And here i had you pegged as a matching Sitka gear kind of guy. 🤣🤣🤣

It's funny how easy it is to spot out of state hunters in CO.

Hey, I have a camo pile jacket! My wife got it at a yard sale for $3 and when I wear it to work, it makes my coworkers nervous.

So I wear it to work all winter long.

------------------------------------------------

I haven't bow hunted in a long time, being lazy and complacent. But when I did, I didn't use camo. I just used the force: "This isn't the bow hunter you're watching for..."

I'm positive that you will never, ever forget that moment and that day.
Thank you for posting that.

I am amused that some people on this forum exhibit how little they know about how rifles, scopes and bullets actually work then at the same time, they think they are qualified to offer forensic analysis of the first ever examples of commercial airliners crashing into tall buildings at 500kts.

I am 100% convinced our government is deceptive, coercive, manipulating, self serving and evil.
They in some way are likely complicit or at least negligent in the 9/11 events but people I know that were at the Pentagon and Lower Manhattan leave no doubt that big ass planes full of people were flown into big ass buildings full of people that day.
.

Problem with that strategy is transmitting signals back to earth. Most radio waves have a tough time passing through solids and liquids. Apparently there’s secret squirrel tech that nuke subs use to transmit while submerged, but i don’t know the first thing about it or the general physics behind radio. I’m dumb as hell. ELF/VLF/ULF......

Jim Creek is within about 15 miles of us. Whidbey NAS is 5 miles as the crow flies in the other direction from us. So, if things get sporty, Im'a gonna be a crispy critter....

Yesterday was a great day in retirement. A cloudy, damp, dreary 37 degree day here in WI. No reason to stay inside, so I decided to go squirrel hunting. It was quiet, almost surreal, in the woods. The squirrels were not very active, so I snuck around and sat around for about 4-1/2 hours to get the limit. That was the first time in 42 years that I didn't have to be somewhere, or be doing something else, when I went on a squirrel hunt. No time limit, no worries, no thoughts of work...a great day!
Hell yeah, my retirement started last week. Tonight my excited wife decided we need a game night with friends. She retired 18 months ago and has been looking forward to my retirement ever since. I went shooting four times in the last week, it is awesome.

Enjoy your retirement. You're in transition, the months where you adapt to the new normal. Soon you will be burdened with trying to figure out how you ever had the time to have a job. But you will still really, really enjoy retirement.

Congratulations,
MrSmith

Since retiring a long time ago, yes I’m very old, I have either gone shooting, fishing or hunting at least four day out of the week. The best part is you don’t have to go on weekends when places are more crowded. Enjoy your retirement, looks like you’re off to a great start.

+ 5 Saturdays and 1 Sunday and one floating day off.
- Everybody thinks you don’t have shit to do and wants help doing this or that, or can you volunteer for this “job” nobody else wants to do.
* floating day off. “Why do I need a floating day off if I’m retired?” Simple. Say you decide to mow the lawn or paint the bathroom tomorrow. You wake up and decide “It’s a nice day to go fishing…” Floating Day Off.

The best hunters I knew as a kid were farmers who could sneak up to bow shot on a deer wearing wrangler jeans and a flannel shirt.

Yep, before the '80s the only people I ever saw in camo were airmen from the local airbase but not hunting.

Even in the '80s it was only the gear junkies who had a hard time getting limits I ever saw in camo.

This year I'm inventing fishing camo for people who can't catch anything.

Wow, that's a memory! What I recall about it is that it was produced by Arthur Clokey (among others), the same person who created "Gumby and Pokey (Rhymes with 'Clokey')." Believe it or not, Arthur was the "adopted" son of one Joseph W. Clokey an organist and church musician. Joseph Clokey composed and arranged a cover of one of my most favorite pieces of church choir music I ever sang as a trebble... the popular piece "Te Deum Laudamus," ("We Praise the, Oh God"). In fact, when we'd sing this particular cover (there were other covers of it we sang), it was usually the last service of the year in June before the choir went on "summer vacation." It would be our "gradual" before we sang our "anthem" which was, usually "In the Year that King Euziah Died" (we affectionately called it "King Fuzzy").

The following is the closest video I could find to a choir that sings the Clokey cover of "Te Deum" (and, of course, we called it, affectionately, "TDM"). It was done by the Riverside church on 11/2021. But it appears to be altered from the way my church choir (men and boys only) would sing it, as follows:

  1. We sang it at twice the tempo you hear it here (as we did most anthems - to keep elapsed time down on the service itself)
  2. The chimes you hear at the end are real, but ours were 1 octave higher than what you hear on the video.
  3. The lyrics here appeared to have been "Wokeified." Substituting "Creator" for "Father," "Us" for "Man," etc. etc.

I am in a city now and have to endure businessmen explaining how they paid to hunt and got this or that with pictures.
The places they go feed the animals that are bred for bigger racks and pay to shoot while others, guide, track and clean the kills. Pathetic, hunting in a petting zoo and can't even process the kill.

I was at a local taxidermist one day, he used to raise giant bucks for ranches. He was getting out of the biz and had 1 buck left in his pen, a huge 27 point non-typical. Said he'd charge a ranch $10k for it, offered to let me go shoot it, in the pen, for $5k, including mounting it for me. No, I didn't take him up on it. 😐

But Sir, based on your myriad other post, shouldn’t you teach your homies how?😎

I'm actually talking about an old boss, a white privileged wanker that drove a Ford Shelby F-150 company truck (daddy was CEO). He is a die hard Trumper, goes to country bars to cheat on his wife who he met cheating on his previous wife. No, these people are not my homies. I was an employee then and am a business consultant now. Most of my clients are fortune 500 companies and I meet all types. Some great people, some are real hunters, but also some privileged wankers. I don't make friends with clients and none of my friends would pay for a hunt like that even if they could afford it.

And just because I don't engage the people that trash me for not being a Trumper, the guesses are almost all wrong. I have no homies.
I am a registered Republican although I don't vote blindly. Both my wife and I are white working middle class and do not agree with 90% of the far left BS, we also don't agree with 80% of the far right BS. I am a libertarian- don't like gay marriage, don't do it, don't want an abortion, don't get one, but don't force your opinions on others. And before someone screams abortion is murder, the world agrees murder is murder, abortion is 50/50 making it an opinion.
And Trump lost the election, everyone without blinders on knows it. If you elect someone who broke laws to stay in power again, he will spend his next 4 years becoming a director. I'm no fascist and will not vote for him. But that doesn't make me a Biden fan, I think Niki is the best bet for American right now.

Imagine, if you will;

A world where those rich city boys got to pay dearly to dress up and go out on the city streets and claim trophy criminals to have mounted on their office walls.

Imagine the holiday party conversations.

What criminals? The politicians that commit felonies? Maybe. The Jan 6th rioters that were duped and are more victims than career criminals? Not so much. How about all the jocks that beat wives, fight dogs and get busted on drug and assault charges? That sounds more sporting. And why do the rich wankers get to do the hunting?

How about we just drop the rich wankers into deep forest with a gun and no guide to see how they do without food for a month.

I was thinking of the street thugs who are past saving and the only way to stop them is to mount them to the wall.

So, Yes politicians, felonies or not, would be included.
