I bought a new rifle with a H&S stock with 2 front studs
& the front most sling stud is loose - wont tighten
I can see the nut down in the hole from barrel channel
is the nut just bedded in the stock material or is there a aluminum bar the nut should be in ?
dont really want to send it back
but if the nut pulled out of & is now below an aluminum block - what is best way to fix ?

Re: H&S stock stud info

it should be drilled/ tapped into the block that runs in the stock. Try a dab of devcon or jb weld in the hole and thread it back in It should hold as I have had to do this to a few of mine after use with bipods

Re: H&S stock stud info

mlh29 your right on -thanks-
all 3 studs are threaded into an aluminum rail - the front two are easy enough to fix having access to barrel chanel
but the rear stud I would be more involved
at least the rear one has better looking threads
Im gonna get longer studs & use nuts & washers on front two
may tap the rear one to a larger diamenter ? -any thoughts appreciated
I hate to have my rifle & scope to hit ground because a stud pulled out

Re: H&S stock stud info

For the rear one, there is a big hollow cavity in the stock.
Just remove the buttplate, insert a chunk of metal in there with a tapped hole and use epoxy to hold it in place.
Install the rear stud while the epoxy is still wet and the stud will locate the block for you while the epoxy sets up.
You can even put a new pad on the stock with the same batch of epoxy if you work quickly.

Re: H&S stock stud info

got some longer studs when I went to screw them in they threaded right in & held great -
seem the ones that came with it must have been wrong diamenter
these were a larger diamenter & threaded in great
I went ahead & added nuts - & filled holes with devcon
thanks again for the help guys

Re: H&S stock stud info

I made them from 5mm 30 tpi studs
