurate. The paint makes the gun look way older and more used than it is. I can remove if desired.
3300 sent to your FFL.
