Is something going on in Ukraine?

Russia sends a some pons and a knight taking pieces on one part of the board, and a bishop slips into striking range of one of their rooks on the other where they didn’t expect. They thought it was mostly a 2-way game, but how many players are there really?

Volatility is a great time to claim territorial disputes 7 time zones away.

Japan's going to open up a sushi place in the Kuril islands. No one will dispute it after that.

I'm almost of the opinion that Japan should move resources to those islands and say fk it. they also need to change their constitution as we need them to militarize

don't make too much of the "warm water ports" idea that a previous poster was talking about. Most people who talk about that stuff don't know that it was a theory written 130 years ago in a book called "The Influence of Sea Power Upon History" by A.T. Mahan. It was a very influential book for it's time, but that was also the age before air power.

Russia has ports, and any/all Black Sea ports are easily interdicted by the Turks at the Bosporus and Hellespont anyway.

Mariupol was a very strongly pro-Russian town near Donetsk. When that area declared independence in 14, the AFU went in and terrorized the citizenry, kicked out the local separatist militias, and then did all sorts of wonderful things like crucifying and burning pro-Russian male residents afterwards to "teach them a lesson". Mariupol is a priority because of what happened there before, not because of it's value as a potentially land-locked seaport that would be under Russian guns at Taman and Kerch.
Yes I get that the area is heavily ethically Russian but having more ports that do not freeze during winter is definitely something they want back. It would also land lock Ukraine if they are successful in pushing to Odessa.

O yes but they do not need western Ukraine to do that. Whats the date on that pipeline map, I do not see either of the nord streams or the south/turk stream.

Russia has already begun building routes around Ukraine.

This PDF below is fairly dated but it still has some decent information.

There have been issues for years with gas flowing through Ukraine.
Yes, and I’ve been following it for years. I was there in Russia/Finland when they shut off gas to Ukraine in January 2009, but it still flowed through Ukraine to the hubs in Central Europe. It was big news then, people freezing in Ukraine, major headlines in Euronews. I addressed it earlier.

See how huge the pipelines are, those main arteries that go into Western Ukraine? Those aren’t going anywhere, even if they have Nord Stream, South Stream, and Turk Stream unless something major changed. The paper you cited starts off stating Ukraine is the biggest transit route as of its publication.

Trump blocked Nord Stream, the Biden-su opened it up for Putin. There is a volumetric demand that can’t just be handled by alternate routes, especially when you look at how established the pipes are for NG and oil. No matter where Russia goes, they have to negotiate with border nations and historic enemies who they have invaded and been invaded by over the centuries. The common denominator with all of these nations is long-term disputes and unsettled scores with Russia.

I added maps but I guess you had hit 'quote' before they went up.

As I said, Russia has ports all over the Black Sea. I understand you got your info from another poster, but they are ignorant of the geography of the Black Sea. Mariupol is in the Sea of Azov, which has one tiny outlet into the Black Sea. That outlet is completely controlled on both sides by Russian Territory. If Russia wanted, they could choke off the entire sea of Azov. So Mariupol is not a factor in that regard.

The Black sea itself has one tiny outlet into the Mediterranean, which Turkey can and sometimes does cut off.

I have been on the port thing for years hell before even joined this form. Much of the Soviet Navy was built in Ukraine.

Not just Mariupol.

You are aware Russia’s only aircraft carrier was built in Mykoliv Ukraine? Her sister ship sold and now operated by China?

we slaughtered 10s or 100s of thousands of goat herders in afghanistan, iraq, and other places, that were no danger to america, in response to a couple dozen saudis that killed 3000 americans.
ukrainian forces or their nazi allies (depending on if you consider azov official uke military) have killed 3,300 civilians in the donbas region since 2014, along with around 6k combatants (uke or russian) fighting for independence from this corrupt regime and the ones before it.

sorry, but condemning putin is the worst sort of hypocrisy from our politicians and war mongers.
i can condemn him and you can, but they have no business talking out of their asses.

Try about one million, 1,000,000 Iraqi's, and on the basis of a lie, we have no moral ground to stand on.

Elon wanted to fight Putin why doesn't he just use his money. Offer 100 million for his head in a burlap sack, that should get bounty hunters and black op companies on the hunt.

Musk is just being a jackass, I can't believe people really took him seriously.

And all the misery from "Arab Spring" that cost a bunch more lives and nearly put a bunch of stone age fanatics in charge of Egypt. Same people who did all that shit now wanna go have a war in Ukraine.

I don't think Russia has any aspirations to rebuild the Soviet Navy. They couldn't afford it.

I think Shinzo Abe said the same thing, with Trumps blessings. I'm sure the retards in office today would advise otherwise in fear of angering China.

word of the day> :ROFLMAO:

Kleptocracy (from Greek κλέπτης kléptēs, "thief", κλέπτω kléptō, "I steal", and -κρατία -kratía from κράτος krátos, "power, rule") is a government whose corrupt leaders (kleptocrats) use political power to appropriate the wealth of the people and land they govern, typically by embezzling or misappropriating government funds at the expense of the wider population.[1][2] ...One feature of political-based socioeconomic thievery is that there is often no public announcement explaining or apologizing for misappropriations, nor any legal charges or punishment levied against the offenders.

