Sig P320 Paranoia Setting in.

Drop safe is a requirement for the military and virtually all police departments. A 2011 has nothing to do with this.

They either lied about the drop testing or (most likely) didnt perform the testing and pencil whipped it.

Glock was beating Sig in the MHS trials so they halted the testing and said good enough, and then awarded based on LPTA.

People should be in jail for that but those 6 figure retirement jobs are tempting.
Exactly what happened.

No I just said it. Sorry you’re a fudd that needs a safety switch.
I thought you were just a moron getting all your opinions from the gun store, but you’re fucking next level. Now I’m pretty fuckin sure you’re an employee and work the counter at the gun store.

I used to think Mas Ayobe (however you spell it) was a fucking moron, but when considering the public, and all the non-gun/afraid-of-guns people what he says suddenly makes sense.

We can’t all be bad ass operators like you who stack bodies like cordwood. Some people need a manual safety, because pistols are not their hobby, they are not going to train day and night, in the freezing cold and burning heat, on the top of mountains and at the bottom of the sea, like you, and they just aren’t as physically and mentally as awesome as you are Ace. Most people are fat slob fucking idiots, and a manual safety will probably save them from themselves. They are in far more danger of an ND than a safety when attacked. The problem is that terminators like you convince them that unless they’re carrying for combat they’re pussies. So you sell them a Glock and they don’t practice, and their stupid booger hook shoots themselves or someone they love. Nice job. Good gun storeing. Have an extra whole pizza for lunch to reward yourself.

I can’t even imagine all your YouTube senseis who give you your opinions. When I picture you it’s a cross between Stephen Segal and Claude VanDam.

Wow! You’re hilarious! Oh yeah, and you couldn’t be more wrong about me and gun stores and larping, but that’s ok. I guess I found your hot button. Of course this is the pit, so irrational conclusions are to be expected. Also, you still haven’t shown me how a manual safety makes someone more or less likely to shoot themselves. In training I’ve seen countless noobs that FORGET there is a safety or a de-cocker on their pistol over and over. It’s not exactly more safe, and it can actually pose another safety risk. Also, most of the people that get shot seem to be the ones trying to play John wick or some such idiocy. Point being-just because they have a safety but they don’t train-that safety is going to do them zero good if they don’t have the basic fundamental of keeping their finger off the trigger. If their brain can’t get that fundamental correct, then you and everyone around is going to trust that they will just automatically hit the safety switch?

There’s a pretty prolific poster here somewhere that brags about having a 1911 style safety installed on his striker fired pistol (maybe Glock, can’t remember, don’t care enough to search).

For my money, I shoot a 2011 in USPSA (not fast, but I’m there) and have a CZ nocturne (decocker) for carry.

Yes sir. And the guys like you didn’t choose a 2011 JUST because it has a safety. You chose that pistol because it’s an awesome pistol for competing and the cz is awesome for carry. You know it has a safety, so you train with it and you obviously aren’t relying on it to keep you from shooting yourself cause if you compete you are training to be safe

So essentially in the P365 (manual safety) it seems Sig understood the "P320 problem" and quietly put a proper actual real working safety into the manual safety versions?

Which might be a reason to pick the Safety versions of the P365 over the standard versions.
But the Safety on the P320 MS / M17 / M18 essentially doesn't do anything but keep you from actually pulling the trigger.
Yes, if one "likes" safeties. The 365 has a more traditional striker safety plunger set up, compared to the 320. The 365 has more engagement/overlap of striker/striker safety than the miniscule amount of the 320. Also, the 365 uses a traditional coil spring on striker safety, compared to weak leaf spring on 320 striker safety. Combine that with the completely reworked fcu of the 365, and not sure if safety is needed. I'm a glock guy through and through, well shadow system and zev oz9 but still have a 19x and 49 glock. I also bought a 365 3.1" to run a macro grip and radian comp on. It's been boringly safe and reliable for 900rds of testing(not a lot, admittedly). Only issue I've had was a couple light strikes on reloads that had some 2020 made primers that were foreign and marked "small pistol, small revolver, and small rifle", but a glock did fire the ones that failed to fire in the 365. I did order a +20%striker spring for the 365, I doubt it changes trigger pull much, as it's a fully cocked striker system.

