I Spy New Baby Theos 2-10x

I love the 6-36 Theos I have. I've got a Grey and a Black. Cool to see them tossing FDE into the mix. Truth be told, I'll probably grab another 6-36 if they offer the tan on that one too. Either way, without much for specs, this looks like it'll be a bad ass MPVO. Hard to tell, but it looks short and light based off the objective size.

Anyone got specs on this thing? I didn't see it pop up on the website yet.

I have the 2.5-10x credo on my 308 LMT. It leaves me wanting a little more around 800. Adequate, but it feels like I need just a little more. Truthfully, it'd probably be better suited with something in the 4-16x range.

Okay, I get that and agree that a 4-16 or 4.5-18 might be better suited for your purposes. I guess I generally think of 2-10 as more of a mid range option out to say 500.

Honestly, my use is more for hunting and being southeast there’s not many places where you’re going to get even 200 unless you’re hunting open fields. Most shots are much closer. Thus wanting a usable low end reticle.

My main reason for not jumping to the next higher mag class is size of the scopes. I like the form factor of the credo. And I lied, I have the 2-10x, not the 2.5.

I dont think a 44mm objective would be too bad. It's already a bulky gun. Don't want to add too much to it.

Yes, that’s always a consideration. You should see the 5-30 X 56 bushy match pro in high cantilever mount on my CZ457 .22, lol.

I do not think these are officially released for a little while longer, so I can not publish specs. It looks extremely promising. The objective is 42mm. I thinkm what they did with the reticle is very appropriate for the mag range.

I am setting up two rifles to take with me on a Montana hunt toward the end of next month and one of them will have the new 2-10x42 Theos on it.

Kinda proven it to myself by using my March 1-10 and my Helos G2 DMR2-12. For longer distances 12x for sure.

Though I recently got a March DFP 1.5-15x42 which solves my previous MPVO problems. I love that daylight bright CD as well.

Now to see if this new Theos 2-10 has a reticle usable on 2x. If it has daylight bright illume that's a plus, and if qualifies on 2x, I know a gun I'd put it on. That is if it doesn't weigh more than 26 oz.

This would fill a niche for a 10x gas gun optic with adjustable parallax. There are comp divions like tactical limited where the mk5 2-10 and ZCO 2-10 are the only real options. This thing assuming it's under 1400, would sell well.

I’m not surprised that is weighs in at over 24oz. It’s a beefy scope, being 34mm.
I know that will turn some guys off, but this seems more aimed at the AR crowd and should do well there.

I’m still going to wait on what Ilya has to say.

Nice 34mm tube and 29oz is just what I wanted out if a 2-10x42.

Will be interesting to see what reticle design they have gone with, but I don't see myself buying one of these.

I own there nexus Gen-1 and it is a nice scope.I am interested in this If anyone has more info on this let us know.

Or go down 2oz. with the Steiner H6XI 3-18. Great scope and comes in at 27oz. and change.

The Steiner 2-12 is only 23.2 oz. I have both and they're fantastic, IMO.

I was incorrect on the numbers but here is the actual rule for the general purpose division:

-Available maximum magnification of 8.5x, per verified optical performance, or manufacturer marking on optic, verified by manufacturer specification per model, whichever is higher. Variable power optics with higher than 8.5x may be used with the provision that the lowest power available is 1.5x or below. The addition of a secondary optic will not qualify as meeting the 1.5x or below criteria.

So I can use a 1-10, but not a 2-10. Pretty silly. Just cap it at 10x.

Yeah, lots of matches for 2025. And actually, not to beat a dead horse but I can use a March 1.5-15x, but not a 2-10x from Leupold or anyone else in the GP division. I am really hoping they see the absurdity of that rule for 2026.

Edit: they have the old rules up on the website, the rules as of now are that a 1.25x or lower bottom end means you can run any top end mag you want. So the March 1.5-15x won't qualify. A 1-10x will, a 2-10x won't. Doesn't change the silliness.

IDK why but I thought when Ash moved, QP was no more. Glad to hear it’s thriving.

They, those in charge of the rules, it seems in every shooting sport, make silly decisions, especially as a particular sport progresses over the years but the rule makers are still stuck a decade or two back.

I'm presently thinking right now of three of those sports and the different ways the rules are goofy. Rules which won't prevent the shooters that already win from winning again because of being good in the wind and skills.

Often in an effort to include the outcome is exclusion instead.
