Good evening gents,

I'm like a kid waiting for Santa right now. The brown truck should be dropping my Minox ZP5 off tomorrow and hopefully it will be waiting for me when I get home from being under anesthesia.

I figured I'd post this so I'd possibly have some elightneing reading material while holed up in the hospital.

For those of you with some time behind the Minox ZP5, how are you liking the optic so far? I know glass is subjective, but nearly every review states it is stunning if not the best people have looked through -- and this comes to comparisons of some very top tier scopes. How about tracking, turret feel, etc...

I'll find all this out shortly, but go ahead and tease me while I wait.

Thank you,

Mark

Congrats Mark, an excellent choice. If you've never had a Premier scope or a Schmidt & Bender and the like, than you need to video yourself when you first look through it in the field because the jaw drop and then the big smile is priceless as you see things you've never seen before, and I'm not talking about just clarity or resolution, but there is something about these high end scopes that make the experience that much more pleasurable. Some have called the view a "3D image" where the image just "pops" when you look through the scope, colors are more vibrant and true, clarity is stunning, eye box is forgiving and everything in between. Then, when you get a chance, take the scope out when the light gets low after the sun has gone down, and put the scope on about 12x and look at a dark area, an area that to your naked eye looks like would be a challenge for you to see anything and then "prepare to be amazed" (love that line from Meet the Robinsons) as the scope picks up more detail than you thought possible. If you think I'm embellishing a little, well okay, you got me, yes I am, but you get the idea, there is something special that can't always be put into words when looking through scopes of this caliber. Since you're going to be sitting around or laying around after you get home, take the scope out and work the turrets and parallax, all new scopes have their tight spots that usually get worked out over time. Have fun and be sure to post your thoughts.

This has become my favorite optic. The turrets are fantastic, the glass is the best I've used, and the the reticle is my favorite. I enjoy it more than my BEAST, my Schmidt, Khales Gen3 or Vortex Gen2. If it holds up well, it will likely be the only scope I use.

The parallax is not marked with yards, but I am close to infinity for anything past 500 yards. Truly a remarkable optic.

The ZP5 came in today. First off, wow to the MR4 reticle. I'm very pleased. The glass seems crystal clear which I expected, but truth will tell when I can stretch it out this weekend. I was only able to view the area down my block. She's a beaut and I think the AT likes it already. This is also my first time with the Era Tac mount -- this thing is solid! I'll have more about the scope after I take it for a spin here in a couple days. Thank you all for the replies.

The only reason I bought my first was the Amazon pricing mistake. I loved it so much, bought a second one with the mr4 reticle. This is by far my favorite scope.

I've read enough of these "favorite scope" responses about the ZP5. Looks like I have to buy one now...

These are sweet scopes guys, everything as advertised. I'm thinking of selling my 3-15 ZP5 for the extra mag, I'm not getting any younger. Mike gives a awesome deal. Can't go wrong.

^^^ Nice on the sunshade tip from Kahles. Though with about an inch of scope that extends beyond the front objective the ZP5 already has a somewhat built in sunshade. I'm assuming the Tenebraex cap that comes with the Minox also slips right on the front of the Kahles sunshade?

You have to unthread the tenebraex adapter in order to fit the kahles sunshade. The adapter then threads in the sunshade.

Mike at CS Tactical shipped mine earlier this week and I took it out to the range today. It's a 5-25 model.

Here's the short of it... the image is STUNNING. It's friggin magnificent. Optically, it may be the best I've ever looked through, and I've looked through a lot of Alpha glass.

How do you like it compared to your 7-35?

Covert is as Covert does.

Plenty of good feedback on the scout site.

They're very close. The Minox handles CA better... but we're talking slightly because CA is pretty much non existant on the NF. Simply can't induce CA with the Minox.

Had some mirage today so didn't focus too much on resolution but it seems a wash to me during the few hours I shot with them side by side... difference being the NF actually seems to resolve to 35x.

Both scopes are magnificent and setting the bar really high. Can't imagine anyone being unhappy with either. The optical quality of both are just stunning.

Turrets are better on the NF.

Reticles are better on the Minox.

Only got to shoot to 600 today with my 6.5 and my 338 so there wasn't much testing with tracking but they're both good to 3.6! ;) hehe

Fantastic scope. I just ordered my second. Amazon had them listed last week for 2300 as a mistake. I wish I could have gotten in on one of those. They have since fixed the price.

Did I miss the public service announcement on this??? I would've bought 3. :(

MR5. Next one will be MR4 or MR2... still deciding which.

I've always liked the MR5, MSR style reticle. This is the MSR done right. The center cross hair tapers. Love it.

Reading all this goodness sure has me thinking... These 2k optics are gonna break my piggy bank if I don't stay off this site...

My first ZP5 has the MR2 reticle which I picked over the MR5 (MR4 not available at that time). I already had a scope with hashes every .2 mils and I found it to be very easy to use. The only downside is that only the center of the reticle is illuminated (Like the Steiner M5 MSR and S&B P4L reticle) but I probably will never really need illumination anyway.
My 2nd ZP5 has the MR4 and I can't think of anything I'd change on it. The floating center dot makes precise target shooting easy, the .2 mil hashes make wind holds a breeze (no pun intended) and the "Christmas tree" works well, although I need more practice with it before I'd attempt to run a match without dialing corrections.

