11th Grade history teacher: "war is good for the economy". The problem comes in when the economy it's good for is handled in very insulated circles.

How Empires Really Work by Paul Craig Roberts

The New Empire is different. It happens without achieving conquest. The American military did not conquer Iraq and has been forced out politically by the puppet government that Washington established. There is no victory in Afghanistan, and after a decade the American military does not control the country.

In the New Empire success at war no longer matters. The extraction takes place by being at war. Huge sums of American taxpayers’ money have flowed into the American armaments industries and huge amounts of power into Homeland Security. The American empire works by stripping Americans of wealth and liberty.

This is why the wars cannot end, or if one does end another starts. Remember when Obama came into office and was asked what the US mission was in Afghanistan? He replied that he did not know what the mission was and that the mission needed to be defined.

This movie is an indictment on business, and obviously republicans. Robert Greenwald is a big lefty and his bias shows in this "documentary". (read: diatribe) I tried to watch all of it but the political slant was too repulsive.

That may have been true in antiquity. One country would conquer another and bring back various resources like precious metals, animals and slaves. The way we fight wars now isn't good for the economy.

it's good for companies involved in outsourcing though. E.g., Halliburton, Blackwater, etc.

check the rate of increase in sole source/no bid contract since the privatization of war.

It skyrocketed whether under GOP or DNC. Corporate lobbies' true master is not ideology but Mammon.

Re: documentary movie/DVD "Iraq For Sale"

War means production and repetitive consuming of that which is produced, meaning more must be produced. The peon in Anywhere, USA who can't move cars off his lot at $20k a pop, or whose customers can't afford the upgrades that actually allowed him to be more than a glorified middle class salesman in his small town, is nothing to what the economy now means.

The peon is no longer a concern as he is disposable over all. It's a global oligarchy, you think your probable starvation is their concern? They want you dead if you won't serve them. And it's coming Clyde.

War IS good for the economy in a very stripped and honest sense. But Frankenstein-economy, life-support economy, no way at all it can actually recover economy, can bear no more benefit from anything which is traditionally a spurring to the ramping up of production and national sacrifice, or that of any system of governance which is compatible with subsidiarity and the natural, God-given rights of mankind- including monarchies!

But what you're discovering is the effects of all morality crumbling and the capitulation to evil, not any new economic insight. It's much bigger than that.

I think I hear a fiddle in the distance, near the growing glow.
