The recent Riyadh negotiations also had elements of trade between Russia and the US within its discussions. This could be an important move as it MAY be an attempt to move Russia away from China. Or pull an adversary closer economically where possible in order to make future conflict a harder decision. If Trump were to get a negotiated settlement of Ukraine and also give Russia some equitable trade that increases the GDP of both countries that may prove beneficial to all involved. We will never fully trust each other and there is still the rather huge issue of the arctic, but if meaningful mutual trade between military peers becomes the foundation that keeps conflict to a minimum that would be a logical path forward.
How China ultimately reacts is the wildcard. But that will have to come out in time and probably only if there exists a trade that impacts their GDP or international goals meaningfully.
