He did what liberals won't do, have a discussion with the opposition. If you're upset because Shawn Ryan had a discussion with the opposition, then you're no better than the opposition. Do you propose that we silence left leaning voices the same way they did with conservatives in the last decade? If you do, then you can't complain when the pendulum swings the other way in a future election, and they do the same thing all over again.
Tucker Carlson interviewed the president of Iran. The iranian president was clearly out of his element, and did a piss poor job of explaining away what "they really mean when they say death to America". I'm also making the assumption that the translater was accurate and not re-wording responses. It wasn't about platforming a bad man, it was like showing the emporer has no clothes. Most people have a moderately functioning bullshit meter, and if they listen to someone spouting bullshit, they know it's bullshit, and aren't swayed by it.
What if the Shawn Ryan show had managed to complete a long form interview with kamala prior to the election much like they did with Trump, would you still have lost respect for him for interviewing her?
Shawn Ryan basically did the next step of what Joe Rogan was doing. Joe interviewed comedians, fighters, people in the public eye that people would want to know more about. Shawn went one step further, and started talking to people that know the things that the tinfoil hat wearers talk about, then he stepped it up even more. This is why his show is popular, because he was the OG that started doing it. There are a bunch of other lesser known podcasters that have copied the playbook and are trying to do the same thing. The long form podcast is here to stay, and it's going to grow in popularity as people get to get a lot more questions, responses, and insight into people, projects, ideas, and concepts. They hate how the mainstream condenses a 60min interview into a few soundbites that they alone use to alter the perception of the interviewee.
I just think you're making a mistake to pull admiration and respect for someone because they interviewed someone you didn't like. Just don't listen to it, it's that easy.
