Isn't there a massive plant being erected as we speak in phoenix?
Isn't there a massive plant being erected as we speak in phoenix?
Passed it on the 303 on Wednesday, it IS impressive. It may not look all that big until you check the scale of all those cranes and how far away it is from the road.Yes. It’s an impressive sight from I-17.
Good article. There was a 60 minutes story recently that specifically discussed TSMC and it was informative.
The attached link is only a minute of the actual interview but if I find the full length version I’ll copy it here.
Was thinking the same thing myself. Scuttle the ship so to speak. He said "If theres a war everything will be destroyed." I wonder if they will destroy it to keep the Chicoms from getting it. I'd hope so.
THat is impressive. I wonder if hem turning to us, rather than the Chinese, could push them to an attack.![]()
Inside TSMC, the Taiwanese chipmaking giant that's building a new plant in Phoenix
Taiwan Semiconductor is investing $100 billion to ramp up production during the chip shortage. Its Phoenix plant will bring chip manufacturing back to the U.S.www.cnbc.com
Short sighted on your behalf.oh no, people won't be able to get a new phone they don't need.
Wasn't trying to dump on the topic, just couldn't resist a dig on our consumerism. Honestly I think mass migration from poor shit holes is driven by greed and the need for more consumers for their shit, except we pay most of the bills.Short sighted on your behalf.
Chips are in cars and trucks, refrigerators, stoves, cellphones, radios and TVs, heating and AC, dishwashers, computers and laptops, clothes washers and dryers, farm equipment, construction equipment (lazer levels and surveying scopes), the scanner the mechanic uses on your cars and trucks.
Chips of one sort or another have embedded themselves into literally every moment of your day....yes there is probably one in your electric coffee pot, there is definitely one in your instant pot cooker.
What about your ballistics comp and your wind meters ?
Yes we can do without them, but it would be so hard you'd puke.
Interesting view. I agree. You could take over the factory and probably not produce very much because TSMC like many other super high tech places rely on a worldwide network of engineers, process monitors and control techs.
Parts and upgrades and service come from Europe.
But what we are doing is showing the Chinese and anyone else that doesn't want to be a serf to the empire of America, that if you don't want to be a serf, you are going to have to build all your own stuff and it's a very long road to play catch up, because the USA likes to tell the entire rest of the world what they can and cannot do depending on the whims of our politicians.
