This was surprising. My miltary time included carrying around shelter halfs and the canvas mummy bag at a time when using better gear was not allowed no matter who paid for it or how much better it made life in the field.
I was happy to see pictures of soldiers using gear that was better than what could be found in the supply chain but it appears that things are going back a step.
The Army is not allowing PMAGS to be used now according to this article.
