Hello all. I'm looking for a reputable gunsmith in Western Washington (near Olympia if possible) who can properly install a JP Industries compensator onto the pre-threaded barrel on my Savage 10FP-SR. Google search yields some very mixed reviews. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Quality Gunsmith in Western Washington?

Look up Russ Haydon shooters supply in Gig Harbor. He will know who can do it.

Hey guys, thanks a lot for the recommendation. I'll be giving Russ a call as soon as the parts come in.

I think Benchmark Barrels is on Mercer Island, I bet they can do it for you or know someone that could.

Re: Quality Gunsmith in Western Washington?

Steve Kostanich in Chehalis is a known benchrest smith who does great work. Think he runs the ACE Hardware store. He has done several barrel installations for me, always quick first-clas work at decent prices. And they were competitive in benchrest competition, which is more than I can usually claim.

How about Jim Cloward - recent armourer to the U.S. Palma team...

Re: Quality Gunsmith in Western Washington?

Just got my rifle back from Mitch Rolen (M.rolen) at High Mountain Shooting Supply in Wenatchee. A trip took me east of the mountains so I dropped it off with him. Glad I did. He did a great job indexing my JP Tactical Comp and machining it down to match the barrel profile on my Savage 10FP. It all looks great in the JP AMCS. Now I'm just waiting for JP to get 4" rail sections back in stock so I can mount my Atlas bipod and my project is complete. I'll post pictures when I get time, but thanks again to Mitch at High Mountain!