That is so true. I purchased first ZP5 5-25x56 scope when they came out and now I have 3 x ZP5. I like so much MR5 reticle and image quality.

The ZP5 5-25X56 will be my next scope. The question is MR4 or MR5? I like the center dot on the MR4 and the .2 mil graduations. My other scope is the Nightforce ATACR 5-25X56 F1 Mil-R reticle.

Had to get one to, just to see what the hype is about. Got it mounted on my .204 Ruger right now, won't be used out to more than maybe 400-500 yards or so for varminting, depends on how the rifle shoots. Were initially out for another scope but got a good price on this one, so what the hell?.

Going to test it out next week, and compare it to my March 5-40x56 which sits on the rifle up top, a fully custom 10/22(mounted the March on it just for fun). Probably throw in a Kahles k624i gen 3 in the comparison too.

Can't wait for this comparison! I'm thinking hard about the ZP5 with MR4 reticle... wish I could have got in on that amazon steal. Who all is selling the Minox?

Mike at CS Tactical will take care of ya

Amazon changes the price on these almost every day. $2784 for the MR5 today.

So, thoughts?

So, thoughts?

The Minox got less CA(couldn't se any at all, even tho it was sunny and snow is still on the ground), the optical qualities are great. Better reticle MR4.

The March got sick resolution, better turrets when it comes to the clicks and feel, also the march is a bit smaller(works well on a lighter build).

Ended up selling the Minox(without a loss) and kept the March, but would be happy to use the Minox and probably going to get a new one later on when i got a rifle to use it on.

Both are just awesome scopes.

Torn between one of these and another AMG. I have a Premier 5-25 and given background of Minox and then looking at the length and profile of this scope I'd say they took proven performance and upgraded reticles and turrets.

Hopefully Friday I'll have joined the club. Thanks to cstactical I have a MR4 coming my way and a set of ARC rings.

How does ZP5 glass compare to AMG?

I hear turrets are good enough but maybe not as good as Vortex and Nightforce, any feedback around that. What about 14 mils per turn, tight or ok? Assuming repeatable given buy-in and some guys have good match success?

Durable as other Tier1 scopes? Durable as Premier if this is basically a new Premier? Really think this is the exact same tube body.

Trying to sell myself on this but I know I can get a Vortex and get what I need.

MR4 looks like best blend of EBR2c and EBR7. I like the .2 hashes but .2 and bold .5 in EBR7 is almost too much. Eye is drawn to bold but I want to look at .2's. Clean .2's seems more intuitive.

Vortex rzr 2 turrets are probably a little better than the Minox, but the Minox turrets are better than the AMG. The ZP5 glass is noticeably better than both the Gen 2 and the AMG. The ZP5 is also only about 5 oz heavier than the AMG, too, and 14-15oz lighter than the Gen 2. Pretty amazing scope.

cant speak to durability because I haven't broken it yet...

I wouldn't say the RZR has better turrets. One has 14 mils per rev and the other has 10. A 14 mil turret will never be as audible as a 10. The ZP5 is hands down the best value in scopes right now! They are simply amazing, I highly recommend getting behind one of your in the market for new glass!

How well do your turrets line up with the corresponding marks on the scope body, I watched a YouTube video like 2 days ago and the markings looked off. Im thinking hard about selling my new gen 2 Razor and picking one of these up. How's the Minox warranty?

I'm surprised to hear that about the turrets. I don't have my minox yet but I do have a gen 2 and an AMG. I think the turrets on the AMG are nicer than the gen 2. Hoping the minox has turrets similar to the premier scopes did.

The markings off a little is due to user error. When you loosen the set screws to reset the knobs there isn't any clicks like many other scopes, its just a smooth slide back to zero. If you're off a small amount when you tighten the set screws you'll be off when you turn the knobs.

Thanks for that bit of info... What kind of warranty does Minox currently have for US customers?

Snagged the MR4 on cstactical. Going to give it a try!

We're working on the Warranty with them and are waiting on it to be in writing, but it will be better than what is currently listed on their site

We have one MINOX 66602 ZP 5 Rifle Scope 5-25x56 MR4 and one 5-25x56 MR5 left right now:
MINOX 66602 ZP 5 Rifle Scope 5-25x56 MR4 https://www.cstactical.com/p/5490-Minox-ZP5-TAC-5-25x56-w/-MR4-Reticle.aspx
Minox ZP5 TAC 5-25x56 w/ MR5 Reticle https://www.cstactical.com/minox-zp5-tac-5-25x56-w-mr5-reticle

In writing, the scope has a lifetime warranty to the original owner once it's registered.

My 3-15 zp5 is by far the best optic I have ever owned. Its quite frankly incredible.

I've been debating lately of parting with my premier for a minox but I'm not sure I'll like the turrets after being spoiled by the premier.

Is anyone making throw levers for the ZP5s? Also, what is everyone doing for sunshades as it looks like they don't come with them.
