Came across an article in the local Sing Tao Chinese newspaper the other day about how there is an absolutely massive market and production/distribution network for these in China over the past decade. The hard truth: There is simply not enough chicken and duck farms in China to sustain a population where a substantial part of the cuisine is based on eggs and birds, so commercial scale waterfowl, wild grouse, and geese hunting supplements the regular factory farmed birds. Slamfire and crude bolt-firing pin pipe shotguns are used in much of these hunts. Local machine shop owners even produce the commercial grade brass and plastic hulled shells on a mass scale, available in birdshot, buck, buck and ball, or slug loads. Police and game authorities confiscated a number of these in the past and fined their owners but there are simply too much of these being made and used that it is a futile attempt.

In my case I was merging onto the highway. I had my blinker on and I was getting over so that I can get on route 95 - all of a sudden out of nowhere I see a vehicle in the rearview mirror that is going to hit me and I can tell he’s moving around 100 miles an hour.
In the interest of not getting smooshed, I simply step on the gas… And I go from the 75 miles an hour to a 120 in about two seconds (tops / not even possibly).
I’m thinking to myself “ it can’t be a police officer… They would have their lights on, and a siren if they were going that fast.”
Friggin sheriff from Prince Georges county, Maryland… Pulling 100 miles an hour in a police cruiser not chasing anyone and probably not going anywhere important. In clear violation of the law which requires him to have his lights on and the siren going.

Having a ton of torque and get up and go to get off the X in a hurry when you need to, so you don't get killed is kind of nice.
I think a lot of folks when they think about EVs and hybrids, are still stuck thinking about things like the Toyota Prius (the because you virtue signal like a boss car) or the original Nissan Leaf (the because you'd never need to go any further than the grocery store car).
The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring (mild hybrid) I had before had only 143 Horsepower and 129 lb-ft of Torque but it could still get up and go respectably.
However, the plug in Hybrid (High Voltage Hybrid) I now have which is 5 years newer, puts out 455 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque. The couple times I had to stomp on it in traffic to get off the X in a hurry, it was surprising how fast a huge SUV was suddenly way away from the X.

did not care for the way it handled,
slow to start but would cruise all day at speed, and handled funky on the off ramps,
Salesman went thru the motions with me, knowing I was not a buyer, (wanted to test drive the Scion FRS at the time, but they were out)
he told me he would get calls from his customers, some laughing, and some genuinely mad cause they got speeding tickets in a prius,
the car was insanely quiet and very very smooth at 80,
I ended up buying a Cooper S hardtop,
