Here is a link to the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic hearing on “Assessing America’s Vaccine Safety Systems.” It’s almost three hours long. It starts at about 17 minutes. I haven't had time to watch it all yet.
What bothers me is that the committee chairman acts as though the Covid shot is safe and effective. IMHO, he's starting the hearing with an unproven and debatable premise.
IMHO he and the ranking member are more concerned with restoring public confidence in vaccines. That's all well and good assuming that the vaccines are, indeed, safe. Call me skeptical.

I don't remember it that way, I remember govt mandate being discussed but never actually went into effect and it was all company policy to mandate it. But I am old and my memory isn't that great anymore

Pretty much anyone with a government contract was required to show proof of their entire staff’s vaccination by late 2021 or early 2022 otherwise contracts would be cancelled. On my ~60 person program only one person ended up not vaxxing and he waited as long as he could up to the day he would be terminated. Based on the stay issued to the Biden admin then, the company paused further enforcement and he wasn’t let go.
Let that show you when threatened with their livelihoods, 99% of people will bow to the king. I don’t blame anyone for it either, they got me too.

The only mandate that had any real teeth behind it was the federal employee mandate. The contractor and other mandates were illegal from the onset and got shot down fast as fuck in the courts.
The feds called my company (Class I railroad) contractors because we haul federal freight at times without having a contract to do so, they're just another customer, but of course management caved and complied with the "We're all in this together" mantra. They offered us a few hundred dollars and a day off to get the vax. I told them my antibodies and health were worth a whole lot more than that, including the nice paychecks they pay me, and never got shit.
I was far from alone in doing this, and at the time the company was giving hand jobs around the corner just trying to get people to hire on, 18% yearly resignation attrition on top of retirements and a hiring freeze through early covid gutted our ranks while a two year apprenticeship means it takes a long time to replace manpower. Of course, I'm still working there because I knew ASGH, the issue was quietly dropped with the same line "We didn't mean to try to make you do something you didn't want to do, we're still friends, right?" It's no coincidence it coincided with us also voting to go on strike at the same time...
The companies begging for people they fired to come back is hilarious and shameful, that letter passing the buck to the government making the calls like they had nothing to do with those decisions is .
