If THE bill passes… what semi-auto shotgun for SBS?

I don't really know anything about shotguns but if I were going to have a semi-auto SBS, I think I'd want something that fed from a box magazine as opposed to a tube... That I assume is also going to be short AF now. No idea if someone makes a decent one of those or not.

Imma keep use dis:

Belt-fed 12 ga. is more gooder!

Box mags and shotguns.. the mags are either HUGE, or, unreliable as hell. I get it but ehh I’d be looking for something that just used a conventional tube mag, if it held 5, 2 3/4” shells I’d be happy.

Get a Beretta 1301 and cut the barrel flush with the mag tube.
Since that’s a gas operated shotgun, any idea how chopping down its barrel would affect it? Obviously dwell time is going to drop way off… this is why I’m asking I’m not sure what can be realistically used, like which models… also 1301 while epic, $$… maybe A300?

You want a 1301 or A400 to get the blink system. It's stupid fast and completely reliable.

SBS seems goofy to me, but my mag tube is longer than the 26" barrel on my "tactical" shotgun.

Affordable is pretty vague, leave a lot to interpretation. :ROFLMAO:
Fair, some of y’all make big money. Or are single with few things drawing on your income.

Sub $900 shotgun ideally in my case, as I’m going to take the barrel to work and put it in a lathe and cut it to the length I want…

I got an old 11-87 Premier but I’m not sure how well it would like having the barrel cut down…might turn into a high brass buck and slug gun only if I take off to much.

Is there any way to know how to calculate the minimum gas port dwell time needed for a given design that’s gas operated?

Have an 18" M1 Benelli with a 1 shot mag extension. A 14" barrel, that Benelli makes fits it just about perfect. Used to see 14 inchers on GB for 200, sometimes less. But that will damn sure change when so many will want one.

I could get more excited if I could legally put a good butt stock on an AR pistol.

I like the little sorta shotguns for this role. Just drop a stock on and done, no barrel cutting or anything like that.

Rem tac 13 was very nice, but seems like they are hard to find now for some reason.

Mossberg makes their pump ones, shockwave and a newer semi auto supposedly based on their 940 I think? It's called the aftershock and runs about 1000 , and gives you lots of stock options.

Iwi makes the mafteah now, but I'm not sure about a turnkey stock for it. About 1000 on those too.

The semi auto sorta shotguns are very cool since so much less recoil than pump versions. You can actually shoot them well and not be miserable.

Benelli m4 comes in a 14 inch version... I like it a lot but price is 2k plus.

Where it gets really interesting is if barrel length no longer matters, could see some cool new stuff come out. Shorter barrels and maybe a way to get more shells with a 10 inch barrel. Box mag, dual tube, tubes feeding from stock etc.

Everything that,.... Needs Done, via a sbs can be done very quickly with a 37 Ithaca, or side by side. Yes the Ithaca is a pump, but its a very fast pump.

I'd not get my hopes up, though,...
I have a model 37, 20ga my grandpa put a deer slayer barrel on it (slug) but the receiver was the ultra featherlight, barrel is black but the receiver a deep bluing with ducks… but boy does she work!

I like the look of the aftershock a lot, not toooo far past what I was looking to spend… would just need a stock and some. So that’s a contender thanks for posting.

I didn’t know IWI made this! Oooo ima have to look one up and maybe save up.
I have one. It's pretty sweet. You can load the tubes with different shells if you wanted. I have two tubes loaded with 00 buck and one tube with slugs. 15 rounds ready to rock n roll and very compact. I actually sold my benelli m4 after i got the IWI.

Big fan of the overly plain 11-87 Police model. I'd consider a 14" or less, particularly plus some suppression, absent further regulation.

"It cycles so much slower than a Benelli/Beretta!"

You can only put 2-3 rds of lead on target per second 🤠 but your shoulder will thank you in the morning.

Pro tip - you can replace that stupid lifter with the button for an 870 lifter, even swap, you get rid of the button and give up lock back on empty - but - acceptable trade.

I have one of these. Almost 300 rounds through it and not one malfunction. It's legit awesome. The Boss 25 I stick it in was only $50 more. And the really big rediculous looking stick mags with 3 sections have to be put together at home now, I couldn't find anybody who made them, and yes they are hard to make reliable. But they can be after you mess with them and tune them enough.

Like the title asks, what’s a affordable, reliable, not Turkey made semi auto shotgun for turning into a SBS if the bill passes with the short act still in tact?

Not to pour cold water on everyone's dreams, but as of this morning, the Parliamentarian removed both the HPA and SHORT act as being "not in compliance with the Byrd Rule." SHOCKER... I know. So the OBBB may pass, but without those two provisions. We'll see if she gets overridden either before the bill passes, or if it can be fixed in conference. Thune has already stated he won't fire or overrule the Parliamentarian, so we'll have to see.

Apparently they’re going to try to remove that witch for this.

Well, surprise! They voted against it. None of went through! I bet that land grab did tho. JD Vance could have voted as well as a couple others but they did not. It’s all a game. You aren’t represented and haven’t been for I don’t even know how long.

do you have to wait till the bill passes because you live in a ban state? If I were going to do a SBS, I'd probably consult with Cotton Branch on a build. He used to be active on instagram but I think it all got the ZUC.. You can search the Hide for his work.