Clearly you are not just an expert, but an advanced combat firearms instructor/IDPA champion who trains the tip of the spear when you’re not caressing your Glock behind the counter and dreaming of shooting people.

Most people don’t shoot pistols as a hobby. Most don’t have a sidearm for work. You are in a tiny category of people if you do or compete. It’s a very small community.

I don’t really disagree with you, and both my edc’s have no manual safety. My BBQ pistols do, and they are not “more dangerous”, nor am I unarmed when open carry their engravy ivorynesss in tooled leather holsters…

However, you have:

giphy.gif

You are such a deuschbag that I think I’ll keep telling everyone how awesome you are till I get board. Of course, you’re already backpedaling which shortens my already short attention span. I thought only Fudds liked a manual safety? Now there are actual gun people who shoot competitively who like them? I’m starting to be confused, but I am listening to the master, and I want to learn. The problem is clearly me and not you, because how could it be you? It just couldn’t! Not possible.

Of course with all this back and forth derision or championing of manual safety levers and such, I like sometimes totally astounding the minds of haters of safeties by suggesting the even more bestest thing is going with the good old German belt and suspenders approach and carrying one of the pistols that can be both decocked AND have manual safety switched on at the same time HA!

That usually totally gets some folks in a confused head spin of how is that even possible HA!
Decocked AND on safety? That like defies the laws of mechanics HA!

The upside, if someone grabs your gun or a kid picks it up while you were an idiot and distracted, you could probably get it back and/or beat them over the head before they figured it out. The downside... well the reverse could happen to you if you forget in the heat of the moment...
(As shown in the movie Series 7 the contenders).

True, same as with anything. Most of us are joes who have jobs and work, and don't have time to practice and train to actually get good enough to beat those who do, or those who are lucky sperm club and just have gobs of natural talent.

Such as it is, I really enjoy competing in gun sports/games and do so as time allows, knowing I'm never going to be the best or a champ. I am totally and completely ok at that. The only thing I need to consistently win at is being a father, husband, brother, son, and friend.

Even more astounding is the magazine safety on a Browning High Power (HP-35), cuz if someone stealz yer gun, in kundishun wun yu ken drop da mag, and den use yer Krav Muguh on em!
In an effort to keep @Mike Casselton entertained...

The Hi-Power is a superior platform to the P320 in just about every respect. For those that can't tacticool reload without a flared mag well, Apex Tactical has you covered. The Hi-Power should have gotten the push the 2011 got.

In fact, real men shoot Hi-Powers while 2011s are big with the 🏳️‍🌈 coalition.

Discuss.

What kind of pistol ammo are you recommending to all your Navy Seal customers who come in the store and want to learn to stak 'em like you can? Drillz? Experimental rounds of your own design?
guardian-of-the-galaxy-raccoon.gif

I'll bet you recommend only the most "controversial" ammo!

Supa Killa Hand Gun Ammunition
Beats me. I just carry whatever hollow points happen to be a decent deal. I just sell concrete, I don’t get controversial…

Sounds to me like @Mike Casselton needs to get a job or a hobbie🤣

Job? WTF is that? I'm retired. Fuckabunchashitlikethat.

My buddy will be opening a new range nearby to replace JTAC. I did help lay out the run and gun berms last week.

Does that count as a hobby or a job?

Yer just a lowly fudd like me.

Not near enough. And my bench press is too low. The range thing can’t be work, so it must be a hobby. Looks really awesome, btw

It should turn out pretty good when it's done.
The adjoining property will get us out to a mile. Can't wait to start on that section.

You've got quite the natural shooting range all around you.

