Someone stalking my onlyfans I see 😂

Seriously, I have no idea how it came through so fast. It’s on a pretty standard trust, just me as the trustee and it’s one I have used for several other cans/SBRs that are long approved.
I still have a couple more stamps in the pipeline… I don’t want to look the gift horse in the mouth but I guess they didn’t get batched.

Ok, excuse my ignorance here..first can and went through SilencerShop.

Bought it/filled out all of the paperwork 3/29/2023.
Certified Form 4 online with Dealer on 11/9/2023.

Email came back from SilencerShop on 11/9 that Trust was completed
Email from ATF on 11/9 that Form 4 was submitted

~7 months (231 days) from purchase and forms until Form 4 certified/submitted. Do I have to wait another 5-8 months for the Form 4 to be approved and actually get the can?

Yes. The actual wait everyone is discussing here is from the day your can is submitted.

Why did it take 7 months just to certify? The atf clock doesn’t start until things are certified so yes your wait has just started.

Beats the fuck out of me. Just got the email last week that it was ready. I had everything completed on my end.

Based on what I understood about this process I thought my wait had just started, but was hoping I was wrong since I already fuckin waited 7 months.

Did Silencershop or my dealer drop the ball on this?

You got yourself a shitty lazy dealer… Certification is on the dealer’s end, not SS. Use a new dealer for your next can.

I would call SS or visit your dealer and ask WTF the hold up was.

It's been 5 or 6 years since I did my Trust, so things may have changed. When I did my Trust, I did it through a local FFL that was also a lawyer. Took maybe a week. Then I filed the Form 4 on the can that I purchased. Approval was 8 or 9 months.

So, call it 9 months plus one week for me to have the approved form 4/Stamp and can in hand.

I don't go through the Trust since ATF got rid of the local LEO signoff requirement. Unless you're doing things for Estate planning reasons, there's no need to go through the Trust for new purchases. Just go Form 4.

Dealer. They should have done their part to trigger the "ready to certify " email and if something went wrong, corrected it in a reasonable amount of time and told you that you need to call and do the certification online with them. That's absolutely pathetic . Of course, I wouldn't push too hard until you get the can at this point, but I damn sure would not use them again and I'd let SS know about it too!

Huh? Whether you file as a Trust or Individual, its all a form 4...

Thats true but surely everyone will want their cans to be able to go to someone else they care about when they die though right ? I've always done a trust from day one but I'm pretty sure they can also be moved into a trust but that may require another stamp, though you'd at least have the can already so it's just an additional cost issue. My understanding is that if they aren't in a trust, they can't go anywhere when you die accept the atf

And in my case, my son, wife, brother, etc can all use the NFA items if they are added in. Makes them more useful

If I wasn't totally ignorant to the process I would have bounced them in April. Had no idea what was going on apparently.

I thought the whole process was "easy". Just wait for SS or the dealer to tell you when you have to do something!

I do, but your last part said just go Form 4. I file as a trust and I think they only send a notice to your local LEO, no signoff needed today.
Right. I only did my Trust back then to dodge the LEO signoff. They were becoming very hard to get here in the state of warshington. Once the LEO signoff went away, I quit using my Trust.

Well that is the process, but it's your dealer, not SS. The dealer should have told you the process #1, so that you'd know to call them and check in if you didn't get that email for it being ready to certify. Then you'd have known to call them.

If you knew the process, the dealer wouldn't have to keep up with it because you would, which is how most do it because it's pretty hard to keep up with all the different steps for every person and every can. Of course, THIS IS WHY LEGIT DEALERS ALWAYS SAY "give us a few weeks, if you don't see an email that says "ready to certify" then call us and ask about it. This is the key and where the ball got dropped.

Date of certification is considered Day 1.

If you are going to use a trust, certification can't happen until the trust is done as the trust will be the owner of said item. You must have an ATF account set up also. I would think that you should contact the dealer (SS) for an explanation of why it took 7 months to set up the trust. I am not a fan of SS, but this lag time is highly unusual.

I clearly don't know jack shit about this, but the email saying the trust (single shot) was complete didn't come through until after form 4 was certified. Like almost immediately after, like they were waiting on certification to complete it.

ATF account was set up back in March.

Certified on 5/29

169 days which is a new record.

Each successive suppressor has been approved more quickly than the last. Spotting a trend and an impetus to buy more suppressors. Might as well order up a new 5.56 can since it'll get approved long before Dead Air fixes my Sierra 5! I'm taking bets.

Yeah, I own 11 cans, and got them all through SS, half paper forms, and half eForms... So, I'm well-versed in how it works the old way and the electronic way...

The longest I've waited for a Single-Shot Trust to get drawn-up and ready to certify was maybe 2 business days...Maybe 3 at the very most if they got super busy. After that point, it's all on the dealer to get the shit done and certified.

Also, he didn't say it took 7 months to setup the trust, he said it took 7 months to certify. Big difference. Had it been 7 months to setup the Trust, then yes, it would be on Silencer Shop to explain that, but being as to how he said it was 7 months to certify the Trust, then THAT is on his local dealer that he selected to have the can Form 3'd to.

That normally is how it goes... Buy it, DocuSign your Trust, Certify it, then you wait until you get your email from the ATF saying that the status has changed from "PENDING" to "APPROVED", and you can go pick it up. And if you have a good dealer, they will call you when that email comes in, because it is sent to you AND the dealer simultaneously. It's that simple.

Yes, that is your finalized copy of your Trust...The one that has been DocuSigned by you, and was sent to the ATF for approval during your Certification process.

But prior to that happening, when you first bought the can, you should have had to do a DocuSign that was sent to you via email from Silencer Shop. This is where you first sign your Trust paperwork, where SS gets it all ready to be sent off, and then once it's complete, they put it into the dealer portal (the dealer only part of their website), where your dealer can then certify it with you, which is where you submit it to the ATF.

About the time you think you have figured it out.......Nothing they do seems to be by rhyme or reason. eForms was supposed to only take 60 days.. 2 years ago next month. Sit back, go shooting and forget about it

I logged into my atf account today for the first time since july. There were some updates, one of which pertained to tax return. Anyone else have those updates or is it across the board for everyone?
