Yeah, GBL is a keeper. Its not ultra tight shooting, but getting 3 rounds in a decent 100Y group off the side of a pack and a rear bag with a shit trigger is good enough to keep messing with.
Recoil with 325 Leverevolution and hybrid 46 was about like a 308 w/o brake or can. Very manageable.

Get a 357, you’ll thank me later and so will your bank account when you have to feed it.
For around here a 45-70 won’t do anything a 357 won’t except for remove steel targets from their mounting at close range with stout loads. It’s a lot more fun to shoot, trajectory is similar and you can buy ammo for $.50-$.60/rd.

They’ve been listing some but most are Remington made ones that should be avoided like the plague.
The new Ruger guns are the shit. My 357 classic and 44 SBL shoot groups like a really good bolt gun and the fit and finish is better than anything Marlin or Remington made. I’ve got a 45-70 trapper as well that I had to have a few months back that I haven’t shot yet.

Made the trade. Marlin model 30AW. JM stamped. Other than being zeroed, I dont think it was even used. Now to get a can on it.
Sadly, I got it with that very intention. This will replace my 300 blackout. It may get the full modern treatment eventually.
Cycle it with a good gun lube a couple times. Maybe make sure the bolt is clean and free of any junk.
I did a Rossi m92, started by oiling and cycling it like 1-200 times. Slightly better.
Disassembled and polished everything I could see made contact, deburred edges, etc. decently better.
Bought a spring kit from Steve’s Guns and followed his instructions, that made it slick as snot on a glass doorknob!
How that applies to the marlin? No idea. lol.
I believe the marlin 30aw is basically a marlin 336 on the inside. I would cycle it a bunch, then disassemble and carefully polish everything that shows any wear from contact.
For example, on the Model 92 the strong ejector spring created friction that could never be polished away, so all by itself just the lighter ejector spring in the m92 made a big difference.
Any Lever Action can be improved by sitting down to your favorite movie (spaghetti westerns or John Wayne movies work well) and cycle the action the whole time.

He's correct.
However, don't do the cycling like they do in the movies.
Three fingers go into the lever loop and they stay there. Rifle stays on the shoulder. Trigger finger gets a slight lift outward from the trigger as you cycle it.
You'll learn very quickly if you're not moving your trigger finger enough...
I'll pull it apart, clean and oil it well, then I'll sit down with it and watch a fistful of dollars.
I have only replaced the trigger, sear, and springs in one levergun out of several I have owned, but it made a world of difference. Cycles like butter and brought the trigger weight down from around 6 pounds to about 2 or 3. I highly recommend it.

My understanding was the 30aw was kind of a dressed down 336, but the same internally.
FN Browning BLR in .308 mounted with a Zeiss 4x32 purchased as a teenager in 1973. The FN's were only manufactured for 1 year before production was shifted to Japan. This rifle has been the demise of quite a few deer and elk over the years although mostly a safe queen these days.
Ruger No. 1 in 220 Swift with Leupold scope (forgot the model). Shot out the factory barrel and the late Robert Gradous installed a Krieger 4 groove 1:12 just before his passing. D'Arcy Echols made the mounts and a work of art.
