It’s a joke about the stores before a storm.
Yeah I got that. After Covid, all the stores around here put limits on the amount of things you could buy. My point was, that the limits are all below our normal purchase amounts due to the size of my family, how much my boys can eat, and the fact we don’t go to town but once every couple of weeks.
The red helmets are a nice touch...do you want to be seen, or don't you? They are fucking up our military...but I'm an ole retired prick.

Everything’s covered in 1/4” or more of ice; and it’s gonna get worse as the day goes by. Good times.
It’s nowhere near as bad as last year’s ‘Snowpocolypse’ of course, but with no real means or infrastructure to deal with inclement weather like this down here in the Tejas hill country, it’ll be sporty.
We’re all set though, and thank God today’s my ‘Saturday’ … off until Sunday when the weather should be much better. Just gonna hang out, catch up on some books, and netflix and chill.
edit: and God bless all the farmers, ranchers, cattlemen, and critical role folks who have to be out in this mess.
I managed to stay somewhat warm today but it is hard on the cattle. They wanted to be in the woods so I hayed them in the woods. Plenty of hay and protein is about all I can do. Thank goodness my youngest calves are a week old now. Imagine being 104 degrees one second and hitting the soaking wet ground in 35 degree rain, a hell of a way to come into the world.I wish it was just snowing…

Stop using the grocery store stew meat. It is over priced junk. Just buy a chuck roast and cut it up yourself. And btw, tri tip is better for making chili.
I feel sorry for the livestock and anything having to be outside.

I retired a few years ago. Stopped by the base today to drop off a buddy after lunch and decided to go see another friend that's the Security Forces commander. On my way back to his office, I see some of the guys in the conference room sitting around BSing. One of em had a full blown beard, IN UNIFORM! I couldn't believe it. No, not a shaving waiver. A RELIGIOUS WAIVER!
I asked my buddy what that was about, he said his squadron leads the wing in religious waivers. I asked what religion, and he said, CHRISTIAN!
I was blown away. But if it works for one, it better work for all. Couldn't believe it.
We have more retirees as contractors and civvies than I ever saw when I was active duty for our "exercises and experiments" for what I do now. I had shaved off my whiskers, and a retired CW4 gave me some guff. He didn't recognize me. Hehe.
