Mike Wilson has been shooting competitively since 2004. He’s held four International Benchrest Shooters (IBS) records, and he’s currently ranked third nationally among IBS Long Range Marksmen. But even he couldn’t believe his eyes last Saturday when he approached his 1000-yard target at the Hawks Ridge Gun Club in Ferguson, N.C.

“I was stunned. It was such a small group,” he said in an interview with GunsAmerica. “I was pretty emotional. I’ve been doing it so long, I have such a love for the sport. It’ll get to you, when you love it that much.”

Wilson’s world record-setting 5-shot group measured 1.068 inches or, in angular terms, a stunning 0.102 minutes of angle (MOA). He even managed to land all five rounds in the center X-ring for a perfect score. (The previous 5-shot, light gun IBS record, set in 2007, measured 1.397 inches.)

    That is just insane.
Never Mind the group, it was center x as well.
    Both together is nuts.
He must have a extreme spread, not sd but extreme spread of 1 fps.

I am very happy for that shooter to be able to place those shots at that distance , great shooting is inspiring...

Next time there is a thread about scopes and max power and people chime in that you don't need more than 15X etc...
I guess they are right if you don't plan on shooting groups like those....lol

id put it away and never shoot again LOL!!!
I wouldn't. I'd wear it out beating up on my friends. There's a reason barrels have threads. I was one of three who certified the target. I don't know what the official measurement ended up but I think it grew a few thousandths. I know my measurement was a bit larger.
And to all you'd be surprised how infrequently a chrono is used. The target tells all. All my years competing I never ever made a decision based on the chrono results. Did I have the experience to work up a load and end up where I needed to be, sure but I used a chrono was just to verify velocity. I never remember a conversation about SD's.

Absolutely no Krylon on the gun, no tactical sling, the guy is sans anything colored Coyote Brown, no sniper veil, and he hasn't proclaimed his unquestioning belief in everything the police or military do as being done 100 percent perfectly, nor has he put out a statement about how his feat was just like being on patrol in Iraq.

Why are we even talking about this?

Even by BR standards, this guy has yet to enter the gear race.

It's just because he had is NV bridge removed. Put that back on there and it's TAF - tactical as fuck!

Now we are talking, shoot that group at night with night vision and maybe he is deserving of a post.

I'm going to go polish my Team Wendy raid helmet. It's the maritime version HooYah! TAF!

Agree...I’ve watch bob hoppie and Robert latch do load Development...neither ones uses a chrony and load development is minimal.