I worked with a guy from Russia, deceased since I worked with him, but he was very anti-Ukraine. Said "they are filthy people, blah blah blah" type stuff anytime Ukraine was mentioned. In 2014 he was like..."they deserve what they're getting." I have to say I wish I could get his opinion on this now; because it'd be interesting. So, I'm guessing this Nazi connection is known well to the average Russian.

Ukraine was/is famous for corruption, crime ala Mafia (Hunter Biden ring a bell? Clinton foundation getting almost all their foreign donations from Ukraine? Ukraine billionaires all over the place while regular people are super poor?). Same for a lot of those other countries in that general area Romania, Albania etc. Turks aren't exactly popular either.

You go to Italy or Greece and they HATE a lot of those people, hell they still make a lot of noise about chasing the Gypsy folks out of town lol.

Joe Blow America doesn't know any of this stuff but he does know what a "Nazi" is hence why the word is flying all around.

I really don’t think their primary goals are Kiev and western Ukraine. As was pointed out earlier they want the ports/Black sea access. Noticed the one city that they were sieging and have completely surrounded is Mariupol?

I see what you are saying about the northern force tying up resupply to the south east. Seems logical.
I mentioned that a few pages back. Pootin wants that port to the southeast of Kiev. He wants to close off all points of entry to NATO. He wants any and all of the US corruption away from his back door. After all, we have 37(?) bio-labs in Ukraine, just to study Anthrax and the Swine Flu?? Yeah, I kinda understand his position on this.
Nothing to see here. Mac

I agree with most of what you said here, but especially the points above:

Russia is not even comparable to us conventionally. If you go back 20 or 30 pages in this thread you'll see me saying it over and over. That is why, if NATO jumps in (which some special operators who operate operationally are telling me is extremely unlikely based on deployments) and Russia begins to get it's ass kicked badly and they feel their existence is threatened, then tactical nukes might be on the table.

I believe they are holding back some of their best equipment for just that possibility. But whether they are holding it back and allowing NATO to know that, as a deterrent, or whether they think that they would actually be able to blunt a direct intervention by NATO...well there I'd only be guessing.

And yes, Ukraine is fighting hard and it is not all going the Russians way. But Ukraine is losing. And they are losing badly in the East. The Western part of the invasion is, in my opinion, a holding force meant to keep Kiev from reinforcing the East. Once the Donbas is cleared of AFU troops, then you may see the impetus switch to the SW or even Kiev.

I am just interested to see how this impending amphibious assault near Odessa plays out.
Will the Russians commit to the landing or back away? How long will they loiter?

That could mean 30-40+ tanks and 1000+ troops headed for Odessa.

I have no idea. If anyone has concrete information on approximate troops in such a landing force, it would be interesting to know.
Either way, this would be an interesting landing as the Ukrainians are aware and it will be a contested landing.

It does match the map from President Alexander Lukashenko's presentation. Which lends credence to the validity of him using more than just a prop for his press brief.

Why did ya kill him ?
Haha...actually he was a heck of a nice guy. I hadn't spoken to him in about 2 years when I got a message from former colleagues that he had a massive heart attack and died. I seem to recall he'd just been boosted for Covid. My guess is that's why he passed away.

i don't know what this is...but suspicious?

Probably another example of taking a video from a one of the climate protests or a movie set and mislabeling it as being from Ukraine.

Its a war zone. Finding bodies laying around is pretty easy to accomplish. They don't need to stage events.

I know this won't matter to you though. After being repeatedly informed that the last photo you pushed out was from a specific climate protest in Germany you kept repeatedly posting in on here.

You do agree then that both parties are fucked up for doing shit like this right?
You are a aware David Koresh was a pedophile right. He was a kiddy fucker!

He was in his 30’s and married a 14 year old... Rachel

Then married and started fucking her younger sister Michelle.

He then hid behind these kids for 53 days. While it’s tragic they were killed And the Feds did fuck up, don’t understand why so many people rally behind us like it was a good thing that was happening there.

They were sick fucking pedophiles!

interesting comment. so far it seems that most of the isolationists are conservatives, but many of the 'pro-ukraine' guys here are democrats. haney, that 5r dude, fig, and if the first thing you think of for a political meme is 'both parties do it' I guess you too?

btw, why would you call out LBC for exposing the fake news about the "russian bombing victims" that turned out to be street theater. they were trying to use the clip as evidence of war crimes. it wasn't. it was fake news.

the guy used to jog around Waco unarmed and by himself. Don't you think it would have been better to grab him there, instead of doing what they did?

You said it before I could. Also realize that the Sheriff in that county stated that if he ever needed to talk with Koresh, he'd make a phone call. Then Koresh would go see the Sheriff.

Yeah I would call 100 people burned alive a "tragedy" too lol. Especially since none of it had to happen, it was just DOJ thugs waving their tiny dicks around. Same for Ruby Ridge, more corrupt DOJ thugs doing what thugs do.
