I think there is something else that is also at play. With these types there is a level of self-absorption that has crossed over into an absolute need for attention. It is this attention seeking that is driving their behavior, and even bad attention is attention, which is the dopamine they crave. Want to see their world rally fall apart? Don't pay them any attention. They will either commit suicide as one last act for attention or begin to conform to normal society, albeit as very odd ducks, which is what they were to begin with.

The internet and social media has brought out the absolute worst in humanity - selfishness.