I really miss Idaho

This is a retarded conversation. How many NDs are there every day? How many are from a 320? How many of those 320s have been modified? How many of those 320s are carried in a holster that is either not properly adjusted or not intended for use with the 320? Nobody fucking knows. Anecdotes and consensus on social media - where profit is a function of views and not truth or accuracy - are not science. The fact that Sig is updating their literature means jack shit. That's their lawyers. There's blood in the water so they're playing CYA. Juries love fucking big companies and they especially love fucking gun companies.

I dream of shooting at a mile. Yeah it’s pretty awesome here. Makinchips208 and I just found a good spot 15 minutes behind my house that gets us an easy 1,000. We are scouting it a little more to see if we can get 1 mile.

Going from memory here.

Years ago the Yamaha Road Star (carb model not the Warrior) had a fatal flaw. Having been out since 1999, somewhere around 2003 there were reports of crashes due to a mechanical failure.

Apparently, there was a clip inside the transmission that would break without warning. This would cause the transmission to freeze up at highways speeds, completely locking up the rear wheel. Pulling in the clutch had no effect. In 2004 the problem was fixed with a major model upgrade, but that left thousands upon thousands of these 2003 and earlier “ticking time bombs” rolling our highways.

People on the forums were hot about this. Yamaha was indifferent. This went on for a few years. They even got Senator “Nighthorse”Campbell of Colorado involved. I had an opportunity to thank him personally when I met him at a rally.

As Yamaha remained in denial, and the fight dragged on, some owners/members of the forums started to complain and attack the people leading this battle. They were upset that the resale value of their motorcycles was being diminished…..🙄 Yamaha dealerships were telling everyone that it was a made-up story. The problem absolutely did not exist, they said.

Yamaha finally capitulated and did a massive recall on these motorcycles, acknowledging the problem. To this day if you have one of these motorcycles and you run the VIN number, you can find out if the recall was done and I believe they are still fixing them. This involves spitting the motor, which is a major job.

At the time they started doing this they had a Yamaha line of performance mods for these bikes, including some high compression pistons. They offered to install the high compression pistons while the motor was apart and only charge for the parts. Labor would be free. This was a small offer to assuage people who had to have their bike torn down and in the shop for who knows how long.

I put together a turn-key high performance flat side carburetor setup for these bikes. When somebody contacts me with a 2003 and older I have to figure out if they have high compression pistons or not. Most of them are not the original owner and don’t have a clue. Often the 2nd or 3rd owner has no idea if the recall was done and that they might be driving a “ticking time bomb” 💣 . I advise them to run the vin.

We had tons of places down by mountain home, but I wasn't doing that type of shooting back then. We concentrated on whistle pigs, coyotes, Columbian ground squirrels and rock chucks.

It's actually comical to point out a 1 mile or longer berm to someone.
Most don't believe how far it actually is.

Have you considered checking out the open grass lands in Eastern OR/WA?

I have considered it. I’ve also considered talking to some of the farmers/ranchers on the camas prairie. I’ll have to look at the Washington idea a little more.

Makes me think of the story of Walter Kaaden designing an expansion chamber exhaust pipe using knowledge gained from the V-1 buzz bombs pulse jet engine, a program he worked on. They East Germans were cleaning up the post war racing competition until Ernest Degner worked a deal with Suzuki to steal the design and crossed the Berlin wall with it from east into West Germany.

While the story is interesting one of the issues was at higher RPM, I believe above 10,500 the pulse reversion would begin to lean out the mixture, causing the cylinder and piston to get hot and it would lock up, causing the rear tire to lock up, most people couldn’t catch it and would end up crashing when the tire locked up at generally high triple digit speeds. They were fast as hell, but killed and injured a lot of people.

Wow, I'm late to the 320 party I see. Good thing, I don't own one :). But I do have a 2020'ish 365. Seems well made and properly designed. I just couldn't do a Springfield at the time due to their politics at the time. Trigger decent for what it is (though it does have a "twang" to it). No safety here. I'd have had an HK, but...they didn't come out till what, last year? And betrayed us faithful...with NO F'ING PADDLE!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd have tossed that 365 quicker than a small town cop eats donuts at his local had it had the paddle.

It's hard to believe all the crap on the 320. But, too much smoke to not have fire.
