Garmin Xero C1 Pro chronograph

Surely someone has run a LR against Litz's equipment

LR's 2928fps would have gotten you w/in ~1" of the Garmin's 2933fps @ 1000yds, no?
When Labradar first released it was tested against.

Anyone have a Weibel RTP-2100-MBPA Doppler we can test against?

If you have one, let me know, I will get my Xero C1 Pro out to do some testing!

Not to change subjects but kinda unbelievable there are no screen protector or protective sleeve options at release. I ordered mine from bass pro it comes in Tuesday. So far I'll be using a pelican 1040 cade to store it

I cut my own screen protector from some tablet sized armor shield that I had laying around. I'm sure you'll see pre cut screen protectors soon.

Garmin is releasing a silicone protective sleeve for the unit in Q1 2024, it's on their website in the accessories section but not available yet.

For those still not convinced the Xero is accurate enough against XYZ just know that Erik Cortina is now using one. Like him or hate him I’m sure he knows a thing or two about load development and solid numbers. View attachment 8259768

That Seb is hot. I wish mine would show up. Been over a year since I put my name on the list

A $10 zippered hardcase from Amazon did the trick for me. The Garmin has roughly the same dimensions as a GoPro.

I got an email from Ernie last week:

Wait times have been around 12-18 months
Seb is behind on production and is trying to play catch up.
Seb makes rests in large runs of a single rest design at a time.
Seb started the NEO-X run in mid to late Jan of 2023, which was much later than he expected.
Then, there was a short Standard NEO run...Just finished with that a couple of months ago. Then a handful of MAX’s

JOYPOD-X run just finished
He planned on doing the MINI-X and Standard MINI run following the NEO, but because of not getting raw materials when he hoped, is why the JOYPOD-X run is ahead of it.
Then, he has a short Standard MINI run and a larger MINI-X run.

MINI-X run has started. I do not know how many MINI-X’s I will be getting from this run yet.
NEO-X run will follow the MINI/MINI-X run sometime after the first of the year.
The NEO-X customers that will get the first rests after the first of the year have been on the waiting list since June of 2022/6-15-22.

I am not sure how many NEO-X's I will get in the next run, but Seb is doing another NEO-X run after the first one.

I'm #432 on the wait list (ordered 17 Apr 23) so I'll use my JoyPod-X until I get it. I sure liked the way that Eric mounted the Garmin and plan to do the same.

I have done a ton of load development sans chrono. I have a magneto speed sporter that I think got used once. It was a pain in the ass, so I never took it out of the case again. I simply shoot until I find the load I want. Have had no problem getting both good rifles and shit rifles to shoot the way I want.

All that being said….I grabbed one of these from Cabelas. I must say, I’m in love. The fact that this is so much easier to use than the MS and doesn’t seem to be giving the problems the Labradar has been giving the guys at the range with dropped shots and connectivity issues is what sold me on the idea. I took it to the range yesterday and never even read the instructions. It was fully charged and I set it next to my 6 dasher and turned it on. Walked thru the questions and saw how far away they suggest from the rifle and fired the first shot……no problem. Fired the next 4 and then went in and looked at ES and SD then started a new session. Proceeded to do this for the next 2 hours and never missed a shot. As luck would have it, a guy shooting a 300 win mag sat next to me, benches are about 3 feet apart, and when I saw he was a lefty I knew it would be a good test. I had my Dasher with a 419 muzzle brake and he had some big ass brake as well. I waited for his first shot, and the xero did not register it. Fired my shot and it had no issues giving me a reading. Our rifles were about 4’ apart in total and it never once picked up one of his shots.

I did end up actually learning something from the Xero. I learned that an older lot of h4895 vs my newer lot was 100fps slower, grain for grain. I like the way the older lot shoots and now I can do a test to see how much of the newer stuff gets me the same speed. Something I had no idea on from a simple 100 yard target test. So I guess I really did need a chrono after all and this is the perfect fit right now.

I did make a couple ”upgrades” immediately upon receiving. I had a table top tripod that is a heck of a lot nicer than what comes with it. I also had an old rmr case that the Garmin fit perfectly in. Other than that, I’m gonna run it every time I go now. I am not afraid to admit that I was wrong and a chrono is a valuable tool. Especially when it’s idiot proof like this one is.

Here are a couple pics. First is a string of 20 rounds of 2 different loads I was messing with so you can see the info it provides. Then the extras I did to it.

looks like you’re gonna have to turn your head sideways for the first pic……

Can you post a link to that? I don't see it listed on their accessories page.
Thanks

Are there really people who hate him? I don't know much about him, but I've seen several references to people hating him, but no explanations as to why?

Went to the range today…Put a good bit of lead down range re-zeroing and chronographing some loads for hunting season in different rifles And making sure the load stays together with the weather cooling off. The Garmin never missed a shot. 100% suppressed shooting. 👍🏼

I didn’t take any pictures of the @christensenarms Ridgeline FFT 20” 7mm-08 with the new Berger 175 Elite Hunter & StaBall 6.5 load. But it’s rocketing those heavies at a massively impressive 2,636 FPS! It hits HARD at 200 yards. They have a full size 1/2” plate steel deer with a heart “flapper” at 200, and it was slapping that heart all the way up and hitting the backside of the deer target. It’s going to be a beast for whitetails.

@christensenarms Ridgeline 24” .280 Ackley with the TBAC Magnus is running the Berger 175 Elites at a multi-session average of 2,741.5 FPS.

The old R700 5R .260 was pumping the 140 Nosler CC load at 2,681 FPS.

Any Hide vendors have them in stock? Or any vendors at all for that matter?
Bass pro is trickling them out as mentioned below your post. Snagged one Thursday night, shipped Friday, and will be here tomorrow while I’m at work 🙃

Yes, I can’t stand that turd, And neither can lots of people. And yes, it’s personal, and goes back 10-15 years. And no, I won’t go into it on here and mess up this thread with it.

There's always going to be people who don't like someone. That's just life.

And as with anyone who performs any task at a very high level, they are going to be pretty confident and borderline arrogant. That will also rub some the wrong way. He's also a businessman that looks out for himself and his business.

On the technical/testing side, his "tests" aren't even close to using the scientific method model, so that's going to rub people the wrong way who want to see "proper" testing. And a lot of his statements/methods contradict one another. Such as shooting small groups at 100, but then claiming positive compensation at 1k, which should open the groups larger at 100 than he demonstrates.

He's a very good F Open shooter and good at running his business/podcasts. But he's far from perfect and there will always be people that dislike someone no matter what or look to find those imperfections. And it's very tough to go through life without making some enemies because of stupid decisions you've made.

I personally like Erik overall and enjoy catching up with him when our paths cross a few times a year.

Got mine on Wed, it sure is small. Took it out today and shot my .22 in an orchard out of town. Registered every shot, put it on a nicer desktop tripod I already had for other photo work. This is far better than my magnetospeed or the lab radar I borrowed from a friend and couldn't ever get consistent readings.

Comparing to a full 3D tracking radar is kind of unfair! ;)
We have one of the Weibel velocity radars at work, too bad the Xero C1 is not yet available in Europe.

Yeah, that's what we're using it for. If I ever buy one of the Xeros, I'll try to compare it.
Oh wow, that's awesome man. We would all be drooling over that kind of a test and information here. Probably still have one guy who would argue that the test wasn't sufficient in some way but the other 200k of us would love it!!! If it wasn't quite such a long trip I'd even send you mine so you could compare it. That would be so cool.

Bass Pro has been releasing them on-line sporadically. I ordered one Friday and it will be here in VA Tuesday.
Picking mine up this week, too, so you won't be the only one on Range 4 with the latest and greatest, sir. :)

Not sure if it was posted before but Unknown Munitions is making a nice little aluminum Arca rail for the Xero. Should make it very easy to mount however you like - on a tripod, on a rifle, etc.

This is very close to the setup I went with. I just found a mini, half height rail in my spare parts - came with a mini-ball head at one point.

This one is better with the ridges for anti-rotation. Although, I have found mine with the right torque isn't going anywhere.

I'd get one of these, but the $50 with shipping was too much for me.

This will be my kit until more 160mm Nodal rails come back in stock. I'm going to remove the arca clamp off the top the ball head and install one the qd bases from the plate kit to make Tripod even lower profile folded to get into the evergreen 57 case. Once I get my nodal rail, I'll attach the other qd base to it via the 1/4-20 screw. No clamps just a simple push button release that has a locking feature for security under recoil once mounted on rifle.

Same tripod I have for general range accessory use in my range bag. I use it for a wind meter, I have a phone holder for it for ballisitics and other apps, a cradle for my range finder, and now I use it for the Xero as well.

It's a nice tripod for this use case, it's compact, light, flexible deployment options, etc. Should be around 50 bucks. Way better than the one that came with the unit, not a RRS, but really this is more than sufficient for any of the needs I have for the Xero on a mini-tripod.

Can anyone measure the length and diameter of the folded up original tripod?
I'm guessing 4.25" and 1.25" but checking to see if it would fit in a Evergreen 56.
Thanks in advance.
